Obamination: State of the Union: Illegal Immigration?

In this installment on the STOTU we turn to Immigration issues.  [Click this link for the Prepared Remarks.]

"Now, I strongly believe that we should take on, once and for all, the issue of illegal immigration. I am prepared to work with Republicans and Democrats to protect our borders, enforce our laws and address the millions of undocumented workers who are now living in the shadows. I know that debate will be difficult and take time. But tonight, let’s agree to make that effort. And let’s stop expelling talented, responsible young people who can staff our research labs, start new businesses, and further enrich this nation."

Didn't we say NO already Didn't we repeat it loudly and clearly?  And when they tried to ram the "DREAM Act" down our throats we shouted our refusal to accept it.  Obamination will not accept a negative answer any more than Shrub did.

Obamination won't even complete the fence, which drug lords are using a catapault to overcome.  Mexicans are not the only wet backs. Numerous Muslim terrorists are mingling with them but Obamination does not give a damn.  He has his Secret Service to protect himself, the rest of us don't matter to him.

Illegal immigrants are more likely to organize gangs of street thugs and found Meth labs than to engage in scientific research or found legitimate enterprises. Masses of illegal immigrants are threatening the financial viability of our schools and hospitals.

We need to say it again, to repeat it with higher volume and increased profanity.  We must make the newly elected and installed majority in the House of Representatives fully aware of our absolute, principled and permanent objection to alien amnesty schemes.  Send this link to your Congressman:

Arizona Daily Star Blatantly Supports Illegals

I received an interesting article in my email today, courtesy of my morning radio talk show host Jon Justice (104.1 The Truth, M-F, 6-9 a.m.) The writer of the article didn't have the courage to supply his name to the article. It's in the Arizona Daily Star and can be accessed here.

It seems Lou Dobbs is under attack from some fly by night group calling themselves "The Hispanic Institute" and based in Washington, DC has decided to boycott CNN and Lou Dobbs because he has the courage to state the obvious: Illegals are ruining and draining the economy through entitlement programs, crime, prison populations, etc. So, The Hispanic Institute wants to shut him up and they're using a Media Matters report (here).

Let's begin dissecting the article in question (all pictures, emphasis and inserted comments mine):

Hispanic group right to stand up to hatemongers
Our view: Hispanic Institute's boycott of CNN over Lou Dobbs puts networks on notice public won't tolerate hateful lies (who wrote this? No courage to sign the byline???)
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 06.08.2008

The Hispanic Institute, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit group, last week launched a national boycott of CNN, the cable news channel, to highlight unrelenting and erroneous attacks against Latino immigrants (notice how they do not distinguish between LEGAL IMMIGRANTS and ILLEGAL CRIMINALS) by talk-show host Lou Dobbs. While we aren't sure such an effort will be effective and while by its nature, it impugns other good programs on CNN, we agree with the spirit of the boycott (this is a DAILY newspaper finally showing its obscene racist and left slant, boys and girls).

We applaud the institute for taking a stand on behalf of the immigrant community (once again failing to distinguish between LEGAL IMMIGRANTS and ILLEGAL CRIMINALS) and calling on a network to take responsibility for the content of its programs. We encourage other groups — whether they represent minorities or not — to let CNN and other news outlets know that unwarranted attacks that demonize a particular group of people will not be tolerated.

If the Hispanic community flexes its viewership muscles and the boycott succeeds in reducing CNN's ratings, particularly for Lou Dobbs' nightly show, officials with the network might be inclined to get rid of such inflammatory and dishonest programming (how is reporting FACTS inflammatory and dishonest?).

Similarly, we believe local groups could put pressure on Tucson radio station 104.1-FM, which airs "The Jon Justice Show," a morning program that repeats many of the claims made by Lou Dobbs and other anti-immigrant media personalities (Jon ROCKS in bringing us FACTS and the groups such as AZTLAN, MeCha, La Raza, etc. want to censor him because he speaks REAL truth to power--only their voices are allowed to be heard and in their minds, only THEY are allowed the luxury of free speech).

Lou Dobbs, along with fellow CNN host Glenn Beck and Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly, has been behind much of the anti-immigrant sentiment (actually the racist groups themselves have been behind the growing groundswell and the taxpayers are fed up with what their money is paying for) that is gripping the country. Dobbs and others regularly make outlandish and erroneous claims. Among them: that illegal immigrants are responsible for a disproportionate amount of crime, that they drain communities of cash by illegally using social services and that they intend to take over the Southwestern United States (visit the LaRaza/AZTLAN sites--they do indeed intend to take over the SW United States, claiming it is Mexico land; they have even made such statements as these: "Hello we have been here before 1492 then when this land was stolen in 1848"; "We call things racism just to get attention. We reduce complicated problems to racism, not because it is racism, but because it works.--- Alfredo Gutierrez, political consultant, as quoted by Richard de Uriarte, The Phoenix Gazette, March 14, 1992 (quoted in The ProEnglish Advocate, 1st quarter, 2002) http://www.theamericanresistance.com/race_industry/true_agenda_audio.html" and "Our duty is to take back what is rightfully ours, even if it means carrying-out total genocide--Hector Carreon- Nation of Aztlan--NOTE: While I cannot find the actual page this quote was on, visit this site to see what kind of whacked out loons Carreon and his followers are; pictured how these hate /racist groups would like to see the flags placed here in America):

While there are some slivers of truth in what Dobbs and the others say — for example, children of illegal immigrants do cost states money when they attend public schools (and what about the medical costs, the welfare fraud, the special classes, the accomodations in bilingual signs/paperwork--those things cost the taxpayers and exorbitant amount) — their claims were largely discredited in a recent report by the Media Matters Action Network, a project of the Washington, D.C.-based watchdog group Media Matters for America.

In a May 21 report, "Fear & Loathing in Prime Time: Immigration Myths and Cable News," researchers systematically debunked the major anti-immigrant statements made by Dobbs and others. (They consider "Media Matters" LEGITIMATE? Where's the balance to this fringe group?)

For example, the report cited Census data and university studies that concluded recent immigrants are less likely — not more — to be involved in crimes than native-born citizens. In fact, the report said, neighborhoods with higher immigrant populations had lower rates of crime. (Let's take a walk over to the Pima County Sheriff's Department Most Wanted page here: Nine of the ten are Mexicans, although their citizenship status is not listed; the crimes range from killing a child in a DUI to a combined 12 counts of murder/homicide. Here's a few more statistics from the Arizona Department of Corrections as of April, 2008 here: ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS Ethnic Distribution by Unit April 2008--TOTAL 38,594; CAUCASIAN 40.7%; AFRICAN 12.9%; AMERICAN NATIVE 5.3%; AMERICAN MEXICAN 26.3%; MEXICAN NATIONAL 13.2%)

"When it comes to this issue, cable news overflows not just with vitriol, but also with a series of myths that feed viewers' resentment and fears, seemingly geared toward creating anti-immigrant hysteria," the report said.

Programs like "Lou Dobbs Tonight" are harmful and potentially dangerous because they give license (FACTS PERHAPS?) to xenophobes and racists to spew their hate on immigrants.

If such people see men in suits on TV railing against immigrants, it emboldens them to also show hate for someone who doesn't fit their ideal of an "American." To make matters worse, perpetrators of hate crimes often can't tell if a Hispanic person is an illegal immigrant, a legal immigrant or a U.S. citizen.

The FBI reported last year that of all the hate crimes in 2006 motivated by a bias against someone's ethnicity or national origin, 62.8 percent of victims were targeted because of an anti-Hispanic bias. In three years, the number of Hispanic victims of hate crimes jumped 38 percent, from 595 victims in 2003 to 819 in 2006 (How about the three college students executed in New Jersey by illegals here or the ten year old raped by an illegal who recently gave birth here?).

Not all this violence can be attributed to talk-show hosts like Dobbs, of course. But such programs foment anger and obviously don't promote civil discourse on the problem of illegal immigration.

What's surprising about the CNN boycott is that it didn't occur sooner.

We're taking this step after years of CNN management's failure to rein in Mr. Dobbs' irresponsible assertions about immigrants and their impact on our country and its institutions," Gus West, The Hispanic Institute's board chairman, said when the boycott was announced Tuesday.

"The lack of any meaningful response from CNN's management, or any abatement of Mr. Dobbs' offensive tirades, makes it clear to us that the company supports his misleading and often inaccurate positions." (In short, this group wants to silence all those who present the facts of illegal immigration while attempting to muddy with waters with leftist talking points, ignorance of realities and lumping LEGAL IMMIGRANTS with ILLEGAL CRIMINALS)

According to the Nielsen Company, which monitors television viewers, there are 12.1 million Hispanic television households in the United States. (Again, how many are LEGAL IMMIGRANTS versus ILLEGAL CRIMINALS?)

Here's hoping they and their allies can help improve the quality of cable television and the standard of living for illegal immigrants. Just because people are in this country illegally — but helping the nation in countless ways — doesn't mean they can't be treated with dignity and respect. (Why should anybody help improve the quality of life for ILLEGAL CRIMINALS? What Part of ILLEGAL is so difficult to understand? They don't DESERVE dignity and respect, they have EARNED a jail cell and deportation. PERIOD.)
So, as you can see from this blathering nonsense, the Arizona Daily Star, while too cowardly to print a byline to this drivel, fully supports the continuing ILLEGAL INVASION we are infested with every day. They have decided to show their true, racist, hate America agenda by calling for censorship of those brave enough to stand up and tell the truth. They try to hide the facts behind misleading statements designed to tug at emotions. They will not publish the true facts. Nor will they publish the fact the Legal Workers/Employer's Sanction law in Arizona is working and working TOO WELL--it's being challenged (and has been challenged repeatedly) in the 9th Circuit District Court because it "violates the rights of illegals".

Um, newsflash--ILLEGAL CRIMINALS DON'T HAVE RIGHTS. Rights apply to LEGAL, TAXPAYING CITIZENS, not illegal INVADERS. Of course our Governor--currently angling for a VP position with BHO--has supported the rights of the ILLEGALS over the rights of her constituency by trying to take the teeth out of the law as well. I personally wrote on this particular issue here. Refer to the picture above.

LEGAL, TAXPAYING CITIZENS are rising up and their voices are being heard--so much so, the hate mongering, racist groups who haven't been properly challenged before are peddling this soft porn and calling it journalism.

LEGAL CITIZENS AND TAXPAYERS, KEEP THE VOICES RAISED. NEVER let them shut you up. The more they push, PUSH BACK (legally, of course). Legal immigrants will ALWAYS be welcome here and with open arms.

ILLEGAL INVADERS ARE NOT WELCOME. GO HOME. NOW. Get out of our SCHOOLS with your RAZA Studies (pictured TUSD Board Member Adelita Grijalva, daughter of former TUSD board member and current US Congressman Raul Grijalva):

(teaching disrespect for law enforcement, among other things) with your hate programs, get out of our CITY BUDGET with your non-essential services and special programs (programs which are funded while our necessary programs such as police and firefighters are NOT, leading to tragedies such as the death of Officer Erik Hite), get out of our FEDERAL BUDGET (pictured US Congressman and former TUSD board member Raul Grijalva, father of current TUSD board member and "pusher" of RAZA studies Adelita Grijalva):

with your entitlement mentality, get out of our HOSPITALS with your so-called emergencies you don't pay for and GET OUT OF MY COUNTRY.

Tucson Teacher Exposes "Raza" Studies In TUSD

While getting ready for work this morning and listening to my morning talk, I noticed my commentator was reading a letter that had appeared in our local newspaper as a guest opinion. He was rather animated about it so I "tuned in" a little more to get the full story.

As anyone with a pulse in the past year or so knows, Tucson is ground zero for the illegal immigration battle. We not only fight it on the border, we fight it in our schools (which have decided to become sanctuary schools and have told the police, ICE and Border Patrol they aren't allowed on school properties even in an emergency) through the "Ethnic Studies" programs.

We have long suspected what was taught with our tax dollars, whether we like it or not. Our suspicions were confirmed by this guest opinion. Much like Ben Stein's movie "Expelled" (which shuts up and black lists those who disagree with the globull warming hysteria), the "Ethnic Studies" here are churning out kids who have no respect for authority and who buy the lie the American Southwest is actually Aztec land under the memories of Aztlan--of course with no historical reference to the fact the Aztecs forcibly invaded and controlled the lands themselves. Whites are interlopers.

The author of this guest opinion is a former teacher of these studies. However, he is a teacher with conscience and refused to teach this drivel as history. Below is his guest opinion as published by the Tucson Citizen May 21, 2008:

All emphasis mine.

Guest opinion: Raza studies gives rise to racial hostility

JOHN A. WARD

As a former teacher in Tucson Unified School District's hotly debated ethnic studies department, I submit my perspective for the public's consideration.

During the 2002-2003 school year, I taught a U.S. history course with a Mexican-American perspective. The course was part of the Raza/Chicano studies department.

Within one week of the course beginning, I was told that I was a "teacher of record," meaning that I was expected only to assign grades. The Raza studies department staff would teach the class.

I was assigned to be a "teacher of record" because some members of the Raza studies staff lacked teaching certificates. It was a convenient way of circumventing the rules.

I stated that I expected to do more than assign grades. I expected to be involved in teaching the class. The department was less than enthusiastic but agreed.

Immediately it was clear that the class was not a U.S. history course, which the state of Arizona requires for graduation. The class was similar to a sociology course one expects to see at a university.

Where history was missing from the course, it was filled by controversial and biased curriculum.

The basic theme of the curriculum was that Mexican-Americans were and continue to be victims of a racist American society driven by the interests of middle and upper-class whites.

In this narrative, whites are able to maintain their influence only if minorities are held down. Thus, social, political and economic events in America must be understood through this lens.

This biased and sole paradigm justified teaching that our community police officers are an extension of the white power structure and that they are the strongmen used "to keep minorities in their ghettos."

It justified telling the class that there are fewer Mexican-Americans in Tucson Magnet High School's advanced placement courses because their "white teachers" do not believe they are capable and do not want them to get ahead.

It justified teaching that the Southwestern United States was taken from Mexicans because of the insatiable greed of the Yankee who acquired his values from the corrupted ethos of Western civilization.

It was taught that the Southwest is "Atzlan," the ancient homeland of the Aztecs, and still rightfully belongs to their descendants - to all people of indigenous Mexican heritage.

As an educator, I refused to be complicit in a curriculum that engendered racial hostility, irresponsibly demeaned America's civil institutions, undermined our public servants, discounted any virtues in Western civilization and taught disdain for American sovereignty.

When I raised these concerns, I was told that I was a "racist," despite being Hispanic. Acknowledging my heritage, the Raza studies staff also informed me that I was a vendido, the Spanish term for "sellout."

The culmination of my challenge to the department's curriculum was my removal from that particular class. The Raza studies department and its district-level allies pressured the Tucson High administration to silence my concerns through reassignment to another class during that one period.

The Raza studies department used the "racist" card, which is probably the most worn-out and desperate maneuver used to silence competing perspectives.

It is fundamentally anti-intellectual because it immediately stops debate by threatening to destroy the reputation of those who would provide counter arguments.

Unfortunately, I am not the only one to have been intimidated by the Raza studies department in this way.

The diplomatic and flattering language that the department and its proponents use to describe the Raza studies program is an attempt to avoid public scrutiny. When necessary, the department invokes terms such as "witch hunt" and "McCarthyism" to diminish the validity of whatever public scrutiny it does get.

The proponents of this program may conceal its reality to the public. But as a former teacher in the program, I am witness to its ugly underbelly.

Arizona taxpayers should ask themselves whether they should pay for the messages engendered in these classrooms with their hard-earned tax dollars.

The Raza studies department has powerful allies in TUSD, on its governing board and in the U.S. House of Representatives (sidenote: one of the board members is Adelita Grijalva, daughter of US Congressman Raul Grijalva who got his start on the Tucson Unified School District board himself and was the initiator of these studies) and thus operates with much impunity.

Occasionally there are minor irritations from the state superintendent of public instruction and the Legislature.

Ultimately, Arizona taxpayers own TUSD and have the right to change it. The change will have to come from replacing the board if its members refuse to make the Raza studies department respect the public trust.

John A. Ward is a former teacher at Tucson High Magnet School.
Now, quite some time ago I wrote about a protest at another TUSD school, Catalina High Magnet School, wherein an illegal was suspected to have drugs on campus, it was found he was illegal, ICE removed him and his brother from a junior high and deported the family. Read about that here, here and here.

Ladies and gentleman, this is not an issue exclusive to Tucson. Check into your own school district's curriculums. We have four schools on the chopping block due to budget deficits. The school district wants to close schools and continue to teach this hate rather than give up these special interest studies, cut their pork (Adelita's learning well from her father, isn't she?) and teach a proper curriculum. Your school district may be doing the same thing.

The writer makes an excellent point. Ultimately, the school districts are owned by the taxpayers. The legal residents who pay the taxes, not the illegal alien front groups who wish to continue educating illegals at your expense. Therefore, it is up to the taxpayers, the legal citizens, to do something (and NO I am NOT advocating violence) about this. The easiest thing to do is VOTE THEM OUT and put in supervisors who will teach instead of preach.

What are YOU going to do about your own school district? Contact information for TUSD can be found here, on the 104.1 The Truth morning show blog. Make your voice, your opinion and your vote heard.

A Call to Arms--Amnesty, Troop Funding and HR 5515

Ladies and gentlemen, once again the not so bright Congress is trying to force amnesty down our throats. This time, it's been sneaked into the troop funding bill.

Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) is trying to sneak in an agricultural amnesty into the troop funding bill. This has been confirmed by both Democratic and Republican sources. It was passed by the Senate Appropriations Committee May 16, 2008 and a vote by the full Senate may occur early this week. Not only does this show Washington doesn't like what we say and is determined to do what it wants rather than perform to the wishes of the people, they have attached this to our troop funding bill. Our. Troop. Funding. Bill. The money for our military, to get them the equipment they need and all that goes with funding the military. Heinously illegal.

People, we have repeatedly told Washington, in NO uncertain terms, we are against amnesty in any form. We have to do it again, and we have to continue to stay on this issue and continue to pressure Washington until they get it through their thick skulls. No amnesty. Ever again. Enforce the existing laws and build the fence. More information on this issue and a chance to send a fax to your representative, free of charge (as well as phone information) can be found at NumbersUSA here. Follow the links, contact your representative and let your voices be heard, loud and clear. Be polite but relentless. Susan at Wake Up America has plenty of information as well.

Through Snooper at A Newt One, we also hear about HR5515. This little gem is designed to keep us from defending ourselves against the illegals and protecting our property and our persons. He was notified through a post at the Eeevil Conservative here. Again, follow the links to find out who the sponsors are, what the text of the bill is, etc. Here is a teaser of her article:
There is NO DOUBT in ANY of their minds that WE the American people are not willing to bend one iota on the issue of illegal alien squatters and those who employ them - until they take care of enforcing the laws that already exist (deportation and holding employers accountable) and find a way to STOP this invasion at the border FIRST!
Ladies and gentlemen it is clear--we have GOT to clean out Washington. Term limits is a great place to start (although my freshman representative--Gabrielle Giffords--is one of the sponsors of HR5515--and she ran on a strong enforce the borders campaign--what a liar). It is OBVIOUS those on the Hill don't give two hoots about their constituency. The inmates are running the asylum and we have got to (figuratively speaking) lock the inmates up and take back control of said asylum. As of yesterday.

If you want a solution (BESIDES--NOT instead of--calling, writing, faxing, emailing and flooding their offices with faxes before this vote), pay a visit to "What If America?". It offers a real solution, basically helping build the fence the government doesn't want to build and using the government's money to do so.

The time for talk is over. It's time to act.

New Life for an Old Symbol: “Come And Take It!”

Whether it’s Obama’s elitist disdain for the great unwashed who, “cling to guns or religion,” or McCain’s disregard for the majority of American citizens who don’t want to grant amnesty to ILLEGAL ALIENS, one symbol stands out as the symbol of the day! It’s the Come And Take It" symbol, flag, and slogan used in the Texas Revolution in 1835. This symbol is no longer hiding in a dusty history book. It is now being resurrected as the symbol of America’s fight against Illegal immigration.
&
Since the 1980’s gun-rights advocates have modified the original cannon symbol; using instead an aggressive looking assault rifle. But the original cannon has behind it the strength and subtle symbolic power of our long history with Mexico. The symbol of that little original 6 pound Come And Take It cannon now belongs to all American citizens who stand up in defiance of the Mexican invasion!
&
&
We will not be overwhelmed!
&
Imagine May Day 2009. Instead of retching at the sight of Mexican flags flying over our American streets, imagine a sea of white and black Come and Take It flags flying as a sign of American Unity against illegal immigration!
&
Imagine walking into your local grocery store or Wal-Mart any day and seeing many other Americans proudly wearing their Come And Take It T-shirts or ball caps.
&
Imagine thousands of bumper stickers in this election year with the simple words “Come And Take It!” Talk about sending a message to both candidates!!!
&
If we can’t see ourselves flying the Come And Take it Flag, or wearing the T-shirt or ball cap, then we better be able to envision ourselves living under the domination of Mexican Flag!
&
&
Note to Mexico: Those who fail to remember history are doomed to repeat history!
&
Here’s the brief history of Come And Take It from the Gonzales, Texas Chamber of Commerce.
&
“In 1831 the Mexican government loaned the citizens of Gonzales a six-pound cannon as protection against the Indians. In September of 1835, as political unrest grew, Mexican officials at San Antonio de Bexar demanded the cannon be returned.”
&
Well that just didn’t happen! Read the entire story here.
&
Here’s how it ended:
&
“There, in the early-morning hours of Oct. 2, 1835, the colonists crossed the river with their cannon, surprising the troops and waving their hastily fashioned flag, which proclaimed "Come and Take It." Almost immediately the cannon fired, killing one of Castenada's men and scattering the rest, forcing them to retreat to San Antonio de Bexar. Thus was fired the shot that set off the struggle for Texas independence from Mexico.”
&
It’s such a simple symbol that anyone with a black permanent marker and white cloth can quickly duplicate it! But wouldn’t it be nice to find a place where we can buy Come and Take It! items?
&
When I suggested a line of Come And Take It gifts, clothing, and caps to Texas Fred, he immediately got with the folks at CafePress and added an entire page of Come And Take It goodies. Fred wisely included both the original and modified symbols on his products.
&
Disclaimer: I am not involved in Texas Fred’s financial ventures but I applaud his initiative in getting the ball rolling! Check out the Come And Take It gifts here.
&
&
Here are some Come and Take It Flag resources:
&
&
&
&
“ . . .The truth is that the overwhelming evidence proves that a super majority of Americans oppose Comprehensive Immigration Reform, Guest Worker Program, Temporary Worker Program, Path to Citizenship, etc... That is why the supporters of amnesty have to keep changing the name!
&
A majority of Americans support the enforcement of our existing immigration laws only, which results in illegal aliens returning home on their own or with government assistance.
&
Any lawmaker, candidate, reporter, activist, or organization that supports the current lack of enforcement of the existing laws, or supports the overthrow of these laws by passage of new legislation, which a majority of Americans oppose, is a traitor to the American republic and an enemy of the citizens of the United States. . . .”

A Savage Idea--And It's Worth a Look

On my nightly drive home, I listen to Savage. I don't always agree with him, but sometimes he has an idea worth repeating and getting out there. This is one of those ideas and it deals with the gas pump prices.

It's short, sweet, to the point--and could work. It would break OPEC's monopoly on foreign oil to us and get us off foreign sources of oil, thus leaving our dependence on US oil alone.

As I'm writing this several hours after hearing it this evening, these are MY words and not Savage's. I'm paraphrasing what he said.

1. For each illegal mexican immigrant in the United States right now, Mexico should send us the equivalent number of barrels of oil-per DAY-for free. This would cover the costs inherent to the taxpayer for costs incurred by the illegals on our soil in education, welfare, identity theft, crimes committed and healthcare. If mexico balks at this, send our military to seize the oil and add those costs to the barrels per day owed to us.

This would be anywhere from 11 to 20 million barrels PER DAY.

2. Drill ANWAR and forget about the caribou--the same caribou who were allegedly in danger from the pipeline before and who have, in actuality, thrived due to the warmth in the pipeline. The caribou are not in danger from drilling ANWAR.

3. Flat out take the oil from the Iranians and Iraquis--admittedly I may have heard this one incorrectly--and mark it as for services rendered. Do this until the costs we've incurred in protecting the middle east are paid and the ANWAR fields are producing profitably. We're already being accused of doing so, might as well make it true, right?

Simple--a three point plan, no more dependence on foreign oil, Mexico pays us for their illegal immigrants (Mexico might be spurred into finding ways to keep their citizens home instead of coming here--again my thought, not what Savage said), and the caribou thrive.

Too bad it makes too much sense. If it didn't it might have a chance of going somewhere.

Homeland Security Buys a Clue

This article came to me from one of my legal contacts and may be helpful for those with out-of-country travel plans.

Since DHS took over the passport office and made the requirements regarding passports (can we say National ID anyone?) for even day travel into Mexico and Canada, not to mention areas normally not requiring passports, the wait time for your passport has doubled and in some cases, tripled. Leave it to the government to further screw things up (yet morons think the government can make national health care run smoothly? How about y'all re-think that idiocy, 'k?).

DHS is, of course, pushing its implementation of the REAL ID Act of 2005, and a handful of states not only objected to its implementation but actually passed laws against it with anti-REAL ID legislation.

DHS has now "blinked". For those who have travel plans and no passport, the deadline requiring compliance with the REAL ID Act has been extended to December 31, 2009.

Here is the article from Law.com:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Homeland Security Avoids Clash With
States by Extending Time to Improve ID Security

Extension is viewed as a victory by six rebellious states

Pamela A. MacLean
The National Law Journal
04-11-2008

Faced with a minirevolt among a handful of states, the
Department
of Homeland Security
avoided a head-on confrontation and extended time to improve security procedures on drivers' license identification under the REAL ID Act of 2005.

The extension of time to all 50 states, whether they asked for it or not, is viewed as a victoryby the rebellious states. The extension will avoid hassles, and pat-down searches, for many Americans trying to board airplanes using drivers' licenses as the summer vacation season approaches.

Six states have steadfastly refused to go along with some of the REAL ID mandates, which require Americans to carry a federally approved ID card, or passport, to travel on an airplane, open a bank account, get into federal buildings or collect social security.

States were required to adopt licensing systems that meet federal standards by May 11, 2008, which include new security layers to prevent forgery and include verification of birth certificates, social security numbers and immigration status.

Among the recalcitrant states were Maine, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Montana, Oklahoma and Washington, but by April 2 Michael Chertoff, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, indicated all states were technically in compliance, despite some states'passage of laws
rejecting REAL ID requirements.

DHS spokeswoman Veronica Valdez said April 7, "We have reached agreements to make sure all states are ontheir way to making identification more secure and REAL ID Act compliant." She declined any further comment.

Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer has been among the leaders of the pack of objecting states. He said in March that "DHS blinked" when his state got an extension from Chertoff despite insisting Montana would never comply and a state law that bars compliance.

Montana Attorney General Mike McGrath sent a letter to DHS in March pointing out the steps the state has taken to improve license security and catch fraudulent documents. He asked that DHS not punish the state because the Legislature has not been in session since its unanimous vote in 2007 to forbid implementation of REAL ID.

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford was equally defiant about the REAL ID
program but got the extension anyway. The state passed an anti-REAL ID measure in 2007 and has not backed down.

"At the end of the day, I'm duty-bound to uphold the laws of our state, which right now say we can't comply with REAL ID," he told reporters on the eve of the DHS extension. "That being said, I do fall into the camp that believes REAL ID is poor public policy for any number of reasons, and we have some real questions as to whether the benefits in terms of security outweigh the costs in terms of time and money," he said.

Maine was the last state to get the extension on April 2, according to the DHS.

The state asked that the federal government not penalize Maine residents
for the state's failure to comply under a 2007 law that states Maine would
refuse to implement the act to protest treatment of the states by federal
authorities.

Maine Gov. John Baldacci promised to seek legislation to halt Maine's current practice of issuing licenses to people not lawfully in the United States and to begin retaining photographs of people who apply for state
identification, even if no ID is issued, according to the DHS.

Baldacci also promised to submit legislation that would have Maine use the federal alien verification system to verify noncitizen documents and seek state appropriations to pay for the changes.

The promises were good enough to win a DHS approval for the extension.

I have issues with the idea of a National ID, no matter how it's sugarcoated or named. I understand we have to have something to identify citizens and those here illegally. Frankly, I don't know the solution to this issue.

I don't like the government having more and more control over me and I think this is where my real objection lies. Further, if the government is going to require passports, you'd think they'd reduce the cost of them. Instead, the cost has remained the same while the service to obtain a passport has deteriorated--just like any other government run agency.

Illegal Immigration and "What If America?"

Those of you who are regular readers of this blog know I live in Arizona, a border state. I'm also a die-hard advocate of ending illegal immigration, building the mandated fence and enforcing existing border laws.

Too bad if that offends you. I happen to like American sovereignty. I also don't want to hear the whining I can already hear warming up in the wings regarding "all of us were immigrants or are descended from immigrants". Before you start the whining, understand this--I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THOSE WHO WISH TO EMIGRATE HERE LEGALLY. MY PROBLEM IS ILLEGALS. If you are incapable of comprehending that distinction, stop reading right here and leave the blog. Mexico--and all other countries for that matter--enforce their standing immigration laws; we need to follow and enforce ours. Whiners can follow the advice given below as well.

I am not pleased with the stance of any of our presidential candidates regarding the illegal issue.
Neither Hillary nor Barack Hussein Obama want to enforce existing laws and are all for giving all kinds of taxpayer money to all illegals. It follows their stated globalist agendas.

McCain co-sponsored the McCain-Kennedy Shamnesty. At this point in time he states he heard the people loud and clear and learned his lesson; however, once bitten twice shy and I will have to see him in action on this issue in order to trust him again.

In Arizona, a new law went into affect January 1, 2008. This law--The Legal Arizona Worker's Law, more commonly known as the Employer Sanctions Law, has already faced court challenges regarding its validity. It has proven very effective in a very short period of time.

The challenge came from--SURPRISE--the ACLU as an "unconstitutional statute" (their press release is dated February 7, 2008) For more information on the ACLU's stance, check out their site here. Newsflash, ACLU, the Constitution only applies to LEGAL citizens. Apparently, various and sundry courts and judges see this the same way SANE people see it. A Federal judge upheld the merits of the law on February 8, 2008 (article here). On February 28, 2008, the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the lower court's ruling (article here). Keep in mind, people, this is the 9th Circuit--the most liberal circuit out there.

How is this affecting illegals here in Arizona? It's huge. Homes and apartments are being abandoned. People suddenly aren't showing up for work and their children are no longer in school. Businesses catering to illegals are closing and filing for bankruptcy. Phoenix has declared it will no longer consider itself a "sanctuary" city and all bets are off for demanding proof of citizenship. ICE will be called whenever an arrest is made and the arrestee is an illegal.

There has been another effect, a rather comical effect. Mexico has issues with the return of its citizens. It doesn't like the new law. It's not equipped to house, educate or employ its returning citizens. It sent a delegation to Arizona to bitch. I blogged about this here and there are articles here and here.

What does all this have to do with the title of this post regarding "What If America?"

Glad you asked that, Skippy.

I listen to talk radio and a particular, locally hosted, show in the morning, "The Jon Justice Show". Jon had an idea and that idea has become "What If America?". Essentially, this idea asks What if those who are receiving their "stimulus" check turn around, pledge that money, and the fence gets built using that stimulus money? Would YOU be willing to use your stimulus check to make sure a private company built the mandated fence Congress is dragging it's feet on? How much would that cost?

Jon thought about all those questions and came up with the "What If America?" site. The link to this site is here. However, I'm flat going to post the front page (I promised Jon I would).

WHAT IF AMERICA TOOK THE TAX REBATE STIMULUS MONEY AND USED IT TO SECURE THE U.S. MEXICO BORDER?

On Wednesday 2/20 we had a meeting with members of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) about what could be done to secure the border of US and Mexico if only they had the proper funding? I am pleased to say that we are one step closer to presenting a transparent and comprehensive plan for What If America? Within the next few weeks we should be sending out the "What If America Border Security Plan" to everyone who has pledge some if not all of their Tax Rebate money to do what our government has failed to do....Secure our Border!

(use the comment link above to share ideas)

How much will you pledge to secure our US Mexico Border?

Listen to all 3 hours of the 1/28/08 Jon Justice Show about "What If America?"

Listen the 1/30/08 interview with the Minuteman Co-founder Chris Simcox
Chris Simcox explains that the MMCDC has been building a fence and can build more, it just takes the funds and the will to do it.

This started on Jan 24th 2008 while I was printing the story of President Bush and Congress agreeing on a stimulus package. Being married with 2 boys I could certainly use the $1800.00 that I will be getting this summer. But then I thought "what if"? What if enough people decided to pledge some if not all their Tax Rebate money to secure the US Mexico Border? What if we sent a message back to our government that said "Since you failed to secure our border, we will do it for you". It would take a one time cost of roughly 3 billion dollars to put the entire fence up. Our government is going to hand the tax payers 150 Billion! A fraction of that could save us billions in Illegal Immigration costs for years to come.

Now how do we do it? Plans are currently being drafted by non-profit NON GOVERNMENT organizations on ideas of various ways we could secure our nations US MEXICO Border given the right funding. With this kind of money we have lots of options. Groups like the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps have already done tremendous work making our nation safer. We could create jobs for people to go and secure our border, put up fencing, vehicle barricades, man power etc. Why use this money to buy products from overseas, when we could create jobs and secure the country at the same time? If enough people pledged enough money what would our own government do? What would the candidates do? If the people of america took the border security in their own hands the problem could no longer be ingnored.

One major point of concern is the obvious "How do we avoid any fraud'? I believe that the only way is to create a plan for complete transparency. Setting up a single fund for the money to be placed. Then we will present a plan showing exactly what and where the money will go to those who have made the pledge. At this point the door is open for ideas.

How much would you pledge of your government tax rebate to secure the US Mexico Border? This is only a pledge to help, nothing more, nothing binding.

Email WhatIfAmerica@gmail.com

We have 6 months to spread the word and find out potentially how many people and how much money we could gather together.

It starts with the actions of very few to make a difference. This is what made our country great. The government is ready to send the people of america a 150 billion dollar blank check. What if the people of these United States used that money to TAKE THE COUNTRY BACK!?

Copy and send this link to as many people as you can: www.WhatIfAmerica.com

Spread the word!

Expanding the approved 370 miles of border fence by 1,630 miles at a cost of $2.5 billion would seal the border completely for a one-time cost. Total fencing 1969 miles. All information below are estimates based off of the 2006 US census and various other sources.

One time cost total of between 2.5 and 3 billion to build the whole fence.

1969 miles of fence at a cost of 1.5 million per mile

131 million taxpayers who will recieve money from Government this year in rebates =150 billion

Total cost for each taypayer for a one time cost to build fence = $22.00 Yes only 20 bucks!

Polls show 70% of american public what to see our border secure = 92 million want border fence

Total cost per person for the 92 million who want the fence = $32.00

ARIZONA
5.5 million AZ taxpayers

Total cost for entire U.S. fence per AZ taxpayer $571.00

Total AZ Mexico border miles= 389

Total cost per AZ tax payer to put up 389 miles of AZ mexico fence =$105.00

Total cost per year for tax payers in Arizona because of Illegal Immigrants 1.3 Billion.

It SOUNDS like a great idea--non violent, no one gets hurt, we get our fence, private sector has money going back into it, and the government stays out of it. We can enhance the progress already being made with enforcement of current laws on the books and illegas self deporting.

Go check out the site. For those truly concerned about keeping Canada, Mexico and America separate, this is a solution.

The Current Speaker of The House Still Clueless

Snooper~

As the post title states, it should come to no surprise that she is still trying for that back-door Shamnesty deal while the rest of the country, by actions and deeds, are telling her to shut up and just go away.

One of our subscribers sent this link to us: Pelosi's amnesty scheme

Poor thing. Such a blatant and ignorant fool that she is, revels in her own pity party of stupidity.
[...] If senior Democrats were really serious about a get-tough approach toward illegal immigration, we would be urging the Republican minority to reach across the aisle and work with the Democratic leadership to come up with a genuine bipartisan solution. But unfortunately, the Democrats are putting together an elaborate con job: using tough-sounding rhetoric while working behind the scenes with open-borders advocates in the business community to win support from from firms that have become very dependent on cheap foreign labor. The goal of these Democrats - and possibly the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as well - is to defeat a bipartisan bill that takes a no-amnesty, enforcement-oriented approach to illegal immigration. Specifically, they are very worried about the fact that a growing number of moderate and conservative Republicans and Democrats (and even a few liberals) are cosponsoring the Secure America through Verification and Enforcement (SAVE) Act, H.R. 4088, introduced by Rep. Heath Shuler, North Carolina Democrat. [...]
Get the word out folks...Nancy is still an idiot and we will trounce this Shamnesty into the sewers where it belongs every time it gets brought up...no matter what color they paint it.

Go read the rest. Move out and draw fire!

McCain on Illegal Immigration

McCain at a townhall meeting in Prescott, Arizona--his home state. He refuses to "dignify with an answer" a question posed by one of the audience. When he's questioned, his "people" remove the woman asking for an answer to a legitimate question.

On Immigration.

And he wants to be CIC? Nope...not for me!

Arizona Representative Report Cards

Interesting how the rhetoric in a campaign speech can sound so lofty and the reality be so base. Gabrielle Giffords touts her "strong" stand on illegal immigration. Raul Grijalva is just plain pandering to the illegals (at least he's honest about his hatred of America and productive citizens).

These "report cards" come from "Americans for Better Immigration" and were pulled late Friday night, February 1, 2008:
