Why I Will Not Support Newt Gingrich

The ex Speaker of the House exposed his hypocrisy in an article at Human Events. I thank my friend theway2k for posting a link to the Gingrich screed in
Who is at War with America?

On Terrorism it's Time to Know, to Profile, and to Discriminate by Newt Gingrich 12/30/2009

We know our opponents are radical extremists of the irreconcilable wing of Islam (Islamists, some would call them).

We know they have an ideology which is anti-female, desires to impose fundamentalist Sharia as a form of law, is hostile to other religions and is prepared to kill the innocent to achieve their goals.

Like G.W. Bush, John McCain, Hillary Clinton & Barack Obama, Newt knows something that is untrue. Our opponent is Islam. Islam's canon of scripture, tradition & jurisprudence contains demonic injunctions to make war upon disbelievers. Islamic aggression flows directly from its scripture, tradition & jurisprudence. Islam is fundamentally and irreversibly incompatible with liberty & democracy.

Islam is paternalistic & misogynistic by design. Global imposition of Shari'ah is part of the grand design, not an innovation. Islam is not just hostile to Judaism, Christianity & Zoroastrianism, it is engaged in perpetual warfare against them.

Newt's article included seven thematic headings which deserve some attention.
  • Our Politically Correct Government is Making Life More Miserable For the Innocent
It is true, p.c. policy imposes a great burden on innocent travelers and puts them at risk.
  • It’s Time to Be Honest About What We Know
Really, its long overdue. But the quotes included above indicate that Newt is part of the problem, not part of the solution.
  • Protecting the Rights of Terrorists Has Been More Important than Protecting the Lives of Americans
While that statement appears strident at first glance, it is an understatement. Three thousand lives might have been saved if the investigators had properly inspected the contents of one terrorist's computer. We need to scan, interrogate and search Muslims, not innocent citizens. Careful background checks are needed to identify them well in advance.
  • The United States Must Actively Root Out Every Terrorist Website
I don't believe it is possible to root them out, and I am not convinced that it is desirable. As soon as one is pulled down, they'll replace it with another. Those sites can serve as a source of actionable intelligence if properly exploited.
  • We Need a “Grand National Strategy” That is Bigger Than the Debate Over Afghanistan
We needed a strategy eight years ago. We needed to honestly identify the enemy first. That need has not been met yet.
  • The New Honesty Should End Any Thought of a Civilian Trial in New York for KSM
If there was any new honesty, it would come too late to derail that trial. But there is no new honesty, and it is unlikely that there ever will be official honesty concerning Islam and terrorism.
  • We Need a New Homeland Security Secretary Who Knows We Need a New Strategy
That is a grand statement of the obvious. But we also need a Commander In Chief with the same knowledge. Newt Gingrich has identified a real need: official honesty in identifying and characterizing the enemy. But instead of promoting it, he has continued the politically correct practice of implying that mythical 'radical extremists' are the cause of terrorism.

In reality, believers of orthodox Islamic doctrine are responsible for terrorism. The Qur'an commands Jihad imperatives which require perpetual war. Those imperatives are in 8:39, 8:60, 9:29 & 9:123. Those imperatives are confirmed by hadith including Sahih Bukhari 1.8.387. Those imperatives are codified into Islamic law in Reliance of the Traveler O9.8 & O9.9. Terrorism is sanctified in 3:151, commanded in 8:12, exemplified in 33:26 and confirmed in Sahih Bukhari 4.52.220. The new honesty Newt calls for involves acknowledging the fatal fact documented in this paragraph. It is extremely unlikely that any candidate for high office will fully engage in such honesty.

Any politician who publicly identifies Islam as the source of Islamic terrorism and genocidal Jihad will be labeled racist & bigot. Which one of them has the SISU required to state the facts and pound home the proof? Who can withstand the Islamic & Democrat Party propaganda mills and mainstream media? We have two years in which to find such a hero. It appears that Newt is not the one. Sarah Palin has already proved herself too p.c. My bet is on Tom Tancredo.

Don't Believe The Hype

(Cross-posted from America Needs Me)

If you are a McCain-Palin supporter these days any exposure to the media can be disheartening. Guess what kids? It's only going to get worse.

You are going to be under a barrage of negative news telling you that your candidate is doomed and your life sucks because you didn't fall under the Obama spell. "Hey, don't even get out of bed loser."

I think we have established by now that the MSM is not just in the tank for Beloved Leader Obama, they're naked and spooning with him at this point. They want you to be discouraged and stay home. So when you turn on the TV you'll hear all about The One's coronation plans. When you log into your Yahoo! mail you'll see poll numbers that will make you want to head to Mexico for some cheap Zoloft. The number one show in America this week will be "Barack Obama and the Mantle of Inevitability".

Just remember this, when I went to lunch on the West coast on Election Day 2004 all the exit polls were telling me that John Kerry was going to be the next POTUS.

This is hardly the time to go underground and hope we don't all get assigned to ACORN sponsored reeducation camps.

Rasmussen shows Pennsylvania tightening and Ace of Spades HQ has some ideas for working in the home stretch.

The angry, well-organized and deadly serious PUMAS offer some even more encouraging news.

Tonight we spoke with a friend from Hillary Clinton’s campaign who is now working for McCain/Palin — and is specifically working with Democrats for McCain in Pennsylvania. We worked with her in Texas, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania for Hillary and have spent many LONG hours with her in the trenches in all of those states. She’s smart, doesn’t BS, and never lies.

She says the same thing we do: John McCain will win Pennsylvania.

Nothing anywhere or at any time is a given, of course. But that includes an Obama victory. If you're a sports nut then remember how many experts picked the New York Giants in the Super Bowl. The game still has to be played.

If you can't get to a swing state and knock on doors, you can make phone calls to the state of your choice all you want between now and then.

Yes, it would be better if McCain was up in the polls right now but he's not. But we don't need to hang our heads, cry and get marched right over because we listened to the very MSM that we're always saying is biased.

One last note:

Extra beer might help.

Where's Barney?

(Cross-posted from America Needs Me)

Throwing up in my mouth a little...

The Botox Hag (D-CA) was just on the tube telling me that we're now going to get to the bottom of why this crisis started in the first place. How? Barney Frank is going to hold hearings.

That's like Hitler presiding over the Nuremberg Trials (shut up, pansies, I'm not saying that Barney Frank is Hitler. Being Barney Frank is bad enough.) Unless the hearings involve just Barney Frank and a mirror they are a sham.

My biggest question is this: why in God's name isn't John McCain telling you this?

He is about to piss away an election over what should be the single biggest issue advantage he has. Bigger than national security, energy, taxes and Maverick sainthood combined.

McCain and Sarah Palin shouldn't let two sentences out of their mouths about the economy without mentioning a) the Democrats who ignored all the warnings while b) McCain was proposing prescient oversight legislation.

Specifics, please. "I fought for reform" isn't good enough. "I proposed this bill on this date and here's what Chris Dodd said," is where he needs to be going now.

I've been watching this unfold and have been dumbfounded. They either start hammering this point or make vacation plans for Nov. 5th.

There is a theory out there that I hope is true. Ace of Spades HQ (my favorite site after elfshaving.com) is where I saw it first. It posits that McCain is just holding out, acting all presidential until the Monster passed both houses and then start up with the finger-pointing.

Well, the fingers had better be getting ready. And they have to point better than this. I usually post these ads here on the site but this one is so limp that a Viagra IV couldn't help it.

Just checked the reader and saw a new post from Michelle Malkin expressing the same frustration.

I have contacted the campaign by email and phone today telling them that I wouldn't be volunteering down the home stretch if this they don't start pressing this advantage. It's time to clog their phone lines with this message: 703-418-2008. Steve Schmidt's mailbox is currently full. Press the volunteer option and tell them you'd love to but not until they pull their heads out.

I've been championing a fighter pilot for president.

Time for him to fight, already.

A Horror Tale of Financial Woes

Cross posted at Monkey in the Middle

Hat tip to Maggie's Notebook

Once upon a time, in a land called the United States, people would try and buy a home. They would save for years and keep their credit clean. They would look through out the neighborhood for a home they would like to buy. Then they would hope and pray that their local bank would grant them the all important mortgage. When the bank would grant this wondrous gift, they would rejoice and move into their new home. But this gift of mortgage came with a price. They had to pay it back to the bank. A payment to be made on the 1st of each month, over the course of 30 years. The people did not mind paying the mortgage. It was not as much as the rent they had been paying. The nation was in good shape when this was done.

Then in 1977 a strange thing happened. Jimmy Carter, then the President of the United States, convinced the members of Congress (the people who make the laws) to pass the Community Reinvestment Act. This Act gave birth to 2 children: Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac. This Act was a good idea, for it gave the gift of mortgage to more people, in neighborhoods in which the banks originally gave a redline to. As long as the people had good credit and some savings, the bank would give them a mortgage and the nation was in good shape.

Then one day in 1995, a new President by the name of Bill Clinton decided that although the Community Reinvestment Act was good, it needed to become better, to let more people buy a home. So he changed the Act so everybody could buy a home.

This should have been a good thing, but it was the worst thing that could have been done. For no longer would the people have to have good credit and savings to get the gift of mortgage. They could have no savings, bad credit and still get this marvelous gift.

And no longer would the gift of mortgage be fixed at a special rate. It would be variable and be able to climb to any rate the bank wanted. These special mortgages were called Subprime and allowed the banks to make a lot of money on their mortgages.

And the people rejoiced and everyone went out to buy their home. But a strange thing started to happen. Homes that once were $60,000 or $70,000 were now being sold for $250,000, $400,000 or even $500,000. Builders started to build new homes and selling them for more than they were actually worth. But the people would scream "We want this house!" and the bank would give them the gift of mortgage.

But not all was right. A new President, George W. Bush, saw that this could become a problem. People with low incomes buying homes they really could not afford. And he tried to make it better. In the year 2003 he tried to move governmental supervision of Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac to a new agency created within the Department of the Treasury. But the evil Democrats who ruled the Congress said, NO!

Again voices were raised that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were not well. They tried to sound the alarm in the year of 2005. A group of Senators from the Congress, headed by John McCain, tried to heal the 2 children, but to no avail. For the evil Democrats said NO! IT WOULD HURT THE POOR. So nothing again was done.

Then came the bad year, 2007. What was warned about started to happen. The people who didn't have the good credit or the savings found that their gift of mortgage was not a very good gift. The payment that they owed each month was getting bigger and bigger, while their paycheck was getting smaller and smaller. And when they could not pay their mortgage to the bank, the bank took their house away.

This was happening to many people who cried to their President and Congress for help. But what did their Congress do? They just laughed. For Fanny and Freddie were sneaky children. They would give their friends in Congress many gifts and presents. Gifts of special mortgages (that the poor people could never get) and gifts of money. Some got many gifts. Dodd of Connecticut got $133,900, Obama of Illinois got $105,849, Pelosi of California got $32,750. And they did nothing for they wanted more gifts.

And then the crash came, August of 2008. The banks started failing and there was no one to give the gift of mortgage. For Fanny and Freddie were very, very ill. They couldn't save the banks or even themselves. And the Congress finally had to do something before they would die. But what did they do? They gave them more money. $700 trillion of the people's money they would give. It would help save the 2 children and give the banks a chance to live.

But them people who knew how the banks should have worked said please don't do this, it will do more harm than good. To give such a sum without government oversite, would only create the same conditions we now face.

So nothing is being done, and banks are failing. The people are still losing their homes, and all we get is the evil Democrats crying: IT'S JOHN MCCAIN'S FAULT!

IT IS NOT!

Senator Joseph Biden is the Mouse That Roared

Joe Biden, a long term Senator from Delaware cum Vice Presidential candidate, has taken upon himself the mantle of the attack dog for his running mate, Barack Obama. But is it working, or is Biden finding himself trying too hard to make himself heard?
In Leonard Wibberley's novel and the subsequent Peter Sellers movie of the same name released in 1959 The Mouse that Roared, a small and insignificant country does the unthinkable, with hilarious results; they attack the United States. While the truth is indeed often stranger than fiction, in the novel, and the movie, the theme works, and the upstart little nation wins, by losing.

Joseph Biden, while not necessarily an insignificant political candidate, has, however, taken on a task that it could be argued that he isn't up for. Biden has undertaken to attack Republican Presidential candidate Senator John McCain over issues of foreign policy. Biden, of course, as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, seems to think he has the upper hand on understanding how to handle foreign relations over John McCain, and possibly, in his own way of thinking, he does, as he in a recent speech criticized McCain over several points, including McCain's attitude toward Russia:

John McCain has gotten it wrong on so many fundamental issues. Imagine; imagine if we had listened to John McCain when he tried to remove Russia from the G8. That’s the industrial nations, last year. Such a move would not have done anything to stop Russia from the inextricable and unfair and overwhelming invasion of an independent country of Georgia. But I tell you what it would have done: it would have triggered a crisis in our alliance since no one else in Europe thought that action should be taken. An alliance we now need, we now need to help us in dealing with Russian aggression.”

Is Biden saying here that Russia was stopped from invading Georgia? I don't know what news outlet he was watching or where he was getting his information, but Georgia was in fact invaded by the Russians this summer and there are still, today, Russian troops occupying territory inside what is sovereign Georgian territory. Of course, Senator Biden has a record of changing things a bit to suit his own purposes, himself, having supported, initially, the war in Iraq and then changing his position on that, as well as supporting military action in Bosnia.

Perhaps there is another issue that needs to be addressed in the case of Senator Biden in examining his attacks on John McCain over issues of foreign relations. Biden, who has been a lawyer and a politician for his entire working life (Biden is one of the six longest term senators to hold office in the nation), Biden doesn't have the up close and personal experience in dealing with representatives of foreign nations in the worst of times that McCain has:

John McCain's capture and subsequent imprisonment began on October 26, 1967. He was flying his 23rd bombing mission over North Vietnam, when his A-4E Skyhawk was shot down by a missile over Hanoi.[30][31] McCain fractured both arms and a leg, and then nearly drowned, when he parachuted into Truc Bach Lake in Hanoi.[30] After he regained consciousness, some North Vietnamese pulled him ashore, then others crushed his shoulder with a rifle butt and bayoneted him.[30] McCain was then transported to Hanoi's main Hoa Lo Prison, nicknamed the "Hanoi Hilton".[31]

Although McCain was badly wounded, his captors refused to treat his injuries, instead beating and interrogating him to get information, and he was given medical care only when the North Vietnamese discovered that his father was a top admiral.[33] His status as a prisoner of war (POW) made the front pages of major newspapers.[34][35]

McCain spent six weeks in the hospital while receiving marginal care.[30] Now having lost 50 pounds (23 kg), in a chest cast, and with his hair turned white,[30] McCain was sent to a different camp on the outskirts of Hanoi[36] in December 1967, into a cell with two other Americans who did not expect him to live a week.[37] In March 1968, McCain was put into solitary confinement, where he would remain for two years.[38]

A far cry, it would seem, from state dinners and conferences. McCain is often criticized by opponents and naysayers about having no experience outside of politics and military service. That same scrutiny can be applied to Senator Biden, who is one of the six longest term senators to serve in Washington, and to Barack Obama, as well, whose work as a "community organizer" is a dressed up name for "lobbyist." Adding to that Biden's failure twice to win in a bid of his own for his party's nomination for party candidate for the Presidency, Biden, in what could be considered a conciliatory position as Vice Presidential candidate, could be, himself, that roaring mouse trying to make a bluster and noise bigger than he is capable of achieving.

The Difference in Leadership and Making a Speech!

Cross posted from Monkey in the Middle

There is a major difference between the 2 candidates, John McCain and Barack Hussein Obama. A very big difference. LEADERSHIP.

It takes a very strong man to walk away from an election or to suspend his campaigning this close to Election Day. But again we see the character of the 2 men. For John McCain has suspended his campaign in order to work on this economic crises that this nation is facing.
Republican presidential candidate John McCain announced Wednesday that he is suspending his campaign to return to Washington and focus on the "historic" crisis facing the U.S. economy.

The Arizona senator called on his Democratic rival, Barack Obama, to do the same. He also urged organizers of Friday's presidential debate at the University of Mississippi to postpone the event.

"I am calling on the president to convene a meeting with the leadership from both houses of Congress, including Senator Obama and myself," McCain told reporters in New York. "It is time for both parties to come together to solve this problem."

There was no immediate response from the Obama campaign.

Knowing Senator Obama and his people, they will call this a publicity stunt and continue to make speeches.

This is not the time of speech making or rhetoric. It is the time for both parties to sit down and come up with real solutions to this problem. This is not the time for casting blame on each other. It is the time for a bi-partisan effort to fix this mess. This is the time for a leader to arise and take charge. And he has. It is John McCain. A man who would give up a chance for the White House in order to save his nation. A true American Patriot. A man worthy of your vote.

Race Card: Round 752

(This and more at America Needs Me)

One of those uppity female governors is at it again. This time it's Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius who, instead of moose hunting, tends to just shoot her mouth off and hit herself right in the credibility.

“Have any of you noticed that Barack Obama is part African-American?” Sebelius asked in response to a question about why the election is so close. “That may be a factor. All the code language, all that doesn’t show up in the polls. And that may be a factor for some people.”

Rename them the Narcissistic Hubris Party now. They just don't get anything. They're so blinded by the Obama aura that they can't conceive of anyone voting against him for sound reasons. This race card deck is stacked and will be played more brazenly as this campaign wears on. They aren't even doing it subtly now.

So sorry, Gov. Sebelius, but the discerning voter can't join you in your messianic frenzy. I've got a follow-up question for yours:

Have you noticed that Barack Obama is all socialist?

Half the country has. Pay attention.

The Feminist and The Fauxminists

Cross-posted from America Needs Me

A cruel person would enjoy watching alleged feminists, hereafter referred to as fauxminists, endure prolonged spasms of apoplexy as Sarah Palin continues her march right over their illogical assertions about why she doesn't really represent them.

The main thing separating Sarah Palin from the fauxminist ideal is that she has been able to accomplish their dream with greater success and without a shitty hairdo.

It is time for these caterwauling pro-choice maniacs to exercise their right to choose to shut the hell up.

Most galling are the comparisons between "Good Bitch Hillary" and Gov. Palin. Hint to the ladies: you might want to focus on the woman who didn't need to let a man crap all over her to get where she is. Just sayin'.

The Wall Street Journal is the last major American newspaper that one doesn't have to travel to Barack Obama's backside to read. As such, while covering Sarah Palin this week the paper has offered forth that rarest of all finds in the American press: some actual journalism. Even its Opinion pieces seem more like real reporting than what we've seen above the fold from the major newspapers this week.

The rambling nature of my A.D.D. riddled brain doesn't allow for me to be succinct. Here's a paragraph from this article that explains what I have been saying for the past few days:

"Sarah Palin has put the flim-flam nature of America feminism sharply into focus, revealing the not-so-secret hypocrisy of its code and, whatever her future, this alone is an accomplishment. As she emerged into the nation's consciousness, a shudder went through the feminist left-a political movement not restricted to females. She is a mother refusing to stay at home (good) who had made a success out in the workplace (excellent) whose marriage nevertheless is a rip-roaring success and whose views are unspeakable-those of a red-blooded, right-wing principled pragmatist."

I could never pull off using a phrase like "flim-flam".

As the above quote indicates, left-leaning men have subscribed to the feminist ideal for years.

So...

It's interesting that the McCain campaign features some female CEOs and a female VP candidate. The Democratic ticket has a couple of dudes and a vanquished token. You can see why the fauxminists are mad, can't you?

There's a palpable fear being exhibited by the women who have largely been treating feminism like a fashionable fetish now that a real woman has shown up and done all that they've wanted to do. That their first instinct is to tear her apart is very telling about just how deep their convictions are.

It is impossible to open a world of possibilities by narrowly defining what the achievement of those possibilities is. Saying "You can have whatever you want as long as you're exactly like me..." isn't exactly the path to a dream.

The feminist movement in America lost the largest part of its credibility when it embraced Bill and Hillary Clinton. Singularly focused on abortion, it ignored the fact that Bill was a sexual predator and celebrated Hillary acting like a spineless pushover to achieve her goals. Hillary Clinton, feminist icon, would have gotten absolutely nowhere without her husband.

Ah...there's the rub.

Sarah Palin didn't use her husband's money, position or permission to get where she is.

It's the exposition of tokenism vs. merit that has the Feminist Left up in arms. Gov. Palin earned her position without quotas or a man paving her way. She earned it by working hard and being Sarah Palin.

That doesn't resonate with people who believe that government intervention trumps individual accomplishment.

Don't know about you but I look forward to watching the Woman Who Has Done It go up against the Women Who Have Talked About It.

Reasons to vote for John Sidney McCain

Cross posted from Monkey in the Middle

This is to those PUMAs and Independents who keep telling me that John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate is a bad one.

I am telling them this:

John McCain will not raise your taxes! Barack Hussein Obama will. He will have to raise them to pay for all the Nanny State programs he is proposing for the nation. Remember this: Obama is a liberal who follows the idea of tax and spend. Not save and reward.

John McCain will not snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Barack Hussein Obama will pull our troops out of Iraq (and probably Afghanistan) the day he becomes President. Cut and run like the coward he is.

John McCain will take a very hard stance against Iran, China and Russia. Barack Hussein Obama has already started talking to Iran and talking about giving in to them. Barack Hussein Obama will talk even after they develop an nuclear weapon.

John McCain will not accept a Supreme Court nominee that thinks the court should make law, instead of interpreting it. Barack Hussein Obama will follow all the recommendations that the ACLU gives him.

John McCain is a gun owner and a member of the NRA. Barack Hussein Obama will try to take your guns from you. Barack Hussein Obama has voted for every law that restricts the ownership of guns, regardless of what lie he has told the media.

John McCain will insure your rights. Barack Hussein Obama wants to create a national police force. Can anyone say Gestapo? Do we really need it? And guess how Barack Hussein Obama plans to pay for it? Tax and spend.

John McCain will not weaken our military and national security. Barack Hussein Obama is not able to get a security clearance. He is considered a security risk.

John McCain knows that in this world we must always keep our nuclear option open. Barack Hussein Obama will destroy all of our nuclear weapons in the hope that all other nations will do the same.

Barack Hussein Obama is a friend of terrorists (Bill Ayers), a racists (Jeremiah Wright), and crooks (Tony Rezko). Barack Hussein Obama is a man who speaks a good game, but has no substance. He is like cotton candy, sweet and lovely to eat, but without any nutrients to sustain like. It is good to have once and a while, but a steady diet of it will rot your teeth and have you gain a lot of weight. Barack Hussein Obama is a man with no real experience. He is a lightweight in a field of heavyweights, propped up by a liberal media who only saw that he was a black man and not the truth behind the facade. Barack Hussein Obama is the wrong choice for America. He would be the wrong choice for any nation.

John McCain is a war hero who in his entire adult life has served his nation. He was captured, tortured and forced to sign a fake confession to crimes he did not commit. Every man has his breaking point, but to John McCain's credit he refused to meet with various anti-war groups seeking peace in Hanoi, wanting to give neither them nor the North Vietnamese a propaganda victory. Nor did he ever sign another confession. Or allow himself to be released early on the account of who his father was.

John McCain is a man of honor and integrity. He is forged of hardened steel and will not crack or break under pressure. He will not do anything to destroy the security of this nation. His friends are not terrorists, racists or crooks. He is the only clear choice for the job.

What is needed for meeting the challenges of this world is a President with knowledge and experience. The Presidency is not made for On The Job Training. It needs a leader who will be able to start working with ideas and knowledge from Day One. It need and we need John Sidney McCain.

Vet That, Barack

Cross posted from America Needs Me

Going out on a limb here to say that Sarah Palin may not be the yokel that the MSM Obama lackeys have been making her out to be.

There's some small town America for ya, you effete, delusional, never-gonna-get-it socialist nimrods.

Perhaps I'm not expressing myself clearly: Madame "Just A Small Town Mayor" just laid some serious smack down on Team Obie. Hell, her daughter is a tougher guy than your average male Democrat.

What we learned:

1) After enduring concerted, relentless attacks by an unhinged faux-journalist community that's in the bag for Barack Obama, Sarah Palin emerged poised, tough and ready to go on the attack. Worse for the Dems-she was relaxed and smiling.

2) She may not know everything there is to know about foreign policy but she's knows plenty about fighting.

3) Sarah Palin-Feminism We Can Believe In.

4) MSNBC has plenty bad to say about it-good enough for me!

5) Experience level? With far less practice in the national spotlight, Sarah Palin gave a speech as good as any Obama has given.

6) BTW, Democrats, McCain's service to this country does matter and is the real story.

7) Republicans talk about national security, Democrats talk about windmills.

I did a quick perusal of the cable news joints. CNN had a lot of commercials on at first then I got to see them sink to yet another new low. Carl Bernstein accelerated the "McCain is going to die in office..." rhetoric that the press has been pimping since last Friday by asking "What happens if John McCain dies between now and November 4th, will this be the nominee of the Republican party?" When are they going to get their "McCain Death Watch" graphic to put on screen for their election coverage?

MSNBC did the "Yeah, but..." thing. NBC White House Correspondent David Gregory said she benefitted from "lowered expectations". Lowered expectations? Everyone outside of the nuthole that is NBC News said she that it was imperative for Sarah Palin kill it tonight. She's dealt with a family crisis and stepped onto a stage only one other woman has ever seen and fucking destroyed it.

How about those biased Fox News folks? Charles Krauthammer said it was a great speech but he still doubted her national security qualifications. They're in bed with Obama now! Or maybe...

It was a great speech. She's a woman who didn't have to take a humiliating ride on her husband's coattails to get here like another prominent female from this election. Despite the demented ramblings of David Gregory, everything was in place for this evening not to go well for Sarah Palin. There were millions of Republicans in America who still weren't sold on her so it wasn't all "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy" with the party for her. One little hiccup and the Obama Bitches in the MSM would have been on her before she stepped off the stage. That they had to resort to sexist "lowered expectations" crap speaks volumes.

If she can hold her own in the debate Barack Obama might want to buy a house in one of those cool places he lived while growing up.

"Obama/Vitriol '08-Smear We Can Believe In"

(Cross posted at "America Needs Me")

That's the ticket.

Get used to the gutter-crawling from the Left because that is really all they have to offer. You would think that the Changey/Hopey folk would want to offer forth a vision of what their transcendent candidate, less than one week removed from his "symphony" and "masterpiece" of a speech, can truly do for his country. Here's what we've gotten from them so far:

Sarah Palin is a bad mother and John McCain is going to die at any moment.

If there was ever any doubt that the Main Stream Media lives on its knees in front of Obama's zipper, the last few days should have erased it.

In anticipation of Gov. Palin's speech tonight, the MSM Obama hacks have really ratcheted up the remarkably weak-ass attacks on her. It's a veritable "symphony" of desperation. The attacks don't have any substance, so they're trying to overwhelm with sheer volume.

Let's start with the most rapidly declining major city newspaper in America, The Los Angeles Times, which is now published from the back of a van in a downtown LA alley. It's remaining subscriber alerted me to these stories. The Times features a couple of hit pieces on Sarah Palin today. There probably would have been more but they couldn't afford the extra paper.

First, this one by Tim Rutten starts off highlighting what one of the Left's major problems is with Sarah Palin:

"...there's the fact that they appear unwilling to let her be alone with the media. God forbid anyone should ask about her views on, say, global warming -- she doesn't believe that human activity has anything to do with it. Perhaps they don't want anyone to hear her explain why she opposes hate-crime laws?"

Well, Tim, she's been preparing the most important speech of her life, taking care of a family crisis and, being the only true outsider in this race, meeting some key people. So, she's been a little f-ing busy. Obeisance to an unfair media monster isn't high on the GOP priority list these days.

Look at the questions he poses. I'll translate: "How can you be a successful woman and not be a Democrat? It's an outrage, I tell you!"

Along with the quick dispatching of Obama's change theme, Sarah Palin also K.O.'d a tired feminist line that was never true in the first place. The feminists, still compromised from having disappeared when Bill Clinton was preying on young women, are spinning out of control now that their "either/or" view has been spanked all to bejesus. I assume that Tim Rutten is a believer in feminism because he has an opinion column in a major newspaper. Plus, his picture shows him to be bearded and burly, just like all the women at NOW and NARAL.

Make sure your stomach isn't too full and read Rutten's whole piece. He accuses McCain of trying to hide behind appeals to privacy. Ironic, given that ever since the Supreme Court found that very, very well hidden "right to privacy" for Roe v. Wade, the Left has been hiding behind appeals to privacy so much that there probably isn't any room to squeeze someone from the Right in.

Next up from the Weekly World News L.A. Times is this bloviating exercise in condescension from Sam Harris.

Since the Palin pick, McCain's detractors have all become actuaries at MetLife. We should worry, the argument goes, about Sarah Palin becoming president because John McCain is going to kick at any time, actuarially speaking, of course.

The guy's survived the Viet Cong and cancer but, "the pressures of the presidency" are going to kill him.

Hey, what do the actuarial tables say about African-American men who smoke?

Of course they don't go there because they're presumably on board with Biden stepping in. We've heard a lot of talk about Joe Biden being ready to be president these past few days. So ready, in fact, that voters in his own party have twice rejected him for the job.

The opening line from the Harris drivel is another gem of nothingness that indicates just how off-balance the McCain haters are since Sarah Palin knocked them backwards:

"So let us ask the question that should be on the mind of every thinking person in the world at this moment: If John McCain becomes the 44th president of the United States, what are the odds that a blood clot or falling object will make Sarah Palin the 45th?"

Naturally, as "every thinking person in the world" is aware, falling objects are sentient beings that tend to seek out the older among us.

On to the real condescension:

"Americans have an unhealthy desire to see average people promoted to positions of great authority."

Whoa...sounds like someone does a lot of shopping at elitistprick.com!

"Unhealthy"? More desperate flailing. "Average"? Harris must have gone to one of those schools where all the kids grow up to be state governors.

Explain to me how holding one of only fifty available jobs in a country of over three hundred million is average.

Allow me to speak on Mr. Harris's behalf:

"Well, you know, it's a western state...not as many people...blah, blah, blah. Screw it, I just hate Republicans!"

The Marxist Line Dance Society at the New York Times has its daily Palin hit piece out in the Opinion page. It's a mild one today when compared to Maureen Dowd throwing up all over herself yesterday. Thomas Friedman talks about the green angle to this election and the McCain/Palin ticket being nothing but shills for Big Oil. The first lefty in days to actually talk about Palin and issues and the whole piece is so limp you can almost hear the "Viva, Viagra!" commercial playing in the background.

To the chagrin of all on the Left, Sarah Palin will be speaking at the convention tonight. Many pundits say she has to hit one out of the park tonight.

Even more of us say she already has.

God's thoughts on the election.

Cross posted from Monkey in the Middle

From the Jerusalem Post

by Shmuley Boteach
It's time to play that all-American game, Who is God Punishing Now? Three years ago, when Katrina devastated New Orleans, some on the religious Right suggested that the city with the infamous French Quarter was being destroyed for its debauchery. God poured fire and brimstone on Sodom in ancient times, and rained down lightning and broken levies on New Sodom in modern times.

Fast forward three years and here we go again, only this time God is punishing innocent men and women in Louisiana for the Republican Convention in Minnesota. According to filmmaker Michael Moore, "Gustav is proof that there is a God in heaven... that it would actually be on its way to New Orleans for Day One of the Republican convention up in the Twin Cities."

The theme was echoed by Don Fowler, the South Carolina Democratic Party chairman, who joked that the hurricane was God's favor to Democrats. But Fowler will have to forgive some New Orleans residents, both Democrat and Republican, if they don't get the joke.

WE AMERICANS are a famously religious people, and can therefore be forgiven for sometimes claiming to know the mind of God. But it behooves us to always remember the words of Abraham Lincoln, who said, when asked whether God was fighting on the side of the Union armies: "We trust, sir, that God is on our side. It is more important to know that we are on God's side."

While none of us can know the mind of God, we can know right and wrong based on what all the world religions agree God has revealed to be moral, holy and ethical. I dare say that even atheists and agnostics agree with the general morality propounded by religion.

Based on this revealed, universal morality, here is a list of what we can assume, based on the Bible, God is thinking about the current presidential election.

1. We don't know if God wants Barack Obama to win or lose, but we certainly know that He is overjoyed that, perhaps for the first time in our history, tens of millions of Americans are looking beyond skin color and seeing all human beings as equal children of God and equally deserving of the highest national office. At the very beginning of the Bible, God made it clear that He created every human being equally in His image - something that it's taken us Americans several centuries to digest.

2. We don't know if God wishes John McCain to win or lose, but we know He shines with favor toward Cindy and John McCain for adopting their youngest daughter, Bridget, who is Bengali but has been welcomed as an equal alongside the McCains' three biological children.

3. America needs leadership, and people must run for president. But God instituted a Sabbath day of rest even in the midst of the toughest contests, to be with family and focus on what is even more important than becoming president. This is especially true for people like Obama and Sarah Palin, both of whom have children whose development cannot be put on hold until after an election. In this sense, both campaigns can learn from the example of Joe Lieberman who, while running for the vice presidency in 2000, refused to campaign on Saturdays and was with his family instead.

4. God loves unity among His children. The first social sin was the fratricidal conflict between Cain and Abel. Likewise, the Bible is clear that slander and character assassination are forbidden. Attack ads, therefore, are ungodly and unjust.

5. God loves the penitent. He shows special grace to those courageous enough to confess their sins and correct previous errors. We should therefore be forgiving both of Obama's admission to prior drug use and McCain's confession to moral lapses in his first marriage. America often punishes its leaders for their shortcomings. This is wrong. Righteousness in God's eyes is defined not as perfection but as engaging in the struggle to be better. So long as our leaders take responsibility for their actions and commit themselves to more righteous behavior in future, we should be inspired by their courage.

6. God delights in stories of redemption and joyfulness. He repeatedly commands us to be happy and rise above slights and resentment. This might explain why He has shined especially brightly on Obama and McCain. The former is a black man, abandoned by his father, who after educating himself in the best universities chose to work with the poor. The latter is a man who lived through hell for five and a half years but rose above the horrific experience of being tortured as a POW to devote himself to inspirational public work.

7. God does not mind that Obama made millions on his book, or that McCain has seven homes - so long as both are charitable. Those making money are required to give at least 10% to charity, and so long as they commit a significant percentage to the poor, we should applaud them for their industry.

8. God created the world with words such as "Let there be light." He demands that language likewise be used for constructive and holy purposes. God's favor therefore shines brightly on Obama's enormous capacity for using words to inspire. But the Bible makes it equally clear that God hates those who use language to sow discord. He therefore commands us to oppose people like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has repeatedly threatened to "wipe Israel off the map."

God calls on all men of justice - especially those in positions of leadership - to neutralize evil before its words are turned into irrevocable action.

From Monkey in the Middle:

I have been angry of late because I see flaws in what should have been a perfect running mate for John McCain. Angry until I read this. I forgot the basic principles of my faith. Judge not others harshly. It is not my place to have placed judgment on Sarah's daughter Bristol. This was a family affair and I should have stayed out of it, as should all of us. Sarah should be proud that her daughter made an adult decision, and the love and support that the Palin family is showing Bristol is commendable.

On the same token, although I dislike Barack Obama's views, I do admire him for the courage to run for President. As I admire my nation for looking beyond his race to his ideas. Many of us opposed to him forget this. What he achieved was something special. For once a black man has entered the Presidential political arena and was accepted as an equal.

John McCain is a man of deep integrity and courage. There is no doubt about that. How and why he chose Sarah Palin is his business, and the country must either except the ticket as he wants it, or reject it. Although Governor Palin isn't the first woman to be placed as a candidate for Vice President by a major party (Geraldine Ferraro has that honor), she may become our first woman Vice President. And that is a great achievement.

I keep hearing that God is a Republican, or favors the Republicans, and I find this to be an erroneous idea. God is neither Republican or Democrat, Conservative or Liberal. God is above party or political thinking. It is not whether God is on our side, but whether as President Abraham Lincoln said:

"It is more important to know that we are on God's side."

I trust that I am on God's side. Are you?

John Edwards Blames his own Celebrity

Cross-posted by Maggie at Maggie's Notebook

The John Edwards "affair," and his own words should give pause to every voter, not for the obvious reasons, but because he is such a weasel at heart.

...through a lot of work and success I got some acclaim as a lawyer. People were telling me, oh you're such a great person, such a great lawyer, such a talent, no telling what you'll do.

This was when I was 30, 31 years old. Then I went from being a young senator to being considered for vice president, running for president, being a vice presidential candidate, all of which fed a self-focus, an egotism, a narcissicism that leads you to believe you can do anything you want, you are invincible and there will be no consequences.
Blaming your public fall from grace on your ability to shill your followers is disingenuous and despicable.

The lesson for voters? Pompous and grandiose candidates are rejected by American voters, as was John Edwards, John Kerry and Al Gore.

Barack Obama will find that he is the not the One We Have Been Waiting For.

John McCain's First General Election Ad: SAFE

Cross Posted from Wake up America

John McCain is launching his first general election ad, 32 seconds long, in key swing states and is a personal bio explaining that while he hates war, he understands, better than most, the costs of war.

YouTube URL here, ad below.

In his new ad which will air in key swing states such as, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, he says, "Only a fool or a fraud talks romantically about war. When I was five years old my father left for war. My grandfather came home from war, and died the next day. I was shot down in Vietnam and spent five years as a POW. I hate war and I know how terrible its costs are. I’m running for president to keep the country I love safe.”

The ad is called "Safe" and during the 32 second video, black and white pictures are shown, which include photos of his grandfather, his father and pictures of himself in Hanoi.

For those unaware John McCain's service background, he was a naval aviator that was shot down, badly injured, and captured as a prisoner of war by the North Vietnamese. He spent five and a half years as a prisoner of war, experiencing episodes of torture.

McCain doesn't generally highlight that aspect of his history and on his bio page, he doesn't even mention being a POW for over five years, nor the fact that when he was offered release because his father was prominent, he refused, saying that others had been there longer than him.

These are words McCain very, very rarely says in public. But he recognizes -- and his campaign emphatically does -- the compelling nature of this experience and singular power it commands in an election when voters, no matter what they and McCain say, will vote on image and character as much as on substance and issues.

Character will play a very important part in Novembers general election, as some believe it should.

Stances on issues are important to the voting public but most are very aware that they want a president with character and this ad was created with that in mind as well as many pundits believing that character is as important if not more so than political positioning.

According to the New York Times, The Caucus, Democrats were surprised by the amount McCain's campaign spent on this ad to show in those key states mentioned above with one strategist suggesting that "McCain has committed to spend at least $3 million for television time over the next couple of weeks in various television markets in 10 states."

As The Caucus article mentions, the Republican National Committee has also launched a website about Barack Obama.

That website is called "Meet Barack Obama" with the sub header saying "Learn The Real Story About Illinois' Freshman Senator".

McCain Exposes His Ignorance of Islam

Anyone in contact with Senator John McCain and able to influence him could perform a valuable public service by directing him to this blog, where he could learn a little about Islam before opening his mouth and inserting his foot.

The Senator gave an interview to Beliefnet. Here is a prime excerpt. Note: the video did not perform well on dial up. They promise more video and transcripts Monday.

  • I admire the Islam. There's a lot of good principles in it. I think one of the great tragedies of the 21st century is that these forces of evil have perverted what's basically an honorable religion. But, no, I just have to say in all candor that since this nation was founded primarily on Christian principles.... personally, I prefer someone who I know who has a solid grounding in my faith. But that doesn't mean that I'm sure that someone who is Muslim would not make a good president.
  1. What good principles does McCain find in Islam? Perhaps its wankahoo with slave girls and 9 year olds?
  2. Is it the ordination of fighting?
  3. Or terror?
  4. Or taking booty?
  5. Or female inferiority?
  6. What makes that ignoramus declare that Islam was corrupted in the 21st century when it has a 1384 year track record of rapine??!??
  7. Doesn't he know about 2:216, 2:190, 8:12 , 8:39, 8:60, 8:67,9:5, 9:29, 9:111, 47:4, 48:15-20 & 61:4 ???
  8. Has he never seen Sahih Bukhari's books of Jihad or Khumus nor Al-Misri's Reliance of the Traveler?
It appears that Senator McCain thinks that Usama bin Laden invented Jihad, genocide & terrorism and perverted a religion of peace by introducing bida. How far he is from the truth!!! If only he had read our Myth vs Fact series, which exposes the Qur'anic origin of those evils which Muhammad practiced
