Islamophobes Working Hard to Marginalize Moderate Muslims - What??

Cross posted from Radarsite
Islamophobes [That's Us, Folks] Working Hard to Marginalize Moderate Muslims

Cross posted from An American Muslim Journal

Ingrid Mattson, Muslims at Democratic Convention, ISNA...

Fox News is confused about why the DNC would invite Ingrid
Mattson to an interfaith gathering on the eve of the DNC convention.
What's so confusing?
Well, for starters, Ingrid Mattson, a scholar at Hartford Seminary, is a Muslim.
Furthermore, Ingrid Mattson is the president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), a national, mainstream Muslim organization based in Plainfield, IN.
So what, you ask? I'm wondering the same thing - so what?

The blogosphere (for example: see here, here and here) and necon pundits are tripping over one another Dr. Mattson's involvement at the democratic convention.
Dr. Mattson is being labeled a radical and a terrorist sympathizer and her organization (ISNA) is being labeled a front from the Muslim Brotherhood. None of this is true, but when did truth ever get in the way of Islamophobes

A note from Radarsite: Well, here it comes: the Muslim spin cycle. Should we really be that surprised? Once again, the poor downtrodden Muslims are being misunderstood and the Religion of Peace is being maligned. And who are the evil forces at work this time, busily manipulating the facts and slandering Islam? Why it is none other than the "necon" Islamophobes. And who are these dark entities? Our intrepid Muslim reporter lists three: Atlas Shrugs, The Gates of Vienna, and yours truly, Radarsite. Thank you for that AMJ; I am honored to be in such fine company. But, I'm left to wonder -- is there anyone out there who will actually fall for this claptrap? the answer, unfortunately, seems to be, Yes. There are still those liberal PC multicultural types who will eat this up, and automatically rally to the defense of the persecuted Muslims.
And just what are some of these lies about the good Ingrid Mattson that we are promulgating?
Well, here's just one for starters:

ISNA, a group related to the violent Muslim Brotherhood, was named by the U.S. government a co-conspirator for a 2007 federal trial which dealt with the financing of millions of dollars to Hamas. Also, as recently as last month, under Mattson’s watch, ISNA propagated material on its national website calling for the murder of Jews and the waging of war against Jews and Christians. The violent ISNA documents can be viewed here.

For those of you who may not have read the previous article, you can read the rest here.
We simply cannot let them have the last word. Especially, when their last words are bold-faced lies. - rg

Truth about the Lies

From CJ

As a milblogger, I get a lot of ignorant emails spouting lies about all sorts of topics. For example, did you know that the Bush administration is secretly in the planning stages of declaring marshal law just prior to the elections so he maintain his power as President? Yup, and I'm even in on it as a Soldier, according to one emailer!!

But, the one I see and hear far too often is the ignorant "Bush Lied, Soldiers Died" catch phrase of the liberal wingnuts. Don't get me wrong, I have no doubts that Bush has lied - he's a politician just like every other crook in DC. I've got a new post up on VAMC that I think you'll find very informative, especially if you also find yourself fighting the ignorance in your daily battles with the defeatists in this country.

http://www.vamortgagecenter.com/blog/2008/08/24/the-truth-about-the-lies/

I KNOW all my regular readers already know the "truth about the lies", but go read what CJ has to say. Maybe even copy it and share it.

Thanks CJ.

Nancy Pelosi is a Liar

Nancy Pelosi on when life begins

On Meet the Depressed...er...Press this morning...
MR. BROKAW: Senator Obama saying the question of when life begins is above his pay grade, whether you're looking at it scientifically or theologically. If he were to come to you and say, "Help me out here, Madame Speaker. When does life begin?" what would you tell him?

REP. PELOSI: I would say that as an ardent, practicing Catholic, this is an issue that I have studied for a long time. And what I know is, over the centuries, the doctors of the church have not been able to make that definition. And Senator--St. Augustine said at three months. We don't know. The point is, is that it shouldn't have an impact on the woman's right to choose. Roe v. Wade talks about very clear definitions of when the child--first trimester, certain considerations; second trimester; not so third trimester. There's very clear distinctions. This isn't about abortion on demand, it's about a careful, careful consideration of all factors and--to--that a woman has to make with her doctor and her god. And so I don't think anybody can tell you when life begins, human life begins. As I say, the Catholic Church for centuries has been discussing this, and there are those who've decided...

Nancy Pelosi Lied On National TV About The Catholic Church's Position On Abortion

Topics: Political News and commentaries

Clearly, unequivocally, and no possible doubt whatsoever, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is either a babbling idiot who makes claims and says things with no thought whatsoever as to the validity of her statements, or she callously and blatantly lied on Meet the Press today while attempting to spin the Catholic doctrine on human life.

Pelosi has decided on her own that Pope Benedict's warning that Catholic politicians that support abortion risked excommunication from the Church and should not receive communion if they support abortion. She actually told Tom Brokaw that as an ardent, practicing Catholic, she has studied the issue of abortion for a long time and she knows that over the centuries, the doctors of the church have not been able to "make that definition."
... St. Augustine said at three months. We don't know. The point is, is that it shouldn't have an impact on the woman's right to choose. Roe v. Wade talks about very clear definitions of when the child-first trimester, certain considerations; second trimester; not so third trimester. There's very clear distinctions. This isn't about abortion on demand, it's about a careful, careful consideration of all factors and-to-that a woman has to make with her doctor and her god. And so I don't think anybody can tell you when life begins, human life begins. As I say, the Catholic Church for centuries has been discussing this, and there are those who've decided...
She even goes on to say that the Catholic Church's present position on the pill began 50 years ago with the event of the pill.
Pelosi is so typical of the liberal Democrats. They see the world and life as they want to see it, and express their distorted perceptions as such, and seldom, if ever, see the world and life as it really is based on the facts and uncontested truth.

For the benefit of Madam Pelosi and the Democratic Party, Church writings specifically naming abortion as murder appear as early as 70 AD in the Didache, the first written catechism of the Christian church, and in spite of the attempts of various writers and groups, and even some church authorities and a few popes to the contrary, the history of the position of the Catholic Church that abortion is murder and that it is evil dates back as early as the Didache and remains the same to this day. And as for Pelosi deciding on her own what the position of the Church is at the time of her sitting before Brokaw based upon her own readings and interpretations - if in fact she actually did so, perhaps as a practicing Catholic, as she so claims to be, instead, might consider following her faith as her Pope and mine, Pope Benedict XVI, proclaims. (Which is what a "practicing" Catholic does)

By the way, one cannot honestly say they are a "practicing catholic" and support abortion. Each position unequivocally disqualifies the other.

Wafa Sultan on Sharia Law

Video link: Walfa Sultan on Sharia 2008

Under Sharia law your civil rights become null and void. Women become second class citizens, gays are executed, drinking that beer at home is forbidden, freedom to practice the religion of your choice or no religion at all will be replaced by mandatory following of the Qur'an and Islam
All the liberties we in the West take for granted will be removed by force if necessary and all of it merely on the basis of gender, religion, or other groups you might identify with.

How many times do we need to be warned before you do something about it while there is still time? Ignoring it won't make it go away and if you think it can't or won't happen here, THINK again. It has already begun.
Follow the video link at the top of this post, listen to someone who has lived under Sharia law and watch the other video's at the web site listed above.

Do something instead of sitting there, losing yourself in some time wasting television program or telling yourself you can't do anything about it. Can you write a letter? Can you make phone calls? Can you read? Can you speak to your neighbors? Can you talk to your friends?

Don't tell me you can't do anything about it.

From Cassandra to Jesus Christ, it is amazing how often the doomed choose to ignore those who warn them of their coming fate. ~Snooper~

When you have finished watching the video please read "Lights Out on Liberty."

We have a realistic chance of stopping this nonsense before it happens. So get with it. Do it now.

Obama's Admiration of China - A Country with No Water

Cross-posted by Maggie at Maggie's Notebook

"Everybody’s watching what’s going on in Beijing right now with the Olympics. Think about the amount of money that China has spent on infrastructure. Their ports, their train systems, their airports are vastly the superior to us now which means if you are a corporation deciding where to do business you’re starting to think, Beijing looks like a pretty good option.”

The problem is, China has no water. Beijing may look sleek and gorgeous at the Olympics, but the truth is, water is an apocalyptic issue to the Chinese.
Beijing, the business environment admired by Senator Obama, is a northern city - where the water is not. Forget the reports of diverting water from farmers for the Olympics; that's no big deal, but what is a big deal is that Beijing's water supply is down to one-third of the supply available just ten years ago. MSNBC reported that despite China's efforts to quell the use of water by farmers and move industry out of the city, Beijing's water has dropped by two-thirds in ten years:
BEIJING - When 16,000 athletes and officials show up this summer, they will be able to turn the taps and get drinkable water — something few Beijing residents ever have enjoyed.
China has a long history of championing water conservation, but with an exploding population and often less-than responsible regulatory policies, few measurable results are evident.

In May 2000 the Earth Policy Institute reported that the water table underneath the city of Beijing fell by eight feet, and since 1965 the water table has fallen nearly 200 feet.

In November 2007, The International Herald Tribune confirmed that the underground water table beneath Shijiazhuang, China is "steadily running dry."
The underground water table is sinking about four feet a year. Municipal wells have already drained two-thirds of the local groundwater.
In the 1950's, Shijiazhuang was home to 335,000 people. Today, the population of the city and its surrounds is in excess of 9 million. Increased population, accelerated housing and commercial development, combined with policies that have sometimes allowed building at the "lowest points in the city's water table," have created a mammoth problem.
China’s disadvantage, compared with the United States, is that it has a smaller water supply yet almost five times as many people. China has about 7 percent of the world’s water resources and roughly 20 percent of its population. It also has a severe regional water imbalance, with about four-fifths of the water supply in the south.
Throughout the country groundwater shows unacceptable levels of contamination. From WorldWatch Intitute:
The water in Zhao Bo’s village on the outskirts of Beijing was a sickly shade of green. After drinking from the local well, Zhao and his fellow villagers could not go a month without suffering from diarrhea.
From SciDev.net:
[BEIJING] Some 65 million Chinese rely on underground water supplies that are heavily contaminated with arsenic or fluoride, according to the first national survey of the quality of the country's supply of drinking water.
Another problem: China can only barely feed it's people, and water is part of the problem.

China's plan to self-feed 95% of its population "within 12 years," faces huge challenges. Current facts reveal the enormity of the task.

Vice Minister of Water Resources, Hu Siyi, recently announced a price increase on water usage to the consumer. Siyi cited the country's "low-level" of efficiency of agricultural water usage. According to the Vice Minister, 70% of China's water is used for agricultural purposes.

In February 2008, China announced an increase in the country's "minimum purchasing price for wheat and rice," in an effort to protect the profit levels of the farming industry:
The announcement said the minimum purchasing price for different types of rice ranges from 75 yuan (about US$10.4) to 79 yuan per 50 kilograms; while that for wheat ranges between 70 yuan and 75 yuan.

Last year the minimum purchasing price for wheat and rice stood at 69 to 72 yuan and 70 to 75 yuan, respectively.
I can't think of anything (and I've spent some time thinking about it) in China that is superior - certainly not "vastly superior" to the U.S. Trains? China must have them; the people cannot afford autos. Ports? China cranks out the goods to the West, but we are certainly capable of receiving them in our ports. Airports: I count twelve major airports for China's huge population. Getting around this enormous country must be hell.

Obama: not much thought given to his remarks - trying to convince Americans how very disadvantaged we are. Most Americans know better.
