The Old Paths

This poem was contributed to Patriots for Conservative Values by a member's wife. It illustrates beautifully what conservatives are looking for.

* THE OLD PATHS*

I liked the old paths, when
moms were at home.
dads were at work.
Brothers went into the army.
And sisters got married BEFORE having children!

Crime did not pay;
Hard work did;
And people knew the difference.

Moms could cook;
dads would work;
children would behave.

Husbands were loving;
wives were supportive;
And children were polite.

Women wore the jewelry;
and men wore the pants.
Women looked like ladies;
men looked like gentlemen;
and children looked decent.

People loved the truth,
and hated a lie;
they came to church to get IN,
not to get OUT!

Hymns sounded godly;
sermons sounded helpful;
rejoicing sounded normal;
and crying sounded sincere.

Cursing was wicked;
drugs were for illness;
and divorce was unthinkable.

The flag was honored;
America was beautiful;
and God was welcome!

We read the Bible in public;
prayed in school;
and preached from house to house.

To be called an American was worth dying for;
to be called a Christian was worth living for;
to be called a traitor was a shame!

Preachers preached because they had a message;
and Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!
Preachers preached from the Bible;
singers sang from the heart;
and sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!

A new birth meant a new life;
salvation meant a changed life;
following Christ led to eternal life.

Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the Word of God;
being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord;
being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus;
and being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!

Laws were based on the Bible;
homes read the Bible;
and churches taught the Bible.

God was worshiped;
Christ was exalted;
and the Holy Spirit was respected.

Church was where you found Christians
on the Lord's day, rather than in the garden,
on the creek bank, on the golf course,
or being entertained somewhere else.

I still like the old paths the best!

Tom Cole, GOP Strategist, Is Smiling

Good for him, but in all honesty, this far before the actual elections, I do not think strategists from either side of the aisle should be smiling.

If there is one thing politicians (Democratic and Republican) are GREAT at, it is sticking their feet in their mouth, pandering to the extremists of the party, the ones that scream and screech the loudest, and ignoring the moderates that make up the bulk of voters for either party.

From Broder:

It all adds up, Cole said, to a political environment reminiscent of 1992 -- a tough year for entrenched incumbents of both parties who suddenly saw their margins shrink or disappear. "The American people are rising up in disgust," Cole said, "and incumbents will pay. It's not anti-Republican anymore. It's anti-Washington."

Cole argues that the House Democratic leadership has made a strategic error by wielding its narrow majority to craft partisan bills that invite a Bush veto. That was the case with several resolutions to shorten the Iraq war, and it will be the case later this fall with a series of appropriations bills. Polarization is exactly what the voters hate, Cole said; they are looking for cooperation and agreement.

The screeching over this piece has already begun and yet with over a year to go before polls and opinion pieces even start to matter, we are left wondering, who will make the next fatal error.

He does make a point I have made here before though about Hillary Clinton.

She might just be the shoe in for the Democratic primary and that is the best news the GOP can have.


With her massive connections to crooks, (Hsu to name just one) corruption (NJ Mayor to name just one of her corrupt supporters), court cases where she will have to testify, her ability to pander to anyone and any time without regard to principle, her flip flopping and that fact that she already holds a 48% disapproval rating and most everyone already knows her name and has an "opinion" one way or another-- her supposed shoe in candidacy will probably be the most fatal error on the Democratic side before the 2008 elections.

Her disapproval ratings are higher than those of Sen. John Kerry in the days leading up to the 2004 election (45 percent) and Al Gore (42 percent) just prior to the 2000 presidential election.

"No one with her level of negativity has won the nomination, let alone let alone the White House," University of Texas political science professor Bruce Buchanan said.

Rove said on CBS's Face the Nation on Sunday that Clinton will have a difficult time changing her public image, because so many people have already formed an opinion about her.

If the Republicans do not make an error of that size before then, Democrats will hand the election right to the GOP simply by making her the candidate of choice.

With that said, do not forget to stop by facebook and join "Stop Hillary Clinton (One Million Strong against Hillary)" which as of right now has 452, 671 members from both sides of the aisle and independents. (When I joined on September 25, 2007, there was only 421,000+, so you can see how that movement is growing fast).

Note to Tom Cole: Quit smiling, it is too early, but at least we, the GOP supporters, are not calling for the ouster of our party leaders, like the Democratic blogs are..

If they keep eating their own like this, then the GOP sure will be smiling by November 2008 with you Mr. Cole.

Example of what I mean by "eating their own":

Back in August Matt Stoller first floated the idea of a "Bush Dog" campaign against Democratic members of Congress who enable the right-wing through their support of Bush's policies on core progressive values at key moments.

Now the campaign is in full flight. If you type "Bush Dog Democrat" you now get thousands of results. Profiles of all 38 House Bush Dogs have been completed. Among critics are the DLC, DSCC and insider news source National Journal.

However it has been primarily focused on House Bush Dogs. However with a little research I found that Senate Bush Dogs are a much bigger problem.

They are right, a search for Bush Dog Democrats shows they are, indeed, eating their own and saving the GOP the trouble of having to do it for them....LOLOLOL

Ok, so I might be wrong, Tom Cole might just have a reason for a smirk at this time, but please, don't get cocky because we have a lot of work ahead of us.

Stop the ACLU! Updates

Earlier this week I joined the above named blogroll. I did so because I DESPISE the ACLU for its continued attacks on this country and this country's values. The skewed vision of the ACLU is, in my eyes, equivalent to madmen running the lunatic asylum.

After the preliminary blogburst, I have received several more articles. I'll publish the links here and you can take a stroll over to the site to read them yourself. Frankly, I thought I was pretty well informed regarding this group's criminal activities. I am not. When you visit the site, make sure you're prepared to hunker down for a while, because there is a LOT of information.

He was fired from his job as a HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER for engaging in this activity outside of school hours. Unfortunately, his "painting technique" was all over the internet. The school didn't want to be associated with this man.

Unfortunately for him, many, MANY places of employment now have some say as to what you do in your off hours, specifically of how it reflects upon said place of employment. They don't want YOUR bad behavior reflecting on THEM.

I'm not sure if I'm for or against this recent trend in employment policies. I can understand it from both sides--the employers' desire not to be connected, however remotely, with their employees' bad behavior as well as the employees' rights to do as they please on their own time. However, I think for someone charged with teaching and forming the minds of the youth of this country, coupled with the reach of the internet, this guy could have used a lot more common sense, at the very least.

islam Appeasement at a Congressional Level

This came to my email from ACT! for America (ACT for America is an issues advocacy organization dedicated to effectively organizing and mobilizing the most powerful grassroots citizen action network in America, a grassroots network committed to informed and coordinated civic action that will lead to public policies that promote America’s national security and the defense of American democratic values against the assault of radical Islam.)
and shows just how far our congress will stoop to appease those who wish to kill and subjugate us.

376 of our representatives voted for this; 42 (41 Republicans; 1 Democrat) voted "present"; 14 did not vote and NONE voted No. The 42 voting present were "troubled", but apparently not troubled enough to vote No. Why?

Not surprisingly, one of the sponsors of this resolution was Keith Ellison, our first muslim congressman. His ranting can be found in this article: "US House Passes Historic Ramadan Resolution" at USINFO.STATE.GOV here.

In reviewing the roll call of H. Res 635 Recognizing the Commencement of Ramadan, the islamic Holy Month of Fasting...., I noticed all but one of my state's congressional representatives voted "aye"...including Gabrielle Giffords and Raul Grijalva. The lone holdout, voting present, was Republican Trent Franks. GovTrack.us has the entire breakdown by state of this vote here.

Honoring Islam and Ramadan

An Important Message from Brigitte Gabriel

For the first time ever, the U.S. House of Representatives, on a 376 – 0 vote, passed a resolution honoring the Islamic holiday Ramadan and commending Muslims for their faith.

Congressman Tom Tancredo, one of 42 voting “present,” in a press release after the vote cited the resolution as "an example of the degree to which political correctness has captured the political and media elite" in America. He further stated: “I am not opposed to commending any religion for their faith. The problem is that any attempt to do so for Jews or Christians is immediately condemned as ’breaching’ the non-existent line between Church and State by the same elite.”

Congressman Scott Garrett commented that in his five years in Congress he could not remember a resolution honoring Christmas or Easter. As of this morning, a search by the ACT for America staff had not uncovered any resolution in the past 20 years honoring a Jewish holiday.

Other Members of Congress expressed being “troubled” by the resolution. Yet it passed without a single “no” vote. Why? And why the special treatment of an Islamic holiday?

Because politically correct treatment of Islam is growing, and the pressures in Washington to knuckle under to this political correctness have become extremely intense. I heard this loud and clear from Members of Congress when I spoke on Capitol Hill on September 10th. We know there are Members up there who are deeply concerned, and deeply troubled, by the growing and glowing affirmation of Islam, given Islam’s past and current history of violence, brutality, terrorism and intolerance. These congressmen and women need to know that there are millions of Americans who share their concerns. These congressmen and women need to know that there are millions of Americans who understand that Islam, especially militant Islam, has not been a religion of peace, and is, in fact, the major threat to peace and liberty in the world today.

This is why building ACT for America’s citizen action network is so immensely important. That’s why we need the help of every concerned citizen. As we build our chapter network, as we add tens of thousands, then hundreds of thousands, then millions of concerned Americans to this grassroots network, elected officials everywhere will know that there is another voice in this great country, a voice of the people who will not be intimidated by, nor bow to, political correctness. Our allies in the Congress and the state legislatures will know it. So will those who put their finger in the wind to determine which way they vote!

Will you offer a congressional resolution calling for the closing of the mosques and Islamic organizations in America that teach children that Christians and Jews are apes and pigs…that teach children to hate for Allah’s sake...that teach children it is the religious duty of every Muslim to overthrow America’s constitutional government and replace it with Islamic government under sharia law...that teach children that in order to fulfill the sacred obligation of Jihad they must invade the Western heartland and struggle to overcome it until all the world shouts by the name of the prophet Mohammad?

Will you offer a congressional resolution calling for the closure of Islamic paramilitary camps that exist on American soil, compounds where militants are being trained in the tactics of armed Jihad?
