Welfare Ain't What It Used to Be!

This came in an email from my friend Norm. I'm copying it in it's entirety. It's a wonderful illustration of generational welfare and entitlement mentality, prejudice against whites and more of the "Katrina victimhood". Pay special attention to the emphasized sections--they are extremely telling. This story can be found here at Snopes as well. Part of it is indeed satire; however the photographs of her "slummy house" are real as is the person and her attitude/racism.

Sharon Jasper has been victimized. Sharon Jasper has been rabidly wronged.

She has become a Section 8 care case "the victim of ever changing public housing policies.
Sharon Jasper has spent 57 of her 58 years dedicated to one cause and one cause only, and has nothing to show for her dedicated servitude.

She has lived in Section 8 housing all but 1 of her 58 years.

It was a legacy passed down from her parents who moved into Section 8 housing in 1949 when she was six months old. She has passed the legacy down to her children, but fears they may have to get jobs to pay for the utilities and deposits.

She laments about her one year hiatus from the comfort of her Section 8 nirvana, ' I tried it for a year..you know, working and all. It's not anything I would want to go through again, or wish on anyone in my family, but I am damn proud of that year.'

Sharon was moved out of her St. Bernard housing project after hurricane Katrina and into a new, yet albeit, substandard quarterage. As can be noted from the above photo of her new Section 8 home, it is repugnant and not suitable for someone of Sharon Jasper's seniority status in the system. 'Don't be fooled by them hardwood floors,' says Sharon. 'They told me they were putting in scraped wood floors cause it was more expensive and elegant, but I am not a fool "that was just a way to make me take scratched up wood because I am black. The 60 inch HD TV? It may look nice but it is not a plasma. It's not a plasma because I'm black. Now they want me to pay a deposit and utilities on this dump.' 'Do you know why?'

She has held her tongue in silence through the years of abuse by the system, but it came to a head at the New Orlean's city council meeting where discussions were under way about the tearing down of the St. Bernard projects. When a near riotous exchange between groups opposing the tearing down of St. Bernard and groups wanting the dilapidated buildings torn down and newer ones built, Sharon unleashed verbal hell with her once silenced tongue. The object of her oratory prowess was an acquiescent poor white boy in attendance. The context of her scathing rebuke was, 'Just because you pay for my house, my car, my big screen and my food, I will not be treated like a slave!' and 'Back up and Shut up! Shut up, white boy! Shut up, white boy!'

Recapping from the mental log of the city council minutes in her head, Sharon repines, 'Our families have been displaced all over the United States. They are being forced to commit crimes in cities they are unfamiliar with. It is a very uncomfortable situation for them. Bring them back, then let's talk about redevelopment.'

Sharon directs the reporter's attention across the street to Duncan Plaza where homeless people are living in tents and states that, 'I might do better out there with one of these tents.' She further lamented her sentiments about her situation,' I might be poor, but I don't have to live poor.

Katrina, Obama, Race and ENOUGH!

Bill Cosby made waves during his address May 17, 2004, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka (rendered May 17, 1954 (entry page to both opinion and syllabus here). He asked an excellent question:
"What the hell good is Brown v. Board of Education if nobody wants it?"

Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans August 29, 2005.

Juan Williams published "Enough...The Phony Leaders, Dead End Movements, and Culture of Failure That Are Undermining Black America--and What We Can Do About It" in 2006.

All of the above are interconnected. They are also connected with our current presidential campaign, for the most part on the democrat side, less so on the Republican side.

The "latest" controversy are "racial comments" made by Hillary and Bill (Hillary talking about speeches made by JFK and MLK and speeches were fine but didn't achieve action) and Bill commenting about Obama's "fairytale" campaign. Boo-frickin-hoo, blacks had their feelings hurt and they're upset (the comments were "hurtful"). And, of course, Bill's "begging for absolution" from the shuck and jive master, Sharpton. Yeah, I went there.

Please. About as hurt as they always are over anything that smacks of the truth.

Of course, BET Founder Robert L. Johnson is now slamming Obama (like Johnson has a lot of room to talk with his own exploitation of his own race).

Let's get down to some real honesty here.

The BLACKS have NO ROOM to talk about racism or accuse ANYONE of "keeping them down". Right now, other than the illegals, they are the biggest racists, the biggest exploiters of the race card, in this country. They keep THEMSELVES down, aided and abetted by "their own", such as Robert L. Johnson, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, et. al, promoting and promulgating an entire culture of helplessness by advocating "authentic blackness" through crime, lack of education, music, drug abuse, single parenthood, child abandonment, etc.

They certainly have no room to bring MLK into their current arguments.

I may not have agreed with everything MLK did in his private life; however, he stood for something, he believed passionately in a better way, he advocated non-violence and he was assassinated for it. He stood and fought for what he believed in, he didn't back away from his convictions. He meant something.

It's easy for Jackson and Sharpton to fall back on the MLK meme. But, in reality, what have they done with the inroads MLK made? What have they TRULY done? Not a damn thing, except continue the nonsense and perpetuate the stereotypes MLK stood against. Jackson's famous excuse is always "It's how we survive".

Neither of them advocate personal responsibility or accountability. They advocate relying on "government programs" or "the man" to "take care" of the blacks (of course while continuing the drumbeat of "the man" is to blame for all the blacks woes).

Well, the blacks are to blame for their own woes at this point in time. They have had 53+ years of education opportunity, courtesy of Brown v. Board of Education. Yet today, any black child showing intelligence and a love of learning is made to feel as if they aren't "authentically black" and are "sellouts". It's considered "cool" to be educationally retarded. Without the foundation of an education, the children have nothing to build on. Nothing.

The statistics speak for themselves regarding crime, violence, drugs, murder, single mothers, etc. And it's all on them and their continued adulation of the pornographic filth coming out of their so-called leaders, Jackson, Sharpton and exploiters like Johnson. Yes, I said pornographic filth. If anyone is working to "keep them down" it's these two and the exploiters in entertainment.

It's the government programs and the nanny state telling them it's okay to father twelve children by twelve different girls and abandon them because the state will take care of them--that's what welfare is for. It's okay to drop out of school and not get an education, even though a 9 year old girl, surrounded by the military upon her entry into a white school, fought for the right to a good education for all blacks. It's okay to throw all the civil rights advancements aside--yet claim discrimination at the drop of a hat.

Which brings us to Katrina.

I am SICK TO DEATH of hearing about Katrina. ENOUGH already. Get off your lazy black, drug dealing, hip-hopping, bling wearing asses and do something for yourselves. Every other weather/natural disaster since Katrina has received far less publicity and far less money thrown at it. Yet, New Orleans and her blacks can't seem to do a damn thing themselves to get back on their feet. Towns have been destroyed by tornados, floods, snow storms and fires, all over the country.

We don't hear about the aftermath too much--because the townspeople roll up their sleeves and DO SOMETHING FOR THEMSELVES. They rebuild. They are responsible and have insurance (for the most part). The biggest reason we don't hear about those disasters is they happened to whites and the whites aren't sitting on the remains of their porch stoops, slugging down a 40, rolling a joint and screaming about where's my welfare check while bitching about conspiracy theories that GWB engineered Katrina to get rid of "them".

Yesterday, Vanderleun published a post here called "Cutting Through the Katrina Krapola". In it he reveals NOLA citizens are now suing the government for $3 quadrillion dollars. Yet, he also provides this information:
The city and its long line of corrupt citizens and politicians have already managed to hoover $127 billion out of the federal government and that, as they say, should be enough for any cluster of crooks. On a per person basis that comes to $425,000 for each of the 300,000 fools still living in that pulsating pustule on the bayou.
Wow. $425,000 for EACH of the 300,000 people still living there. From all the noise we hear constantly, you'd think they hadn't received enough for a loaf of bread. Vanderleun also has this to say regarding the $3 quadrillion number:
This chunk of legalized slunk trading may or may not include the Washington con job currently being floated in Swampy Bottom -- "Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D), is presently asking the Congress for $250 BILLION to rebuild New Orleans. Interesting number." But it hardly matters.
I'm done with feeling sorry for people who were too damn stupid to listen to a radio or watch a tv news report and get themselves out of danger when they had the chance. I'm also done with listening to how it's all "the man's" fault the blacks among us refuse to grasp opportunities they've had for over 50 years to educate and better themselves and their lives--the same opportunities every other American has. I'm done with listening to assholes like Jackson and Sharpton continue to incite race separation by their bullshit. I'm done with listening to people who want the government to support them from cradle to grave while they do their damndest to ruin neighborhoods and families. I'm tired of my taxes paying for those who consider themselves "authentically black" to turn cities, schools, neighborhoods into war zones. I'm done listening to the idiots who want to pull the race card/victimization card for everything.

Does this mean I'm against all blacks? HELL NO. Resoundingly HELL NO. Countless blacks have taken advantage of the strides made, they hold excellent jobs, they have intact marriages, they have taken the promise they were given and literally run with it. I honestly can't see ANY black who has taken the responsibility for their lives being any more happy with the race/victim card players and the leeches in their race than anyone else. I know families who are disgusted with their racial brothers and sisters and what they've done with their opportunities. Flat out disgusted.

It's those blacks who need to speak up though. In all aspects--politics, welfare, education, accountability, family, morals, values--all of it. It can no longer be the shysters and shuck and jive masters speaking for them, men who are the epitome of the problem rather than a part of the solution. Unfortunately, one man did. He was ostracized for it. That man was Bill Cosby.

Cosby was interviewed for the book "Enough". The book in an of itself is a revealing look at the so-called black leadership. While the entire book is an exceptional read, there were two paragraphs which stood out for me:
"...When it comes to creating the good life themselves, too many of the poor are acting against their own best interests--they are hurting themselves and the black community.

Why? Again, the heart of the answer is that the poor are not getting important information from civil rights leaders, from politicians and from their culture (their music, their movies, their fashion). There is no trusted source with a pulpit or a microphone telling people in need about the path to a better life. There is no one calling this situation a crisis. that is why it was so exceptional for Cosby to raise his voice and say to poor black people 'we didn't come from giving up...we came from surviving!'

The nation's leading civil rights groups are missing in action in this effort to get out the good news. They claim to be too busy to get the message out. They are locked into arguing that 'the system' is causing the continued high level of poverty in black America. Their goal seems to be to get government money for programs, grants and scholarships for the black community. That money has done some good. But at this point a blind pursuit of government money to help the poor is a tired, failed strategy, It encourages patterns of dependency among black people. It leads to cynicism about what has become the civil rights movement. In its finest hour the movement appealed to the conscience of the nation, to its ideals, by seeking justice. Now the movement has descended to using racial guilt trips, basically to extort government money for bigger budgets for programs that show no sign of working. The disdain for this shadow of a formerly great movement is so deep that many Americans, including Cosby, identify these black leaders with their hands out on behalf of the poor as 'poverty pimps'".
So, Obama? Bill and Hill? Sharpton, Jackson and NOLA Katrina leeches?

STFU and STFD.

Get off the race/victim cards, begging for absolution from the "poverty pimps" themselves and do something for yourselves. You've extorted enough from the American public. And we're tired of hearing you use the civil rights meme as your excuse. Get off your asses and do something for yourselves for a change.

As Cosby so eloquently put it, "What the hell good is Brown v. Board of Education if nobody wants it?"

Entitlement, The Nanny State, New Orleans and Katrina Recovery

One of my fellow bloggers, Texas Fred, has posted two very interesting articles in recent days.

The first post here illustrates the ongoing, generational welfare entitlement attitude held by a portion of the New Orleans residents who can't seem to get off their butts and get their lives in order without believing they are entitled to endless government handouts.

The second post here illustrates another portion of the New Orleans residents, those who have stood up, yanked on their boots, gotten their lives in order, cleaned up their communities and gone on with their lives, without waiting for the government to step in and bail them out.

Neither group is white nor rich. Both groups are minorities (although one group is the predominant majority in New Orleans, essentially "flipping" the national "norm").

One of the most mis-attributed quotes we've heard a lot of lately is this:
"A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have. (often attributed to Barry Goldwater; however, was taken from Gerald Ford who used it in a Presidential address to a joint session of Congress on August 12, 1974)".
In the past week or so, we've heard a lot of nonsense regarding the California fires and the government's response thereto. Frankly, I'm sick of the whining coming out of New Orleans about the only reason California had such excellent response was because the victims are "white", "rich", "Republican", etc.

The truth of the matter is California has to deal with wildfires on a yearly basis. They have the responders and the action plan in place. They drill on those action plans. They prepare, hoping they never have to use their skills, but ready when called upon to do so. They have the chain of command in place and it's followed, like a well-oiled machine.

The population listen to their radios and tv's, paying attention to news alerts; they pack up their cars, prepare their pets, pack up their treasures so they aren't lost in the oncoming disaster, and when they are told to evacuate, they go. They protect their homes and valuables with insurance so the government doesn't have to rebuild their homes for them. Often, they lose their homes. Sometimes, they're lucky and their homes are spared.

They don't sit on their asses, watching disaster approach, waiting for the government to bail them out rather than taking some personal initiative and getting themselves, their loved ones, pets, etc. out of harm's way. They don't look to a corrupt mayor and governor to rescue their asses. Once disaster DOES hit, they don't roam the streets looting everything in sight. They don't take shelter in a sports stadium and trash it, committing felonies on their fellow victims.

The difference in the behaviour of the two groups of people in their respective stadiums couldn't be more telling. One group finishes the job a devastating hurricane started--and while they're busy finishing trashing the stadium, raping, robbing and in one or two rumored instances, murdering their fellow victims. No provisions made for emergency situations, even though the stadium was an obvious choice to shelter a large number of victims--none. Over in California, people were orderly, provision had been made for emergency situations, people pulled together, hotels donated shelter and food. All recognized they were in, essentially, the "same boat" (no pun intended) and pulled together for each other, not turning on each other like animals.

The bottom line? Both areas of the country suffered devastating disasters.

One area of the country, rotten to the core with corruption, is still trying to recover and get things under control, hampered by corruption and flat out laziness, perpetuated by a governmental nanny state and generational welfare wherein no one is responsible or accountable for even their own lives--they simply do not have the pride, the wherewithal, the motivation or the incentive to think for themselves and pick themselves up, dust themselves off and get down to the four letter word of 'W O R K" to get their lives back on track. It's been bred out of them. What's been bred INTO them is the blame game--blame all their misfortunes on anyone and everyone other than themselves.

The race card, the victim card, all of it is someone else's fault because they're black, or they're poor or they're whatever--just as long as they don't have to look into a mirror and see themselves reflected back. No one forced them to sit on their asses waiting for evacuation. No one forced them to act like turkeys that are too stupid to come in out of the rain and therefore "drown". No one forced them to loot, rob, rape and murder, thereby exacerbating an already horrendous situation. No one forced them to sit on their lazy asses waiting for the government to bail them out. The only ones who "forced" them was THEMSELVES and their own irresponsibility, laziness, their liberal brainwashing. The only ones "forcing" them to "stay down" now, while waiting for that government bail out at your and my expense, is themselves.

The other area of the country was prepared, well prepared and was able to implement its emergency plan in a well-rehearsed manner, thereby saving lives, if not property. No one is expecting the government to bail them out, they have provided for their needs themselves. they engage in that four letter word, "W O R K", prepare, follow evacuation procedures, etc.

It has NOTHING to do with being "white", "rich" or "Republican". It has everything to do with accountability, responsibility, maturity, pride, motivation, etc. It has everything to do with either expecting the government to be everything to you and providing you with everything from cradle to grave or getting off your lazy ass and doing for yourself.

That's the deal between a hurricane that hit a below sea level city, that the residents knew was coming, and did nothing to help themselves and a conflagration that again, residents knew was coming and did everything to help themselves.

And recovery? Ah, now we're back to Fred's posts.

It seems ALL we hear about regarding Katrina is the bad. We rarely, if ever, hear about those who have successfully put their lives back together and gone on. It doesn't make for very interesting news, you see, and it doesn't serve the media bias in the MSM.

But there is a success story to Katrina and that is within the Vietnamese community. From Fred's post today:

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The view from Kinh Nguyen’s front door these days is nothing like the “abandoned cemetery” she saw upon returning to her New Orleans neighborhood two months after Hurricane Katrina.

Gone are the blue tarps and plywood boards that covered storm-damaged homes in Village de l’Est, a mostly Vietnamese-American neighborhood. Nguyen’s lawn, which turned dark brown after briny floodwaters killed her grass, is now a lush green. Streets once littered with storm debris are as clean and pothole-free as any in the city.

“They’re all back,” Nguyen, a 45-year-old mother of four, said of her neighbors. “Every home looks nicer, newer.”

Village de l’Est’s rebound has been a remarkable success story in this misery-stricken city. At the same time, for better or worse, the hurricane has brought profound political and cultural change to the community.

And:

An estimated 90 percent of the 25,000 Vietnamese-Americans who lived in southeastern Louisiana before Katrina had returned within two years of Katrina’s onslaught, according to community leaders. They were among the first to start rebuilding their homes and reopening their businesses, and their community is recovering much more rapidly than some other parts of New Orleans.

Like many of her neighbors, Kinh Nguyen didn’t wait for the government’s help to repair her home, a modest, ranch-style house. She moved her family back in in March 2006, about 18 months before she received a federal housing grant.

Now. I don't want to hear about slavery, reparation or any other piece of crap nonsense. I don't want to hear "whitey owes it" to the "black man". I don't want to hear "lack of educational opportunities". I don't want to hear you grew up in a dysfunctional family, or your neighborhood was bad or any one of a kazillion excuses utilized for your behaviour other than the obvious one--you're too damn lazy to do anything for yourself and you expect me to pay the taxes to take care of you and your drug dealing, hip-hopping, gang-banging, procreating ad nauseum sorry asses. I plain don't want to hear it.

Why? Because it's old. It's whiny. It's bullshit. And here's why.

Contrary to the revisionist history you were taught at that public school, your people were not the only people enslaved or oppressed. Whites (read: "Irish") were enslaved and oppressed as well. So were Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Taiwanese,--an entire host of Asiatic peoples. Currently, many millions of Chinese, Koreans, Vietnamese and Taiwanese, to name a few, are enslaved, starving, brutally hunted down and slaughtered in absolutely horrific ways.

Many come here.

Perhaps if you were to google the "Fall of Saigon in 1975" you would get an honest report of the refugees and boat people that came here after the democratic-led congress cut off funding for our troops and we had to leave, never having lost a ground war or battle in Vietnam, but losing the war here at home. Perhaps you would learn about the Vietnamese who literally escaped with nothing more than their lives to come here, crossing the ocean in flimsy, overloaded boats.

People who were terrified of the regime left in power by the complicity of our own congress, led by those democrats you so admire. Did they know English? Often, no. Did they have homes to come to? Families waiting for them? Any idea where their next meal was coming from? Again, in most instances, no.

And what did these people do? They assimilated, became citizens, learned the language. While they were doing that, they found shelter. They found jobs. They worked their asses off. They opened businesses. They saved their money and brought relatives over, one by one. They supported each other within their families, each family member owning a business and each family member supporting one another.

They came from NOTHING. Literally NOTHING. And they made successes of themselves by their own hard work, their own pride, in themselves, their homes, their adopted country. They reveled in the freedoms they gained and they produced and gave back to the communities. Their children entered school, often hampered by linguistic barriers, and through sheer force of will, those children succeeded--often spectacularly.

They didn't wait for government handouts. They PRODUCED. And Katrina is a small example of this will to survive, to succeed, to achieve. They were hit just as hard as the blacks. But their community is nearly rebuilt, bigger, better, cleaner. In the same amount of time the blacks have had, waiting for handouts, the Vietnamese have assessed the situation, pulled on their boots and taken care of business. They didn't hand their lives over to government control; they took control of their own lives, their own responsibility to rebuild, their own accountability.

And they have succeeded.

So, why do we hear nothing but the bad coming out of New Orleans, focused on Jackson and Sharpton, the civil rights bullshit and how the government has let the people down? Because that's what fits the agenda.

While looking for pictures to illustrate this post, I ran across a very interesting spot, Katrinablog.org. Here's a sampling of both the victim/race mentality as well as an exemplary spotlight on the advantage this author took of the educational opportunities afforded--to both the author as well as his Vietnamese counterpart:
first of all i would like to send out my regards to those who lost there lives or those trying to regain theres in hurricane katrina after all it has been christmas and i wish them all a happy (if thats possible) new year.

this site was made to point out the faults in what seems to be a stable society that is only glossed over because the government doesnt want people to know whats going on, only to then complain when the worst happens.

i can only point this out through the disaster of hurricane katrina, its nearly half a year since the hurricane hit the bahamas and then went on to reap its way through parts of america and still people are trying to find loved ones and are struggling to rebuild there lives, why you ask because some people are more concerned with stopping tyrants thousands of miles away and fighting wars that have no meaning, than say helping communitys in its back garden.

what i really dont get though is how can a countrys government which claims to have some of the best technology in the world not moniter and pre-empt the course of a hurrican the day it formed. i mean it hit the bahamas first and it was widely noted there what its predicted course would be, where was the evacuations, where was the help, there was none.

it seems yeat again that we are failed by leaders who are so ego driven that they cannot see past their nose to the damage they've caused and show no sincerety in the remorse for the people involved.

our love goes out to those who were involved in katrina and we wish them a happier year than the last.

Is that the worst piece of anti-government, "give me my gubment handout now" bullshit you've ever read? Where did this person spend the time he was supposed to be in school? It's obvious he couldn't be bothered to attend any kind of english class.

It's certainly not something you see written by his Vietnamese counterpart. It does illustrate where the nanny state will take us.

Go read Fred's articles here and here. Then contrast it with Katrinablog.org here.

Who would you rather be associated with? I would rather be with the people who exemplify what this country stands for, the Vietnamese, and their indomitable will to survive and thrive, succeed and achieve. What about you?
