A Call to Arms--Amnesty, Troop Funding and HR 5515

Ladies and gentlemen, once again the not so bright Congress is trying to force amnesty down our throats. This time, it's been sneaked into the troop funding bill.

Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) is trying to sneak in an agricultural amnesty into the troop funding bill. This has been confirmed by both Democratic and Republican sources. It was passed by the Senate Appropriations Committee May 16, 2008 and a vote by the full Senate may occur early this week. Not only does this show Washington doesn't like what we say and is determined to do what it wants rather than perform to the wishes of the people, they have attached this to our troop funding bill. Our. Troop. Funding. Bill. The money for our military, to get them the equipment they need and all that goes with funding the military. Heinously illegal.

People, we have repeatedly told Washington, in NO uncertain terms, we are against amnesty in any form. We have to do it again, and we have to continue to stay on this issue and continue to pressure Washington until they get it through their thick skulls. No amnesty. Ever again. Enforce the existing laws and build the fence. More information on this issue and a chance to send a fax to your representative, free of charge (as well as phone information) can be found at NumbersUSA here. Follow the links, contact your representative and let your voices be heard, loud and clear. Be polite but relentless. Susan at Wake Up America has plenty of information as well.

Through Snooper at A Newt One, we also hear about HR5515. This little gem is designed to keep us from defending ourselves against the illegals and protecting our property and our persons. He was notified through a post at the Eeevil Conservative here. Again, follow the links to find out who the sponsors are, what the text of the bill is, etc. Here is a teaser of her article:
There is NO DOUBT in ANY of their minds that WE the American people are not willing to bend one iota on the issue of illegal alien squatters and those who employ them - until they take care of enforcing the laws that already exist (deportation and holding employers accountable) and find a way to STOP this invasion at the border FIRST!
Ladies and gentlemen it is clear--we have GOT to clean out Washington. Term limits is a great place to start (although my freshman representative--Gabrielle Giffords--is one of the sponsors of HR5515--and she ran on a strong enforce the borders campaign--what a liar). It is OBVIOUS those on the Hill don't give two hoots about their constituency. The inmates are running the asylum and we have got to (figuratively speaking) lock the inmates up and take back control of said asylum. As of yesterday.

If you want a solution (BESIDES--NOT instead of--calling, writing, faxing, emailing and flooding their offices with faxes before this vote), pay a visit to "What If America?". It offers a real solution, basically helping build the fence the government doesn't want to build and using the government's money to do so.

The time for talk is over. It's time to act.

Geert Wilders' film, FITNA, has been released. For all those wishing a true education into the hatred and violence of islam, I refer you to this film Mr.Wilders' now has a fatwa upon him for exposing the correlation between muslim acts and the verses of the koran. LiveLeak and United American Committee [UAC] both have the film up. LiveLeak is here and United American Committee [UAC] is here.

Here is the English Version of Fitna The Movie: Geert Wilders' Film About the Quran:

Spree at Wake Up America has several posts regarding the release of this movie and they are all worth reading. She has them summarized here and today's post is here. She's done the research and she has the goods--go read her posts, watch FITNA--and educate yourself as to the true threat we are facing.

It's not a war in Iraq, it's not a war in Afghanistan, Pakistan, or ANYWHERE else. It's a war against a murderous, zealot driven, societal ideology which is no more a religion of peace than the moon is made of green cheese. It IS about our very survival against barbarians.

Ben has posted a follow up at A Newt One titled "FITNA: Supporting Documentation" here; hopefully he will soon have it up here at MBVD.

Blurring the Lines--Politics, Religion and Terrorism

Cross posted from Wake up America

For those of us watching the chaos within the Democratic party in Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama's battle for the nomination is definitely a sight to see.

One campaign releases something that will hurt the other, the other campaign rushes to shift the spotlight to the other candidate and then the supporters of both campaigns jump into the fray and pound home the talking points.

In the meantime, both camps, in their fierce battle, are forgetting that every document, ever rumor proven true, every photo and every argument they are using against each other, is out there now, to be used against the party or eventual nominee for the November elections.

Lets take a walk through the events of the past couple of weeks.

Religion and Politics.

Recently there has been a firestorm in the news, blogosphere, forums and discussion groups about Barack Obama's association and his membership in the Trinity United Church of Christ and the words of his longtime pastor, friend and man Obama calls "like family", Jeremiah Wright, who has been in the news with snippets of some of his sermons shown, saying "God Damn America".

To be clear, some of his comments, such as the one I just mentioned, were offensive to many and the fact that Obama first denied hearing any of those comments, then admitted to hearing them but said he disagreed with them, led to questions of his own ideology and why he would continue to go to that church of he did not agree with the majority of what Wright was saying.

Legitimate questions all.

Other snippets from Wright's sermons were taken out of context and blared across America without bothering to separate the legitimately offensive racists words from the portions where Wright was simply quoting other people.

Obama then gave a speech, 30 plus minutes where he distanced himself from his Pastor's remarks, but to which he was criticized because he did not distance himself from the man himself.

Hillary Clinton supporters, specifically Lanny Davis, via the Huffington Post, then challenged Obama to answer a couple questions that were not answered in that speech.

1. If a white minister preached sermons to his congregation and had used the "N" word and used rhetoric and words similar to members of the KKK, would you support a Democratic presidential candidate who decided to continue to be a member of that congregation?

2. Would you support that candidate if, after knowing of or hearing those sermons, he or she still appointed that minister to serve on his or her "Religious Advisory Committee" of his or her presidential campaign?

I hope my message gets to someone in the Obama campaign -- or to a reporter traveling with the Senator -- who can persuade Senator Obama to answer them directly. As I just wrote, he will have to do so -- either now or perhaps in the fall.

Again, legitimate questions, but Hillary Clinton had still not jumped on that same bandwagon and has remained suspiciously quiet, at least publicly, about the Obama/Wright controversy.

The reason I say, at least publicly, is news reports show that according to "key allies", the Clinton campaign was "privately pushing the issue with key party members to lift her candidacy."

That same New York Time article reports that the Obama campaign, in an attempt to shift focus from his relationship with Wright, supplied The New York Times with a picture of Mr. Wright and President Bill Clinton at the White House in 1998 at a breakfast meeting with religious leaders hours before the Starr report on the Monica Lewinsky scandal was made public.

(A photo from the Obama campaign of President Bill Clinton with the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. at a breakfast in 1998.)

They further provided a letter from Bill Clinton thanking Wright for his "kind message" and saying they were touched by his prayers.

Blurring the lines.

In politics it is easy to blur the lines between legitimate questions and associations and what many would call illegitimate questions and association.

This morning's news is full of what many would and are categorizing as the latter of the two.

One example of what many are citing as a blurring of those lines is in a story that is creating some talk about Obama.

The Obama buzz is about a Trinity United Church of Christ, Obama's church, and a newsletter that was published on July 22, 2007, where the church reprinted an article by Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzook in which he justifies Hamas' withholding of recognition of Israel's right to exist. The article originally appeared as an op-ed in the Los Angeles Times.

The reason that many are calling this an illegitimate association is because the World New Daily published an article about the Church reprinting that op-ed, yet WND did not get a response from Obama...... someone else did though and his response clearly denounces the op-ed, the fact that it was published in the churches newsletter as well as harshly condemning his pastor's views about Israel.

In a statement emailed to JTA late Thursday, Obama said, "A pro-Hamas op-ed printed in his church's bulletin is "outrageously wrong."

Obama's continues, "I have already condemned my former pastor's views on Israel in the strongest possible terms, and I certainly wasn’t in church when that outrageously wrong Los Angeles Times piece was re-printed in the bulletin. Hamas is a terrorist organization, responsible for the deaths of many innocents, and dedicated to Israel's destruction, as evidenced by their bombarding of Sderot in recent months. I support requiring Hamas to meet the international community's conditions of recognizing Israel, renouncing violence, and abiding by past agreements before they are treated as a legitimate actor.

He concludes his statement with, "The story of Queen Esther and her uncle Mordechai saving the Jews of ancient Persia from destruction. Even as the parties are held, the songs are sung, and the noisemakers are rattled, the history of a people that has had to fight for its survival, remains at the heart of the Purim story. In our day, the celebration is mingled with a determination to ensure that Israel remains safe and strong, that we fight anti-Semitism wherever it occurs, and that the American Jewish community continues to play such an active and vital role in the life of our nation."

The problem with blurring the lines between legitimate questions about Obama's association with Wright and publishing a piece such as the one above without also publishing Obama's response and clear condemnation causes difficulty in allowing people to see the whole picture.

In politics the statement "all is fair in love and war" can be applied but without context, without providing full disclosure of information available and without acknowledging Obama's full and stringent denouncement of Wright's pro-terrorism sympathies, the lines between legitimate and illegitimate criticisms are becoming blurred to the point where the public cannot separate truth from rumor.

If the public cannot separate the questions that need to be asked about why Barack Obama would continue a 17 year relationship with a racists, terrorist sympathizer, like Wright, from intellectually dishonest questions and associations that imply that Obama himself is a terrorist sympathizer, when he has made it clear he is not, then it is the public at large, the citizens and voters that lose out the most by not having the full range of information available to them.

The Release of Barack Obama's 2005-06 Earmark Requests Brings up Questions

Cross posted from Wake up America

Barack Obama has released his earmarked federal spending requests for 2005 and 2006 having previously released his requests for 2007. In the recent release there are specific requests that are being questioned in the media today.
In the midst of all three presidential candidates, Clinton, Obama and McCain, backing a proposal in the Senate to ban all earmarks for one year, an amendment to the Senate's 2009 budget act, which the Senate rejected with a vote of 29-71, Barack Obama has released his list of requested earmarks for 2005-06, then calling on Hillary Clinton to release a list of hers.

The Senate roll call on that vote found here.

"Earmarking" is the word used for a provision in legislation that directs funds to be spent on specific projects. Usually, legislators seek to insert earmarks which direct a specified amount of money to a particular organization or project in his/her home state or district.

John McCain has long been known to be a vocal critic of earmarks and has refused to request spending for projects in his home state of Arizona. McCain recently challenged both of his Democratic rivals to reveal their earmarks for transparency.

Hillary Clinton ranked 10th highest in the list of Senators, for her $342 million worth of earmarks last year and has not released the details of her requests for 2007.

Barack Obama secured $98 million for Illinois projects for the fiscal year of 2008, but his requests totaled $311 million, according to the list he has just released.

Furthermore, according to information released Thursday by Obama, he had 138 earmark requests for the 2007 fiscal year.

His total requested funding was about $330 million.

One of those earmarks is being questioned. The earmark is listed as being for a "High Explosive Air Burst Technology Program".

Obama Requested $8 Million And Helped Secure $1.3 Million For The High Explosive Air Burst Technology Program. In 2006, Obama requested $8 million and helped secure $1.3 million for High Explosive Air Burst Technology funding. Through General Dynamics, this project supported the 25mm Bushmaster cannon, the primary weapon on the Army Bradley Fighting Vehicle (BFV) and the US Marines’ Light Armor Vehicle (LAV). Under contract for System Design and Demonstration (SDD), GD-OTS is developing a Family of Ammunition for the Army’s Future Combat System (FCS) to include a High Explosive Air Burst (HEAB) round. This program will upgrade the capability of the current forces BFV and LAV. Additional funding for the 25mm HEAB for the SFV and LAV will ensure this program will run effectively during its planned service until 2051. [House Report 109-676 (109th Congress); Obama Request Letter To The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, 2006]

That request resulted in $1.3 million in funding for the program, which was a defense project that was overseen by General Dynamics, one of the nation's largest military contractors. Obama's Illinois finance chairman, James S. Crown, serves on the company's board of directors and his family holds a large stake in the company.

Crown and his wife, Paula Crown, are members of Obama's National Finance Committee and have raised more than $200,000 for the Obama campaign, according to a list of fundraisers posted on Obama's campaign website.

Another one of the earmarks on the lists of requests was for the Construction Of A New Hospital Pavilion At The University Of Chicago, where Michelle Obama works:

Obama Requested $1 Million For Construction Of A New Hospital Pavilion At The University Of Chicago. In 2006, Obama requested that the University of Chicago receive $1 million to support its Construction of New Hospital Pavilion. For more than 75 years, the University of Chicago Hospitals (UCH) has provided state of the art medical care on the South Side of Chicago. UCH is one of the largest Medicaid providers in Illinois, and it provided more than $90 million in uncompensated care for Medicare and Medicaid patients this past year. To continue providing the best care for patients from all walks of life, UCH is proceeding with the construction of a new 600,000 square foot facility that will ensure their ability to provide the best care for patients well into the future. Funding will go towards assisting the construction and equipping a new hospital pavilion that will increase the Hospitals' clinical capacity by over one-third. [Obama Request Letter to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water, 4/7/06]

The reason the media is questioning that particular earmark is because of what could be considered a conflict of interest.

His wife, Michelle Obama, has worked for the University of Chicago Hospitals since 2002, at the time she was executive director of community affairs, making a salary of, according to the CNN Money, $121,910. That salary rose to $316,962 in 2005 as she became vice president of community affairs, right after Barack Obama became the Senator for Illinois.

The Obama campaign says that neither of those earmarks were discussed with Michelle Obama or James S. Crown.

The complete list of requested earmarks for Barack Obama can be found here.

Aides to the Obama campaign say he will not be requesting any earmarks this year.

Now that Obama has released this list for public scrutiny, he is joining McCain is challenging Hillary Clinton to release her requested earmarks, in a release from the Obama Campign that says, "If Sen. Clinton will not agree to join Sen. Obama in releasing her earmark requests, voters should ask why she doesn't believe they have the right to know [how] she wants to spend their tax dollars."

H/T Talk Left and the Campaign Spot.

NYT is also discussing Obama calling for Hillary to release her requested earmarks.

Obama’s Dilemma and Our Potential Tragedy

Cross posted from Faultline USA and WUA.

Unless Obama is willing to come clean with America about his actual racial views and to explain how he could follow the teachings of a racist pastor for over twenty years, Obama will lose the Presidency and set back race relations in America for many years to come.

It’s not enough for Obama to play down Rev. Wright’s approach, or to describe Wright as “an old uncle I sometimes don’t agree with.” Obama must disavow his pastor and his racist church. Obama must explain to America how he plans to unite America while maintaining membership in a racist church that teaches hatred of America!!! (For more details on his church see the sidebar under Obama Revealed.)

The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America.' No, no, no, God damn America, that's in the Bible for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme.

These are the words of Obama’s pastor, who just retired this last month, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Wright is Obama’s mentor and the inspiration for Obama’s second book, The Audacity of Hope. ABC broke the story Thursday. “Good Morning America" aired this Brian Ross report on Barack Obama's pastor, Jeremiah Wright.

It would appear that Obama makes no bold political moves without first checking with Wright. This is from a January 2007 Chicago Tribune profile of Rev. Jeremiah Wright:

“When Obama sought his own church community, he felt increasingly at home at Trinity. Before leaving for Harvard Law School in 1988, he responded to one of Wright's altar calls and declared a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Later he would base his 2004 keynote speech to the Democratic National Convention on a Wright sermon called "Audacity to Hope," --also the inspiration for Obama's second memoir, "The Audacity of Hope."

Though Wright and Obama do not often talk one-on-one often, the senator does check with his pastor before making any bold political moves.

Last fall, Obama approached Wright to broach the possibility of running for president. Wright cautioned Obama not to let politics change him, but he also encouraged Obama, win or lose. . .”

Digg It!!!

Melanie Morgan sends out an Action Alert

Cross posted from Wake up America

VIA EMAIL from Melanie Morgan:

I am having a flashback.

Several, in fact.

Each time I write about the bombing of the Marine Recruiting center in New York City, images in my head from the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon meld together.

I was there in 1983, reporting for my former employer, ABC.

I spent nearly a month examining terrorism up close, and it's hate filled connections to Hamas and Hezbollah.

Marine Compound, Beirut 1983

I still have nightmares about the deaths of 283 Marines who were murdered by terrorists, just like our Marines are being attacked now.

Last time, it was foreign enemies.

Now it is domestic enemies.

Marine Recruiting Center, New York City, March 4th, 2008

The Left is growing increasingly impatient because they have lost all battles in the halls of Congress and with the hearts and minds of proud citizens of this country with their demand withdraw American troops from Iraq, just as we are winning the war.

Their hatred, hostility and traitorous behavior is a sign of desperation.

Homeland Security, are you watching? Do you hear our pleas for investigation and prosecution?

From today's New York Daily News on the latest.

“Fuck state power! And let’s be clear, the right wing groups like A Gathering of Eagles, and Move America Forward, are not only all about state power, but they want state power to be used to crush us. They represent the most reactionary elements of the state which support the most disgusting acts performed by “our troops,” from the bombing of Fallujah to the torture of Iraqi civilians, to supporting the mercenary pigs of Blackwater.
You can argue that World Can’t Wait, Answer, and Code Pink are authoritarian groups, but who do you see wielding the ax at your throat the most, right now as you read these words? What is needed right now is direct confrontation of these right-wing assholes who are coming to our area, in order to silence and keep us in line (oink!). Think what great advancement and opportunities will come if the Marine station closes down, we can already see the great amount of debate and polarization that is happening just by challenging the existence of one military recruitment center. Let’s turn up the heat!!!

Catherine Moy at blogs about the situation.

“The deviant who bombed the Times Square recruiting station and the punks who harass and attack recruiters in Berkeley and elsewhere should understand something: The United States Army, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard and Marines don’t flinch when it comes to firebombs, Nazis, despots, Commies, IEDs, or smelly hippies.

The Times Square recruiters are back to work. But only a mental weakling would have thought anything different. Army Captain Charles Jaquillard said the incident was like a touch of inclement weather, according to the New York Times.

“For whatever reason this was done,” he said, “there are other ways to get a point across. Whatever that point was, whether it was to stop our recruiting operations or something else, obviously it was a fruitless effort.”
After the police left in the afternoon, Captain Jaquillard deployed two soldiers at the station because the shattered door had been removed. There were computers and other valuable equipment inside, as well as personnel records. The door was replaced in the afternoon.
Recruiting goes on, he emphasized, comparing the bombing to a spell of bad weather

Police captured more images of the fool on the bike who placed the IED. This may help solve the case and lead to his arrest and prosecution. Images of violence and crime are obviously important, which is why Move America Forward has demanded the city of Berkeley erect 24-hour surveillance at the Marine recruiting center on Shattuck Avenue.

Sure, the cameras would capture Code Pink doing yoga and scribbling on sidewalks like schoolgirls, but they would also snag the criminals who assault, batter and generally attack citizens trying to enter the recruiting center.”

Now is the time to take to the streets, and make a POWERFUL STATEMENT to the rest of the country about our resolve to support military men and women in the efforts to defeat al-Queda and the Islamists and their enablers.

The same crypto-fascists who are vandalizing, harassing, assaulting people, while possibly bombing our Military recruiting centers, are gathering in Washington next week.

Let's greet them with a fierce resolve to SUPPORT OUR TROOPS.

Go to Gathering of Eagles for the D.C. counter-protest that I will be attending NEXT WEEK.

Nine Pro-troops organizations are joining together -- Move America Forward, the great Harry Riley from EaglesUp, VetsforFreedom, Families United, Military Order of the Purple Heart, and many others. We are landing in D.C. to fight against International A.N.S.W.E.R., CodePink, Funk the World and the other desperate anti-war, anti-American groups.

Will you join me?

Action, not words.

That's what we need right now.

Move America Forward will have details on our website for all the events in Washington, D.C. March 14th and 15th

Patriots rise to the call and join in this battle.

The War On Terror- Going After People That Terrorize

Cross posted from Wake up America

Whether one agrees with America's methods or the handling of the War on Terror, it is safe to say that almost everybody would agree that the US spends billions upon billions of dollars going after terrorists. Why does the US ignore the terrorists within?

The video above shows the National Imperial Wizard of the National Knights of Ku Klux Klan making statements/threats against Barack Obama, such as "somebody else, down south, will take him out," and "If that man is elected president, he'll be shot sure as hell".

Fox News Chicago was so worried about these statements they contacted the Secret Service, Department of Homeland Security and the Obama campaign.

A recent post right here showed that members of the Dallas Police Department expressed concern over what they called lapses in security at a recent event where Barack Obama gave a speech, where for the first hour members of the public that were attending were screened for weapons--then the screening stopped.

Today, we see reports the Secret Service, who apparently made those decisions, "defends security at Obama rally in Dallas".

In this new article, Eric Zahren, a spokesman for the Secret Service in Washington, states there was no deviation in how these events are normally handled; he then goes on to say, "It was never a part of the plan at this particular venue to have each and every person in the crowd pass through the Magnetometer."

The Magnometer is a device used to detect metal in clothing and bags.

Witnesses at other events, many for Obama, verify this.
Others said they had recently attended large political events, many for Obama, where security screening was halted. Jeremy Dibbell of Boston said in an e-mail that he attended an Obama event in Boston, "the same thing happened there. We waited for hours in line as people were screened, and then suddenly everyone was just allowed in without going through any inspection at all."
It is routine to not screen everybody for weapons who attends these events.

My original report about this event brought up some very disturbing questions and as I started to research, I found equally disturbing answers which led me into the world of hatred and terrorism within America, specifically those issuing threats against Barack Obama, and the glaring question of the US spending billions of dollars going after terrorists while ignoring the threats from terrorists within the US (the KKK, otherwise known as the Ku Klux Klan, as well as other groups of neo-nazi's and white supremacists).

First and foremost, what is the definition of terrorism?

1.The use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.

2.The state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.

The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is the name of several past and present organizations in the United States that have advocated white supremacy, anti-Semitism, anti-Catholicism, racism, homophobia, anti-Communism and nativism. These organizations have often used terrorism, violence and acts of intimidation, such as cross burning and lynching, to oppress African Americans and other social or ethnic groups. (Wiki)

ABC did a report in 2007, in which they assert the "number of hate groups -- from the Ku Klux Klan to neo-Nazis and skinhead groups -- has risen by 40 percent since 2000, from 602 to 844, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks such groups."

The KKK originated in 1866 during America's reconstruction after the Civil War, declined after the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871 and rose again in 1915; it has existed in this country since then, in one form or another.

The Ku Klux Klan is not the only group issuing threats against Obama. In my research I ran across many sites, forums and blogs and the comments in the comment sections show similar threats being issued, in some cases they simply discuss what would happen if Obama is elected and "someone shoots him" speaking to how that would cause the "inner cities" to "explode" and be the end of the USA "as we know it".
White Wizard777- If there is a race war it will be the ordinary everyday people who cause and fuel it. Most of them will have never heard of Stormfront. What could cause this? Well, if Barak Obama is elected president that could do it. Especially if someone shoots him. Can you imagine what would happen if a Black man was finally elected President or Vice President and is killed? The inner cities would explode like we have never imagined possible.

So in that case I guess yes, it could be the end of the U.S.A. as we know it.
Others on different forums are not so subtle in their comments though.

The names alone for some of those that comment are worrisome enough but the comments from some of them are clear and concise, such as one from commenter "Kill da nigga" who says "I'm hoping someone will do his public duty of putting a bullet through Obama's head soon."

The only saving grace in that forum was that others were calling them out on the nature of their racism and hate.

White Supremacists, Neo-Nazi's and the KKK, all of whom make no bones about what they would like to see happen to Barack Obama, leaves this blogger with two very relevant questions.

First: Why are the terrorists within the US allowed to operate freely, to threaten and terrorize at will, when America spends billions on fighting terrorism abroad?

Second: How could the Secret Service protecting Barack Obama justify not screening each and every person attending a speech or rally that Obama appears at, given the ongoing threats issued against him?

The threats from these extremist groups within the US increase as the 2008 election nears and yet the security does not increase accordingly.

(Disclaimer- I am not an Obama fan, I think He and Hillary would be the very worst thing for this country if elected, but threats as those shown above should not be tolerated.)

Code Pink Emboldened--Patriots Saddle Up

This is a combination post from Spree/HCDL at Wake Up America and Snooper at A Newt One (I swiped both their posts and combined them--and yes, I told them!)

First, the video of Debbie Lee from Snooper's "Another Example of Why We Love Debbie Lee":

Hat tip to Michelle Malkin for this call to action. The communist/jihadist embracing leftinistra's have called out for help and they're getting it. Code Pink has been joined by World Can't Wait in Berzerkely, and as MM shows on her site, they're being joined by other groups as well across the country.

Code Pink's announcement:

Join us for Counter-Recruitment this Friday, February 22nd at our new location at the U.S. Navy Recruitment Center!

Join CODEPINK outside of the Navy Recruitment Center in Santa Monica! Wear your pink for peace as we gather to spread the anti-war message and to educate the public about the risks associated with military recruitment and why it’s smart to OPT OUT. To attend, meet us outside our new location at the U.S. Navy Recruitment Center located at 2708 Wilshire Blvd. in Santa Monica (90403) at 12 noon this Friday the 22nd. Let’s show our support for Berkeley and let everyone know that Santa Monica is still in the running with Counter-Recruitment!

Let us know you’re coming by contacting Sarah at 310.827.4320 or

An announcement that is obviously calling themselves "Funk the War:"

After many previous protests had found the 14th st recruiter “closed” at 5PM, Funk the War found them open, and the door unlocked at nearer to 6Pm and promptly exploited the situation by demonstrating to them first hand how an occupying force behaves.

After a loud commotion inside while outnumbered cops watched, recruiters finally managed to get protesters to leave-but not before literature and full-body length cardboard displays in the street window area were destroyed. In addition, hundreds more “Funk the War” stickers were plastered all over just about everything that would take them. By the time everyone was out it looked like a tornado had swept through the lobby.

One recruiter tried to grab an activist but found himself overpowered by SDS’s superior strength and numbers and had no choice but to give up!

This came on the heels of the whole group marching in K st and Connecticut Ave at the height of rush hour, closing War Profiteer’s Row to cars fro quite a while. The group closed out by going after DC GOP headquarters, but that door was locked and there were too many cops around to break it down.

Pass the word along, contact people you know who live in these areas and let's put patriotic American men and women out there in numbers to counter these people and send them home. If you live in other areas where you see this sort of thing happening, LET US KNOW and we'll make sure the word gets out.

The Danish Cartoons

Just because I'm feeling contrary and am tired of all the recumbent "religion of peace" bullshit, I'm posting all 12 of the Danish cartoons that have muslim's turbans in a twist. That, and I'm all for supporting our Danish journalists, those who still have integrity and aren't groveling to appease the barbarians, unlike our own so-called journalists. Call them hate speech if you like, I really don't care. Nor will I remove them if some muslim gets his turban in a twist. Don't like it? Too bad. Free press, baby, and free speech. Go Denmark!

I found the cartoons here at the Assyrian International News Agency and they referenced them as The cartoons depicting Muhammad, first published by the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten last September. They were also referenced by Spree at Wake Up America!
in her piece entitled Danish Police Foil Murder Plot Against Danish Cartoonist of Muhammed Cartoons. Go check out her piece--it's a good one.

Frankly, I don't see a thing offensive with these cartoons--certainly nothing that warrants a death sentence on anyone, nor riots in streets. But then, as a Catholic, I find other things offensive; things like this:

And this:

But then, anyone with an ounce of sense knows Catholics aren't going to riot in the streets and issue death threats against those who offend them. So it's much easier to offend Catholics and Christians--just ask the ACLU and CAIR. They are the two leading components in screaming "offense" if it's ANYONE OTHER than a Christian.

Disgusting. I'm glad the Danes made the arrests and have stood by their journalist as well as stood their ground as the freedom loving country they are.

Move America Forward Going to Berkley

Also swiped from Spree at Wake Up America!
Following up on the last two days postings about Berkeley, found here and here, Move America Forward is planning their own rally on February 12, 2008, which is the next scheduled meeting for the Berkeley city council.

Long story short for those that don't want to click, the Berkeley city council, very unwisely, passed a resolution 6 to 3, that called the Marines unwelcome and unwanted intruders, last Tuesday and protesters constantly harass the Marines at those recruiting centers.

Senator DeMint is proposing legislation to strip federal funding and all earmarks from Berkeley, totaling over 2 million dollars and the council has received thousands of negative emails and phones calls for their actions, to the point where they have removed all their contact information from their website.

No worries, many, including myself, have provided you all the names, emails and phone numbers so you can make your feelings known.

The American Legion, Vets for Freedom and Move America Forward have all weighed in, as has Gathering of Eagles, all in support of Senator Jim DeMint's proposed legislation to strip Berkeley's funding.

Zombietime went and took some pictures of these protesting morons at the Marine recruitment center.

Now we are caught up.

Move America Forward's CALL TO ACTION, from an email written by Mary Pearson, Deputy Executive Director of Move America Forward:

The Berkeley, Calif., City Council on Tuesday adopted resolutions to chase the Marine Corps out of Berkeley!

Here is an ACTION checklist to help you show your support for our Troops!

Go to our website and SIGN THE PETITION to send a message back to the Berkeley City Council! For a direct link click HERE.

Contact the Berkeley mayor and city council by clicking HERE. Voice your disapproval of their actions against our Troops!

Call or E-mail your Senators and Congressman or Congresswoman. Click HERE, input your zip code and e-mail your legislators, telling them to:
“Please support Senator Jim DeMint’s legislation to censure Berkeley by withdrawing pork barrel spending from their city due to their grievous error in judgment by condemning the U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting Station there and giving favor to the radical anti-American group Code Pink.”
Contact your local media; TV, radio talk shows, newspapers, blogs, and clubs, churches and synagogues, businesses and work places and urge them to support our Troops by signing our petition.

Join Move America Forward as we take the fight to the City Council at their next scheduled meeting:

FEBRUARY 12th AT 7:00 PM.
2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way
Berkeley, Calif.

Forward this to your e-mail lists and urge your family, friends and neighbors to sign in support of our Troops.

This will be the scene on Feb 12th when hundreds of Patriots converge on Berkeley!

The city of Berkeley voted to send a letter to the Marine Corps calling their presence in Berkeley “uninvited,” referring to them as “unwelcome intruders” and calling recruiters liars. Also passed was a directive to the City Attorney to try to FORCE the Marines out of Berkeley by manipulating technicalities in local city codes. The city also voted to “applaud” Code Pink and asked residents to “avoid cooperation with the Marine Corps.”

This is the same group (Code Pink) that held protests, vandalizing the building and putting up signs calling recruiters ‘liars and TRAITORS’ last year at the same recruiting station in Berkeley.

For more information on this treasonous action by the City Council, and by Code Pink, read here:

Now is the time for everyone to stand UNITED in support of our brave men and women who are fighting terrorism every day overseas. They are facing unknown dangers so we can wake every morning in the security of our own homes with our loved ones and live in freedom.

Our Troops deserve the highest respect and honor, but now they have come under attack by the very people they are protecting! The treasonous, despicable actions of the Berkeley mayor and City Council members will not be tolerated in this great Nation of ours.

Join Move America Forward in support of our sons and daughters fighting for us so far from home. Let them know that while they are fighting for us on foreign soil, we are with them here, on the home front, supporting them and WILL BE UNTIL THEY FINISH THEIR MISSION!

Thank you for standing with us at this time in support of our Marines and all our great men and women serving our country today!

Deputy Executive Director

A Soldier Speaks...

Ray Reynolds, SFC Iowa Army National Guard 234th Signal Battalion
As I head off to Baghdad for the final weeks of my stay in Iraq, I wanted to say thanks to all of you who did not believe the media. They have done a very poor job of covering everything that has happened. I am sorry that I have not been able to visit all of you during my two week leave back home. And just so you can rest at night knowing something is happening in Iraq that is noteworthy, I thought I would pass this on to you. This is the list of things that has happened in Iraq recently: (Please share it with your friends and compare it to the version that your paper is producing.)

* Over 400,000 kids have up-to-date immunizations.
* School attendance is up 80% from levels before the war.
* Over 1,500 schools have been renovated and rid of the weapons stored there so education can occur.
* The port of Uhm Qasar was renovated so grain can be off-loaded from ships faster.
* The country had its first 2 billion barrel export of oil in August.
* Over 4.5 million people have clean drinking water for the first time ever in Iraq.
* The country now receives 2 times the electrical power it did before the war.
* 100% of the hospitals are open and fully staffed, compared to 35% before the war.
* Elections are taking place in every major city, and city councils are in place.
* Sewer and water lines are installed in every major city.
* Over 60,000 police are patrolling the streets.
* Over 100,000 Iraqi civil defense police are securing the country.
* Over 80,000 Iraqi soldiers are patrolling the streets side by side with US soldiers.
* Over 400,000 people have telephones for the first time ever.
* Students are taught field sanitation and hand washing techniques to prevent the spread of germs.
* An interim constitution has been signed.
* Girls are allowed to attend school.
* Textbooks that don't mention Saddam are in the schools for the first time in 30 years.

Don't believe for one second that these people do not want us there. I have met many, many people from Iraq that want us there, and in a bad way. They say they will never see the freedoms we talk about but they hope their children will. We are doing a good job in Iraq and I challenge anyone, anywhere to dispute me on these facts. If you are like me and very disgusted with how this period of rebuilding has been portrayed, email this to a friend and let them know there are good things happening.
(Emphasis mine)

Dispute his facts, do not look backwards, do not harp on the past, try dealing with the reality of the present and either dispute his facts or sit down, shut up and get out of their way.

By the way, the Iraqi's ratified the De-Baathification law today.

Rough road still ahead but we are winning. Our troops and General Petraeus have a strategy that is working and I second SFC Ray Reynolds challenge...dispute the facts or STFD.

Thanks for the article, Spree--we ALL need news like this to show just how great our troops and the spirit of the Iraqi people are.

Radical Manifesto says Pre-emptive Nuclear Strike a "Key Option"

Cross posted from Wake up America

In a radical manifesto for NATO it is stated that a "pre-emptive nuclear attack to try to halt the 'imminent' spread of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction" is something the West must be ready to resort to, according to The Guardian.

Five former Armed Forces chiefs from the US, Britain, Germany, France and the Netherlands put this manifesto together calling for a reform of Nato and a new pact drawing the US, Nato and the European Union together in a "grand strategy" to tackle the challenges of an increasingly brutal world.

The five chiefs are listed as:
John Shalikashvili:

The US' top soldier under Bill Clinton and former Nato Commander in Europe, Shalikashvili was born in Warsaw of Georgian parents and emigrated to the US at the height of Stalinism in 1952. He became the first immigrant to the US to rise to become a four-star general. He commanded Operation Provide Comfort in Northern Iraq at the end of the first Gulf war, then became Saceur, Nato's Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, before Clinton appointed him Chairman of the Joint Chiefs in 1993, a position he held until his retirement in 1997.

Klaus Naumann:

Viewed as one of Germany's and Nato's top military strategists in the 90's, Naumann served as his country's Armed Forces Commander from 1991 to 1996 when he became Chairman of Nato's Military Committee. On his watch, Germany overcame its post-WWII taboo about combat operations, with the Luftwaffe taking to the skies for the first time since 1945 in the Nato air campaign against Serbia.

Lord Inge:

Field Marshal Peter Inge is one of Britain's top officers, serving as Chief of the General Staff in 1992-94, then Chief of the Defence Staff in 1994-97. He also served on the Butler Inquiry into Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction and British Intelligence.

Henk van den Breemen:

An accomplished organist who has played at Westminster Abbey, Van den Breemen is the former Dutch Chief of Staff.

Jacques Lanxade:

A French Admiral and former Navy Chief, he was also Chief of the French Defence Staff.
This has been presented to the Pentagon in Washington and to Nato's Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, over the past 10 days.

This is also likely to be discussed at a Nato Summit in Bucharest in April.

The 150 page manifesto has statements such as "The risk of further [nuclear] proliferation is imminent and, with it, the danger that nuclear war fighting, albeit limited in scope, might become possible. The first use of nuclear weapons must remain in the quiver of escalation as the ultimate instrument to prevent the use of weapons of mass destruction."

They name the key threats to the West's values and way of life that the West is struggling to summon the will to protect as:

· Political fanaticism and religious fundamentalism.

· The "dark side" of globalisation, meaning international terrorism, organised crime and the spread of weapons of mass destruction.

· Climate change and energy security, entailing a contest for resources and potential "environmental" migration on a mass scale.

· The weakening of the nation state as well as of organisations such as the UN, Nato and the EU.
To prevail, the generals call for an overhaul of Nato decision-taking methods, a new "directorate" of US, European and Nato leaders to respond rapidly to crises, and an end to EU "obstruction" of and rivalry with Nato. Among the most radical changes demanded are:

· A shift from consensus decision-taking in Nato bodies to majority voting, meaning faster action through an end to national vetoes.

· The abolition of national caveats in Nato operations of the kind that plague the Afghan campaign.

· No role in decision-taking on Nato operations for alliance members who are not taking part in the operations.

· The use of force without UN security council authorisation when "immediate action is needed to protect large numbers of human beings".
The former Dutch Chief of Staff Van den Breemen say "Nato's credibility is at stake in Afghanistan"

The former German commander, Klaus Naumann, offers his attack on his own country's performance in Afghanistan by stating "The time has come for Germany to decide if it wants to be a reliable partner." By insisting on "special rules" for its forces in Afghanistan, the Merkel government in Berlin was contributing to "the dissolution of Nato".

He goes on to say "there is a big stick that we might have to use if there is no other option".

Ron Asmus, head of the German Marshall Fund thinktank in Brussels and a former senior US State Department official, described the manifesto as "a wake-up call". He then goes further in saying "This report means that the core of the Nato establishment is saying we're in trouble, that the West is adrift and not facing up to the challenges."

If this were politicians saying these things or issuing such a report, I would call it a bit of bluster and empty threats because that is what politicians do--issue rhetoric; the very fact these were top military commanders and chiefs turns this into a whole different ballgame and should be taken seriously.

Having the pre-emptive nuclear strike option available is nothing new here, it has been unstated policy since the cold war, but writing a 150 page manifesto, authored by such a distinguished group and allowing it to be leaked out, shows it is not just an option held in reserve, but it is being actively discussed.

The fact the US former commander was someone who served not under a "right wing neocon" but under Bill Clinton, is sure to raise some eyebrows around the blogosphere.

I guess "Political fanaticism and religious fundamentalism" isn't just a concern from the right as the left would like people to believe.

Hat tip to Outside The Beltway, World Security Network has the PDF of the report.

Possibly more to come as I go through the report.

It is called "Towards a Grand Strategy for an Uncertain World".

Liberals Agree With Conservatives About The Clintons?

Cross posted from Spree at Wake Up America!

(Cartoon by Glenn McCoy at Townhall)

When Bill and Hillary Clinton were bare-knuckle fighting the Conservatives in this country, the liberals all bought in to their "vast right wing conspiracy" theory; now that their tactics, lies and underhanded tricks are being used against the other members of the left, lo and behold, the liberals are starting to notice some thing they don't like about the Clinton Duo.

Poetic justice and greatly amusing at that.

Let me start with Hillary's latest gambit which is causing a little firestorm on the left side of the blogosphere and then I will get into the harshest outright criticisms of Hillary and Bill, about their "character"--again using the words from liberals.

I did a few pieces on the DNC refusing to sit the party delegates in states which broke the rules and moved their primaries forward; I even asked if they were slitting their own throats by making Michigan and Floria feel irrelevant, but they did and they agreed not to campaign there; in Michigan most candidates took their names off the ballot because of those agreements.

Hillary didn't.

Now Hillary wants to change the rules midstream, and you don't have to take my word for how the left is seeing through this gambit--we will show you how liberals are seeing it themselves.

Ezra Klein, a liberal, thinks this little game of Hillary's has the potential to tear the party itself apart:
This is the sort of decision that has the potential to tear the party apart. In an attempt to retain some control over the process and keep the various states from accelerating their primaries into last Summer, the Democratic National Committee warned Michigan and Florida that if they insisted on advancing their primary debates, their delegates wouldn't be seated and the campaigns would be asked not to participate in their primaries. This was agreed to by all parties (save, of course, the states themselves).

But if this pushes her over the edge, the Obama camp, and their supporters, really will feel that she stole her victory. They didn't contest those states because they weren't going to count, not because they were so committed to the DNC's procedural arguments that they were willing to sacrifice dozens of delegates to support it. It's as hard as hardball gets, and the end could be unimaginably acrimonious. Imagine if African-American voters feel the rules were changed to prevent Obama's victory, if young voters feel the delegate counts were shifted to block their candidate.
This next one shocked even me, because some liberals (as I will show below) might not like the Clintons, Hillary especially, but would be willing to hold their noses and vote for her anyway to keep a Republican out of the White House...not so with shamanic from NewsHoggers. Iff you have ever read NewsHoggers you already know they are so far to the left that they cannot even SEE the center anymore.
This is tough stuff for me to stomach, wanting a politics of aspiration and hope and progress. Call me crazy, but I have this thing that I do where when I agree to something, I do my best to fulfill my obligation to the agreement. I'd like to think it's possible to elect leaders who also do their best to fulfill their obligations.

But I look at Hillary Clinton's campaign and I see people lacking in goodwill, overcome by raw ambition, and devoid of principle. This is exactly what drove my parents and tens of millions of other Republicans crazy during the 90s, and I'm not looking forward to a repeat.

I'm crossing my fingers for John McCain if Clinton wins the nomination. I disagree with him on everything, but I'll take him over four more years of this kind of shady, leave no opponent standing politics.
Take a second to let that sink in. This radical left liberal would not just sit home on election night if Hillary was the nominee, but would actually go vote for McCain!!!!!

Pretty much makes Ezra's point above, wouldn't you say?

Lawyers, Guns and Money, perhaps not as radical as NewsHoggers, but still a liberal blog from the few times I have read it, starts off with "this is pretty appalling":
It's dirty business on the part of the Clinton campaign, no question. And cloaking the nasty little power grab with the language of democratic inclusion irritates me even more. I can't say that I'm completely surprised, but I would have preferred if Hillary had demonstrated more appreciation for party unity than this; it amounts to an effort to steal delegates.
As a side that link and take a look at the comment section. They are even harsher, calling her out on exactly what she is.

You can find more liberals taking Hillary to task for this at Carpetbagger, Talking Points Memo and Rolling Stone.

That is simply but a small sample of the reactions against Hillary on the far left liberal side of the blogosphere and media.

Now for the meat and potatoes of this post, a very surprising article caught my eye from the Los Angeles Times Opinion page, from a liberal writer who seems to have just discovered what and who the Clintons are and finding their character, ethics and morals seriously lacking. (Notice this is written without mention of her latest little sleight of hand about the Michigan and Florida delegates)

The title itself gave me a huge chuckle when it asks "Is the right right on the Clintons?"

The sub header is just as amusing: "Hillary's campaign tactics are causing some liberals to turn against the couple."
Something strange happened the other day. All these different people -- friends, co-workers, relatives, people on a liberal e-mail list I read -- kept saying the same thing: They've suddenly developed a disdain for Bill and Hillary Clinton. Maybe this is just a coincidence, but I think we've reached an irrevocable turning point in liberal opinion of the Clintons.

The sentiment seems to be concentrated among Barack Obama supporters. Going into the campaign, most of us liked Hillary Clinton just fine, but the fact that tens of millions of Americans are seized with irrational loathing for her suggested that she might not be a good Democratic nominee. But now that loathing seems a lot less irrational. We're not frothing Clinton haters like ... well, name pretty much any conservative. We just really wish they'd go away.
It goes on to say the turning point for them was when the Clintons misrepresented what Barack Obama said about Ronald Reagan, they mention Hillary's email tactics against Obama before the New Hampshire primaries and goes straight into the robocalls happening now in South Carolina against Obama...lastly they find "the Clintons' habit of surrounding themselves with the most egregious characters: Dick Morris, Marc Rich and so on." (That was in relation to the Black Entertainment Television founder Robert L. Johnson invoking Obama's youthful drug use.)
The Clinton campaign is trying to make it seem as if the complaint is about negativity, and it is pointing out that Obama has criticized Hillary as well. That's what politicians are supposed to do when they compete for votes. But criticism isn't the same thing as lying and sleaze-mongering.

Am I starting to sound like a Clinton hater? It's a scary thought. Of course, to conservatives, it's a delicious thought.....
I am stopping there because I have no problem admitting that yes, it IS a delicious thought as well as poetic justice; the irony also comes into play.
But the conservatives might have had a point about the Clintons' character. Bill's affair with Monica Lewinsky jeopardized the whole progressive project for momentary pleasure. The Clintons gleefully triangulated the Democrats in Congress to boost his approval rating. They do seem to have a feeling of entitlement to power.
With all that said, they acknowledge that if Hillary ends up the Democratic nominee, with all those negatives they just listed themselves, they would probably hold their collective noses and vote for her again.

Talk about a lack of character...

Pot. Meet. Kettle.

From the right side of the blogosphere is some justified snark at the very fact it has taken members of the left 16 YEARS to FINALLY start seeing Bill and Hillary Clinton for what they are.

Captain Ed titles his piece "Rules? The Clintons Don't Need No Stinkin' Rules!" and PoliGazette asks if "Anyone really up for four years of this deceit?" That piece is appropriately named "Cheater".

Macsmind put the figures out there, a reminder of what happened under Bill Clinton when he held the office of presidency:
- GOP seats gained in House during Clinton: 48
- GOP seats gained in Senate under Clinton: 8
- GOP governorships under Clinton: 11
- GOP state legislative seats gained under Clinton: 1,254
- State legislatures taken over by GOP under Clinton: 9
- Democrat officeholders became Republicans under Clinton: 439
You can keep up with the firestorm of comments, blog posts and discussion about Hillary, Bill and this latest salvo in dirty politics, and left against left, over at memeorandum.

A quick note to the far liberal left here: You knew what they were and you didn't care as long as those tactics were only used against the right, so quit whining, quit bitching...... You are getting exactly what you deserve.

Serious Allegations Against The Clinton Campaign in Nevada

Cross posted from Wake up America

Statement from Obama campaign manager David Plouffe:

We currently have reports of over 200 separate incidents of trouble at caucus sites, including doors being closed up to thirty minutes early, registration forms running out so people were turned away, and ID being requested and checked in a non-uniform fashion. This is in addition to the Clinton campaign’s efforts to confuse voters and call into question the at-large caucus sites which clearly had an affect on turnout at these locations. These kinds of Clinton campaign tactics were part of an entire week’s worth of false, divisive, attacks designed to mislead caucus-goers and discredit the caucus itself.

We will investigate all of these thoroughly and would encourage anyone who had concern about actions at the caucus sites to call (866) 675-2008.
Normally, when one campaign makes statements like this, they must be taken with a grain of salt; when they are followed up with firsthand eyewitness accounts backing those statements up, whether the incidents would have changed the final results or not becomes secondary to the question of accountability for using underhanded--and possibly illegal--tactics to begin with.

Let's start with the first allegation of caucus doors being closed thirty minutes early and people being turned away.

From a Daily Kos diary, thereisnospoon:
Here's my story:

I got to the location at 10:30am and set up. The Hillary people were already there. In charge of them was a 60-ish woman with a slight Brooklyn accent. Here were the irregularities in my precinct alone:

* The Hillary operative tried to force the doors to close at 11:30am. KK was outside greeting people, and she overheard the Hillary campaign mention that the doors would be closing at 11:30am, and she went to talk to the precinct chair. So we intervened and said that that was absolutely not legal by the rules. She then started screaming at the chair to close the doors. When he read the rules that they were open until 12noon, she said that "that's not what I was told, other campaigns were spreading misinformation." We stood our ground, and the doors remained open.

* A man in a wheelchair came in with his daughter, and said he was an Edwards supporter. When his daughter began to wheel him to the middle of the room, the Hillary operative tapped her on the shoulder, took the wheelchair and took him to the Clinton corner. I rushed over from talking to an undecided voter and objected loudly, but his daughter was a Hillary person. The Clinton operative said, "I don't control what he does; she does." At that point I said to the man, "Nobody controls you. If you want to vote for Edwards, you have every right to go to the center of the room. Do you need help?" He looked at me plaintively, but said nothing as his daughter dragged him farther back into the corner and just shook his head.

* The Clinton operative herself had a Brooklyn accent and I overheard her mention having been from New York. When she stood to be counted in the middle of the room, I objected and asked her if she was actually from Nevada. She said yes. I talked to the chair and asked him to ask her name and find her on the list. He asked her her name and checked the list, and she was not on it. At this point the chair said, "well, I can't ask for ID." I said, "She can't participate if no one will vouch for her." At this point a Hispanic man wearing a Hillary shirt said she was his wife. While that's not impossible, it was also improbable--but I had no way to verify or object further.

* One voter who hadn't even finished registering said that she was undecided, and the Hillary operative physically escorted her to the Hillary side. I went to talk to the woman, but she was immediately surrounded by 3 Hillary supporters who would not let me in, and I had to attend to others registering at that point (our operatives were outnumbered by hers 2-1).

* Hillary supporters were doing check-in, and a Hillary sign was behind them. I forced the sign off the table, and I went to the front desk to verify that everything went according to the rules at checkin--but if nothing else, the necessity of doing so prevented me from doing other needed work.
Read the whole thing; they also relay stories of what others are telling them and are saying they have video to support some of these claims.

This diarist also ends with something that should be very disturbing for Democrats in general:
After being a part of this campaign, doing this work, and seeing this level of viciousness from a supposedly Democratic candidate, it will be a cold day in hell before I do any work for anyone in any way associated with Hillary Clinton. At this point, even my general election vote is in question. I am furious almost to the point of nausea. There are so many young, idealistic activists here who are absolutely crushed--not because we lost here, but because of the way we "lost." Disillusionment is running extremely high--and I doubt very much of many of them will be back in 2008, or ever again. Illegal and immoral campaign tactics like this aren't just reprehensible: they also come at a cost to the party in the long run.
Another firsthand account comes from LV Pol Girl:
As many of you know I am an Obama supporter and a first time caucus goer. Here is my experience...

We showed up at 10 AM and the Hillary camp was all set with signs and volunteers. It didn't take long for the Obama volunteers to neutralize Hillary's head start. For starters, we noticed that Hillary's supporters were breaking the rules by placing Hillary signs where they were not allowed and we asked them to take them down, which they did. We then noticed, that a car sporting Hillary signage, was double-parked, blocking people who needed access to handicapped parking. We told a woman who just had a hip replacement to park her car right beside the car.

The next controversial issue involved the voter cards disappearing into the Hillary camp, so that the Edwards and Obama people were left with no cards. When we asked them to give us back some cards, we then noticed that they had all been pre-marked for Hillary.

Another controversy arose, when a Hillary supporter became hostile with the Precinct Chair because she felt that things were not moving as fast as she would have liked -- the time was only 11:00 a.m. This, along with the voter card stunt, ended up hurting the Hillary camp because the precinct chair, a known Hillary supporter, was turned off by these tactics and decided to join the Obama camp.
Once again, there is much more to that diary--those are just the highlights.

The next account is from RunnerAAA, who lists multiple problems at the caucus as well as from some Hillary supporters, from trying to close the doors early [again] to people trying to vote in more than one precinct, people being sent to the wrong precinct deliberately as well as precinct captains being interrupted--in violation of caucus rules--when they had their five minutes to speak to the group about their candidate.

That diary ends like this:
We'll see how the results come out, but for now I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth about the Clinton campaign. I won't forget these dirty tactics today will never be forgotten. I hope that everyone realizes how much this reflects on Hillary's character. Anything to win, even if it means cheating. I am as strong a supporter for Obama as ever. We can't let the machine win.
It should be noted that complaints are coming in about both the Obama campaign AND the Clinton campaign as reported at The Hill.

Rick Moran puts together a list of some of the newsworthy dirty tactics the Clinton campaign has recently utilized since before--and during--the Nevada caucus, over at the PoliGazette.

There is quite a bit of buzz about this on the left side of the blogosphere and Ed Morrisey wonders why we even have caucuses instead of primaries being the standard.

He has a point. Precinct chairs who favor one candidate over another leads to decisions being made, not in fairness to the process but with bias for the campaign that the chair supports... there is nothing fair in that process and leaves us wondering if any legal action can be taken against such tactics as those having been reported.

Secondly, many were so disturbed about the process and what they saw from their own "side" they have been turned off of the whole political process altogether.

Third, because of the chaos at some of the precincts, first time caucus goers may never participate in the process again.

I would bet good money on the fact that nasty tactics, dirty tricks, voter suppression and fraud have just begun in this race, but the fun part about it is the Democrats are using these tactics against each other.

It is like finally ripping the roof off of hell and letting the world see what the Democrats really are all about.
