Oh the Irony--Mexico is Having Problems Re-Absorbing It's Citizens

Arizona had an interesting law go into effect January 1, 2008. It's called the Employer Sanctions Law and requires ALL employers to verify ALL employees are United States citizens. In anticipation of this law going into effect, many illegals from the Tucson and Phoenix areas "self-deported" with their families right around Christmas (normally, the illegals would pack up the family and cross back "home" to visit with the family and then come back here). In anticipation of the new law, the border was full with the illegals moving home.

Well. That's a good thing.

Then, we have several businesses in Phoenix going belly up and declaring bankruptcy. Three reasons--1) the Employer Sanctions Law; 2) the businesses catered to illegals (who are self-deporting) and 3) if the businesses didn't specifically cater to illegals, they hired illegals.

This is also a good thing.

Here's the ironic part...Mexico has issues with the Employer Sanction Law. Mexico is concerned it can't handle the influx of it's own citizens back into their home country.

According to a January 4, 2008 AP article entitled "Mexico Criticizes Arizona Employer Sanctions Law" here,
"Measures like the one approved in Arizona do not contribute to solving the issue of migration by workers between the two countries, and ignore the contributions that migrants make to the U.S. economy and society," Mexico's Foreign Relations Department said.
and:
The Mexican government considers migration an unavoidable phenomenon given the higher wages in the United States. It strongly opposes tightened U.S. controls such as border fences, and instead wants temporary work-visa programs and legalization of workers in the United States.
Well, what can you expect from a country whose main export is its own citizens? It gets better, folks.

Two articles in Arizona papers today (although I first heard this on the 5:30 p.m. news last night while waiting for my daughter's softball game to finish).

The first article was published by the Tucson Citizen, Sheryl Kornman reporting and is titled "Sonoran Officials Slam Sanctions Law In Tucson Visit". The opening paragraphs of this article read:
A delegation of nine state legislators from Sonora was in Tucson on Tuesday to say Arizona's new employer sanctions law will have a devastating effect on the Mexican state.

At a news conference, the legislators said Sonora - Arizona's southern neighbor, made up of mostly small towns - cannot handle the demand for housing, jobs and schools it will face as illegal Mexican workers here return to their hometowns without jobs or money.
a few more tidbits:
"How can they pass a law like this?" asked Mexican Rep. Leticia Amparano Gamez, who represents Nogales.
and:
"Mexico is not prepared for this, for the tremendous problems" it will face as more and more Mexicans working in Arizona and sending money to their families return to hometowns in Sonora without jobs, she said.
and the money quote from this article:
"What do we do with the repatriated?" he asked. "As Mexicans, we are worried. They are Mexicans but they are also people - fathers and mothers and young people with jobs" who won't have work in Sonora."
Then, there's this article from Channel 12 News (NBC Affiliate, Phoenix), Melissa Gonzalo reporting and titled "Sonoran Legislators Oppose Employer Sanctions Law" .
Sonoran legislators from Mexico's PAN democratic party said their state is not prepared for a mass return of Mexican nationals. They met with Arizona legislators at the State Capitol Wednesday morning. They said they understand the reasons for the employer sanctions law, but said they don't think all the consequences were taken into account.

"We are concerned because probably we won't be able to have all the resources to help in case the amount of people are too many people," said coordinator of the group, Florencio Diaz Armenta. The delegation from Sonora said they cannot quantify how many people have returned to their state from Arizona, so far. But they said, based on anecdotal information, they know there are two groups returning- day laborers and professionals.

Armenta said Mexico does have a plan in place to help those immigrants returning to their country, but he said it is not enough. He said they plan on continuing to engage in open dialogue with Arizona lawmakers in hopes of reaching an agreement. "There is a history of relationship between the states Arizona and Sonora," said Armenta. "We have families on both sides, so we have to worry about what happens on both sides of the border." He said they hope to invite Arizona legislators to meet in Sonora the next time.

The delegation from Sonora also met with LULAC in Tucson.
My take on this? Mexico didn't think Arizona would follow through. Now, Mexico (the country whose main export is its people) has to find a way to solve their own problems with their own people--and they don't like it. They are having to deal with the same problems (on a significantly smaller scale at this point) the United States has had to deal with in absorbing their citizens into our country. They are, quite simply, going to have to find solutions to deal with their citizens. They're going to have to work on their economy, work on their infrastructure, all the things that make a country. They're not going to be able to count on the illegal earnings flowing back to them from the United States. That money flow is drying up.

And it's not just Arizona enforcing the laws. Tulsa, Oklahoma is enforcing as well. From World Net Daily, we see this headline (article postes August 25, 2007): "Mandatory Deportation Has Illegals On The Run" with the subtitle of "State Law Limiting Benefits Looms, and Estimated 25,000 Take to Road". The money quote from this article is here:
"This isn't about whether you are for or against immigration, or for or against immigrants. It doesn't matter what your skin color is or if you speak with an accent. What matters is if you are in the country legally or illegally. The only people threatened by House Bill 1804 are those who choose to break the law," he said.
Expect more whining from Mexico and racist groups such as Aztlan and La Raza. Laws are being enforced, sanctuary cities are rescinding their sanctuary stand (Phoenix for example) and the illegals are peaceably self-deporting.

It's about time.

Gabrielle Giffords' Tunnel Enforcement Act

I received the following email from Gabrielle Giffords and thought it was worth posting for all to see. While I have stated many times she and I don't see eye to eye on many issues, there are several things I do appreciated from her. One of those efforts of hers is her on-going efforts to stay in touch with her constituents, even when they don't agree with her.

On this issue, what she's communicated to me sounds good--I will qualify this, though, as something I have to delve into deeper to make sure I'm understanding it correctly. On the surface, it appears she is indeed serious about not only enforcing our laws but tightening them up as well with stricter penalties. Here, then, is her email to me:

December 21, 2007

Dear [Redacted],

This week the House passed the Fiscal Year 2008 Appropriations package and it is now going to the President for his signature. I thought you might be interested in hearing about a provision that I included in that legislation to toughen our border security.

I first introduced this legislation as a stand-alone bill, called the Tunnel Enforcement Act (H.R. 4326). My legislation, as passed in the appropriations package, will ensure that the federal government can prosecute smugglers who tunnel into the United States .

This provision criminalizes the construction of tunnels under the U.S. border and adds this prohibition to the federal criminal code. It also creates criminal penalties for using tunnels to smuggle illegal aliens, goods, controlled substances, weapons, or terrorists.

Specifically, the Tunnel Enforcement Act established the following federal crimes and corresponding sentences.

--Any person who knowingly constructs or finances the construction of a tunnel or subterranean passage that crosses the international border between the United States and another country, other than a lawfully authorized tunnel or passage known to the Secretary of Homeland Security and subject to inspection by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, shall be fined under this title and imprisoned for not more than 20 years.

--Any person who knowingly or recklessly disregards the construction or use of a tunnel or passage described in subsection (a) on land that the person owns or controls shall be fined under this title and imprisoned for not more than 10 years.

--Any person who uses a tunnel or passage described in subsection (a) to unlawfully smuggle an alien, goods, controlled substances, weapons of mass destruction, or a member of a terrorist organization shall be subject to a maximum term of imprisonment that is twice the maximum term of imprisonment that would have otherwise been applicable had the unlawful activity not made use of such a tunnel or passage.

Securing our border is my highest priority in Congress, and I have consistently been an advocate for strengthened border security by supporting these measures in Congress:

--Border Law Enforcement Enhancement Act (H.R. 2542) to fund enhanced law enforcement operations, as well as the detention and transfer of illegal aliens to federal authorities (cosponsor),

--To provide for the next generation of border and maritime security technologies (H.R. 3916) by deploying UAVs and Advanced Tunnel Detection on the U.S.-Mexico border and study additional border security needs (cosponsor),

--Motion to Recommit on the Section 8 Voucher Reform Act of 2007 (H.R. 1851) to prevent illegal immigrants from receiving housing assistance,

--Alien Smuggling and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 (H.R. 2399) to increase penalties for smuggling an illegal immigrant into the U.S. (H.R. 2399), and

--Department of Defense Appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2008 (H.R. 3222) to support $247 million for the continuing National Guard operations along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Additionally, I launched a vigorous campaign in Congress to add $55 million in much needed funding to the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP). This program reimburses our county and state law enforcement agencies for the costs of incarcerating illegal immigrants. Other members of Congress and the President proposed cutting this essential federal program. As a result of my added funding, Congress included a total of $410 million in SCAAP funding in the Commerce-Justice-Science Appropriations bill that passed the House as part of the FY 2008 Omnibus Appropriations package. The Omnibus funding package is going to the President for his signature which is expected promptly thereafter.

I always appreciate hearing from constituents, like you, who are informed and interested in issues of important to Arizona and the nation. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if you require assistance. My job as your representative is to assist you with federal agencies, access services and get your policy questions answered thoroughly. Feel free to sign-up for e-news updates on my website at www.giffords.house.gov.

Sincerely Yours,
Gabrielle Giffords
Member of Congress

Good job, Gabrielle. THIS is the kind of stuff your constituents want to see progress made on, not appeasement.

Teddy Roosevelt-1907 View of Immigration

Although I've seen this before, it finally came (from Bonnie) with a picture I liked.

The text beneath the picture reads (NOTE: all emphasis mine):

In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.'

Do it legally or don't do it at all.

Cheap Tomatoes

Another gem from Bonnie:

This is why the taxpayers are fed up with the President and the congress!

This English teacher (ESL) has phrased it very well.

Tomatoes and Cheap Labor

CHEAP TOMATOES?
This should make everyone think...be you Democrat, Republican or Independent.

From a California school teacher

As you listen to the news about the student protests over
illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:

I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at
a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school,
meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels.

Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens ,
Huntington Park , etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.
Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)

I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight.
About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK AGAIN)

I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America . (MORE OF OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK).

I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less than 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them 'Putas' whores and throwing things, that the teachers were in tears.

Free medical, free education, free food, day care, etc., etc, etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements ?

To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.

Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes.

We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster, because we won't have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?

It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about “political correctness” that we don't have the will to do anything about it.

CHEAP LABOR? Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about?

Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage.

Consumers don't want expensive produce.

Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs.

But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase “cheap labor” is a myth, a farce and a lie.
There is no such thing as “cheap labor.”

Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for
$5.00 or 6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax yet at the end of the year, IF he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an “earned income credit” of up to $3,200 free.

He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent.

He qualifies for food stamps.

He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care.

His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school!

He requires bilingual teachers and books.

He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.

If they are or become aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at (our) taxpayer's expense .

He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance or homeowners insurance.

Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.

He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.

Working class Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills AND his.

The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.

Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people!

THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ADDRESSING TO THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR EITHER PARTY. AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON'T DO AS WE SAY, WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT ONCE!

Breaking and Entering--Worth Repeating

Another HT to my friend Bonnie:

Breaking and Entering:

A lady wrote the best letter to the editor in ages!!! It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV.

Her point:

Recently, large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist I leave.

But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and done the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters:

You are REQUIRED to let me stay in your house. You are REQUIRED to add me to your family's insurance plan. You are REQUIRED to educate my children. You are REQUIRED to provide other benefits to me & to my family (my husband will do all of your yard work because he is also hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim MY RIGHT to be there (in your house I broke into).

It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm a hard-working and honest person, except for, well, you know, I did break into your house.

And what a deal it is for me!!!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of cold, uncaring, selfish, prejudiced and bigoted behavior.

Oh yeah, I DEMAND that you learn MY LANGUAGE!!! so you can communicate with me.

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in America .

Can We Hope for Special Circumstances for Jesus Cordova?

So there's a wonderful story making the rounds about an illegal immigrant selflessly giving of himself to a 9 year old boy, a child who had just been traumatized by a wreck in which his mother died--and his father died two months ago.

Many of us on the right feel strongly about the illegal immigration issue and want to see laws currently on the books enforced.

We also recognize there are situations which occasionally warrant finding a loophole and this is one of those situations. The story is garnering such attention simply because of its rarity--and everyone, I don't care who you are, likes to hear something good every once in a while.

The AP Story reads as follows:

Illegal immigrant rescues boy in desert

By TERRY TANG, Associated Press writerSat Nov 24, 1:27 AM ET

A 9-year-old boy looking for help after his mother crashed their van in the southern Arizona desert was rescued by a man entering the U.S. illegally, who stayed with him until help arrived the next day, an official said.

The 45-year-old woman, who eventually died while awaiting help, had been driving on a U.S. Forest Service road in a remote area just north of the Mexican border when she lost control of her van on a curve on Thanksgiving, Santa Cruz County Sheriff Tony Estrada said.

The van vaulted into a canyon and landed 300 feet from the road, he said. The woman, from Rimrock, north of Phoenix, survived the impact but was pinned inside, Estrada said.

Her son, unhurt but disoriented, crawled out to get help and was found about two hours later by Jesus Manuel Cordova, 26, of Magdalena de Kino in the northern Mexican state of Sonora. Unable to pull the mother out, he comforted the boy while they waited for help.

The woman died a short time later.

"He stayed with him, told him that everything was going to be all right," Estrada said.

As temperatures dropped, he gave him a jacket, built a bonfire and stayed with him until about 8 a.m. Friday, when hunters passed by and called authorities, Estrada said. The boy was flown to University Medical Center in Tucson as a precaution but appeared unhurt.

"We suspect that they communicated somehow, but we don't know if he knows Spanish or if the gentleman knew English," Estrada said of the boy.

"For a 9-year-old it has to be completely traumatic, being out there alone with his mother dead," Estrada said. "Fortunately for the kid, (Cordova) was there. That was his angel."

Cordova was taken into custody by Border Patrol agents, who were the first to respond to the call for help. He had been trying to walk into the U.S. when he came across the boy.

The boy and his mother were in the area camping, Estrada said. The woman's husband, the boy's father, had died only two months ago. The names of the woman and her son were not being released until relatives were notified.

Cordova likely saved the boy, Estrada said, and his actions should remind people not to quickly characterize illegal immigrants as criminals.

"They do get demonized for a lot of reasons, and they do a lot of good. Obviously this is one example of what an individual can do," he said.

Of course, the lefty blogs are full of their normal snarkiness about the motivation of the right in wanting border laws enforced and full of their normal bitching about how the right never sees any good in any immigrant, demonizes all illegals, etc., etc., etc.

As usual, the lefty blogs are full of their rampant hysteria because they haven't bothered to fact check or verify before villifying the right. One would think they get some sort of Pavlovian pleasure out of such villification and must indulge in it at all costs to keep their pleasure centers active.

Here's one such example from Latina Lista:

Kind Act of Illegal Immigrant Towards Lost 9-Year-Old Shatters False Stereotypes

That's just the headline. Never mind for there to be a stereotype, there is generally some truth that makes the stereotype. Never mind crime has risen disproportionately due to the illegals flooding the southern border. Never mind it's been verified terrorists are coming through that same border with the drug smugglers and cartels. Never mind the burden on the health care systems and legal systems by the illegals--the ones bankrupting medical centers in border areas because they don't pay the bills for their care. Never mind the ones driving illegally, the rise in DUI's, often with devastating wrecks to go with them and no way for the victims to recover from those wrecks. Or the sex crimes (rape and child molestation)--you can say I stereotype all you want, but please explain why there is such a record of Mexican sex crimes, often against children? Never mind the increase in gang activities, drug smuggling and spousal abuse/domestic violence.

Let's see what else Marisa Trevino has to say.
Yet, the comments left at one news site by American readers underscore how deep, for lack of a better word, the hatred runs for anyone who is deemed an undocumented immigrant from Mexico and beyond.

Readers were quick to point out that this one act of kindness doesn't erase the "burglaries, drug dealings and shootings" of other undocumented immigrants. Yet, what these readers fail to acknowledge is that those people who do those things are true criminals.

Just as much as all the white, African American and Asian American people who commit the same type of offenses.

Walking across an imaginary line in the sand, whether fortified by a fence or not, doesn't make a person a criminal, but rather criminalizes a person.

Actually, Marisa dear, crossing that imaginary line DOES make a person a criminal if they are crossing that line illegally.

What part of illegal do these people not understand?

And her final snark:
The only problem is that too many people will choose to not see beyond Jesus' illegal crossing.
Actually, Marisa dear, if you would pull your head out of your ass long enough to do some actual research (oh wait--that would mean fact check and verify, something foreign to you), you would see that quite a few of us would like to see some sort of loophole for Mr. Cordova, so he could remain here legally, particularly after he did something so very selfless, even knowing what the consequences would be for him waiting for rescuers with a 9 year old orphan.

It's not often people go out of their way anymore--to help anyone. And it's precisely because of the loony liberals twisting and screwing around with past, present and (hopefully in their eyes) future laws (define IS...) that even if you help someone you get screwed over.

Yet Mr. Cordova did go out of his way. He helped a child. A child traumatized first by his father's death two months ago and then by his mother's death in this accident. A child alone in the desert, where night time temperatures drop dramatically. He built a fire to keep this child warm and gave this child his jacket. He waited with this child until help came. Completely selfless acts on all counts.

I, for one, think there should be some special consideration given to Mr. Cordova for his selfless act. Had he been one of the stereotypes, this child most likely would be very ill, if not dead himself, simply from exposure. Was Mr. Cordova here illegally? Yes. Did he break the law? Yes. However, by saving this child's life, I think that more than cancels out crossing that border illegally. Just from this one act, it appears Mr. Cordova is the kind of person we want in this country.

Let's hope some sort of special circumstance can be found to help him as he so selflessly helped a child.

Catch the Wave!

Fred Thompson and Immigration

For those who don't live anywhere near a border area and are relatively untouched by the illegal immigration debate--other than sitting in your coffee shops, sipping your lattes and discussing how you "feel" we are so inhumane towards those who break the law coming here, by staying here, by bringing their extended families here, by working here illegally, by bringing their crime here, by increasing our crime here, and on and on, I say to you, GET REAL.

There's not a rational person in this country against legal immigration and wholeheartedly welcoming legal immigrants--particularly those who want to be here so badly they actually assimilate into the country and don't demand entitlement after entitlement for their lawbreaking.

Oh wait--we're back to illegals sucking the country dry with their crimes again.

We now have Fred's immigration proposal--and it's a good one. The only thing I can see where it's weak is in dealing with the illegals already here although the issue is addressed.

However--by enforcing the rules already on the books, illegals will self-deport and have already begun doing so. Fred is for enforcing rules already on the books.

From NumbersUSA, here are some of the high points of Fred's comprehensive immigration plan (full plan can be found here):

  • END CHAIN MIGRATION!

I don't find any other presidential website that explicitly has the end of chain migration as a goal. I have maintained since my first books in the mid-1990s that ending Chain Migration is the single most effective action for reducing negative immigration impacts. Chain Migration breeds all kinds of illegal immigration among extended family who feel they have an entitlement to immigrate and don't wait their turn. Chain Migration multiplies the harm of every immigration action by allowing each new immigrant and refugee to eventually import huge extended families and eventually whole villages.

  • Thompson would restrict immigrants and refugees to bringing in their spouse and minor children. No more adult siblings, adult children or parents. Hence, no more nephews, nieces, in-laws, aunts, uncles and cousins -- unless they earn the right on their own merits. Everybody could come to visit on carefully controlled visitor visas. But if people want to live with their entire extended families, they'll need to continue to live where their extended family lives.

  • ELIMINATE THE VISA LOTTERY.

Since 1990, this ridiculous program gives away the opportunity for U.S. citizenship to some 50,000 people a year based on totally random luck of the draw, with no regard to the national interest, the immigrant's skills, education or humanitarian claim.

  • Inadvertently, the lottery rules are set up so that people from terrorist sponsoring countries are a disproportionate percentage of the winners.

The lottery is a breeder of illegal immigration as it gives false hopes to tens of millions of people around the world who play the lottery each year, many of whom eventually decide to speed up their dream by moving illegally to the U.S. and waiting to win the lottery here.

  • (weakness) No Explicit Goal of Numerical Reduction.

Although eliminating Chain Migration and the Visa Lottery would reduce future legal and illegal immigration by 5-8 million per decade, it would do so only if Congress and the President abstain from increasing other categories of immigration. Thompson has left this issue unanswered. I can find Tom Tancredo as the only candidate who actually promises total immigration reductions. Tancredo urges that legal immigration be reduced from its current 1 million a year to 250,000 a year, which is near our traditional average before the last three decades of abuse.

  • NO AMNESTY.

Thompson seems to rule out any kind of amnesty that would allow illegal aliens to remain in the United States.

  • ATTRITION THROUGH ENFORCEMENT.

Thompson promotes that very term. His goal is to drive as many illegal aliens as possible to voluntarily leave the country because magnets have been removed and the chances of being arrested and deported have been increased. He does not accept that we are stuck with the 12-20 million illegal aliens.

  • MANDATORY USE OF E-VERIFY BY ALL BUSINESSES TO KEEP IL

  • LEGAL ALIENS OUT OF U.S. JOBS.

  • DENY TAX DEDUCTION TO EMPLOYERS FOR THE WAGES THEY PAY TO ILLEGAL ALIENS.

The IRS already knows all the employees who are working without valid Social Security numbers. This provision would simply authorize the IRS to disallow deductions for wages paid to those particular employees, thus increasing the costs of hiring illegals.

  • FINISH BUILDING THE 854--MILE WALL ON THE MEXICAN BORDER AS AUTHORIZED BY 2006 LAW.

  • RIGOROUS ENTRY/EXIT TRACKING OF LEGAL VISITORS.

"Complete the implementation of a system to track visa entrants and exits, as has been required by federal law for more than ten years, and connect it to the FBI's National Crime Information Center (NCIC), in order to curb visa overstays and permit more effective enforcement."

  • TARGET SMUGGLERS, GANG MEMBERS AND SPEED UP DEPORTATIONS.

"Adding resources for the Department of Justice to prosecute alien smugglers, people involved in trafficking in false identification documents, and previously deported felons. ... Maximizing efforts to prosecute and convict members of criminal alien gangs, such as MS-13 and affiliated gangs. ... Implementing fully and making greater use of the expedited removal process already allowed under federal law."

  • ENFORCE EXISTING FEDERAL LAWS.

  • END SANCTUARY CITIES & BENEFITS TO ILLEGAL ALIENS.

Cut off discretionary federal grant funds "as appropriate to any community that, by law, ordinance, executive order, or other formal policy directs its public officials not to comply with the provisions of 8 USC 1373 and 8 USC 1644, which prohibit any state or local government from restricting in any way communications with the Department of Homeland Security regarding the immigration status, lawful or unlawful, of an alien in the United States."

  • "Deny discretionary Federal education grants as appropriate to public universities that violate federal law by offering in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens without also offering identical benefits to United States citizens, regardless of whether or not they live in the state, as required by 8 USC 1623."

  • "Deny discretionary Federal grants as appropriate to states and local governments that violate federal law by offering public benefits to illegal aliens, as prohibited by 8 USC 1621(a).

  • The above chart shows exactly how the country has grown in past decades with unchecked illegal immigration. It's time it came to an end. For the full proposal, follow the link and read it. It's good.

    Oklahoma's Crackdown on Illegals

My friend Bonnie contributed this; being a native Okie, I can only say I'm PROUD of my home state for having some gumption. Pioneers made Oklahoma; they're making it stronger still!

Well, it passed! Oklahoma is no longer OK for Illegal Aliens........ It
seems that at least one state has decided to take matters into it's own
hands, since the Federal Government keeps dragging it's feet on this Illegal
alien stuff and even reversing popular opinion on how to handle it. BRAVO
OKLAHOMA ! (Too bad all politicians don't have the 'guts' to do this)

Every State needs to do this!!!!

Oklahoma 's Governor Brad Henry has signed a sweeping immigration Reform
bill: House Bill 1804, that its sponsor believes will go a long way in dealing with the illegal alien problem in the
    state.

House Bill 1804 was passed by overwhelming majorities in both the House and
Senate of the Oklahoma Legislature. The measure's sponsor, State
Representative Randy Terrill, says the bill has four main topical areas: it
deals with identity theft; it terminates public assistance benefits to
illegal; it empowers state and local police to enforce federal immigration
laws; and it punishes employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens.

Oklahoma is no longer "O.K." for illegal aliens, Terrill observes. "When you
put everything together in context," he contends, "the bottom line is
illegal aliens will not come here if there are no jobs waiting for them,
they will not stay here if there is no government
subsidy, and they certainly won't stay here if they know that if they ever

encounter our state and local law enforcement officers, they will be
physically detained until they're deported. And that's exactly what House
    Bill 1804 does."

The Oklahoma legislator is pleased the bill he sponsored into law was signed
by Governor Henry and believes it will go a long way to curb the illegal
immigration problem in the state. "I would remind people that states are
separate sovereigns in our federal system," Terrill points out. "Anyone who
doesn't understand that needs to go back and take an American federal
government class in college," he says.

As a result of that sovereignty, the Oklahoma lawmaker insists, "We have as
much right - in fact, I would argue, a responsibility - to protect our
tax payers against that sort of egregious waste, fraud and abuse as the
federal government should have a responsibility to protect that
international border, but doesn't do that."

Terrill says as long as the federal government refuses to do its job of
protecting the international borders of the United States , states like
Oklahoma must take action to deal with the problem that is costing taxpayers
in the state $200 billion a year in public benefits, law enforcement costs,
    and other resources.

14 GOOD REASONS TO DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS
    (websites provided for verification)

Hope these 14 reasons are forwarded over and over again until they are read by the
majority of Americans. Then they will have something to yell at their U.S.
    Congress members.

$200 Billion Dollars a year in suppressed American wages are caused by the
    illegal aliens. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0604/01/ldt.01.html

The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a
half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children,
are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the United States
    http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0606/12/ldt.01.html

During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that
crossed our Southern Border also, as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from
Terrorist Countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroine and
marijuana, crossed into the U. S. from the Southern border. Homeland
    Security
    Report: http://tinyurl.com/t9sht

The National Policy Institute "estimated that the total cost of mass
deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion or an average cost of
between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five year period."
    http://www.nationalpolicyinstitute.org/pdf/deportation.pdf

In 2006 illegal aliens sent home $45 BILLION in remittances back to their
    countries of origin. http://www.rense.com/general75/niht.htm

So if deporting them costs between $206 and $230 BILLION DOLLARS, Start getting rid of em.' We'll be ahead after the 1st year!!!

Illegal Immigration, Tucson Unified School District and the Mexican Al Sharpton

The Mexican Al Sharpton/Jesse Jackson: Congressman Raul Grijalva (Arizona's 7th District):

When my family moved to Tucson in 1972, Tucson Unified School District was pretty respectable.

All of that changed in 1974. A brand new governing board member entered the Tucson political scene and has yet to exit stage left. He's considered far left even by Washington, DC standards. He brought in the NEA. He managed to make sweeping changes to the board policies--now, a public education in Tucson is something to be ashamed of, as it's only geared to one thing--passing the AIMS test. From K through 12, the entire concentration of studies (when not diverted into "cultural diversity" or any number of liberal "feel good" agendas) is geared toward the student passing the AIMS test so they can receive their high school diploma.

Now, this congress critter involves himself in every little Mexican cause that comes down the pike, whether it's a legitimate issue or not. Illegals are his favorite--as long as they play the downtrodden victim card. He's involved himself in the Catalina protests. When he campaigns, he forgets he has white constituents in his district and panders solely to the illegals. He is truly the Mexican version of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. If it involves illegals, you can rest assured he's there to fan the flames--whether it's a legitimate issue or not, whether he has all the facts or not. He's there, facts be damned.

Now, however, the family legacy is being perpetuated. His "jumping off" point of Tucson Unified School District now has the next generation on the governing board--his daughter Adelita. Very interesting article here from the Tucson Weekly (a reliably far left rag). However, this particular article actually makes some snarky observations such as:
Congressman Raúl Grijalva and the TUSD shadow government known as the Education Enrichment Foundation. Make no mistake: This was a McCorkle/Grijalva-engineered coup. They are in charge. Sure, it is Adelita Grijalva, Raul's daughter, who occupies the TUSD seat that daddy dearest once held for three terms, but she has no juice without him.

    [...]

Board members Judy Burns, Bruce Burke and Joel Ireland defended Paz last March when his reorganization hit the fan. Adelita Grijalva, between primping and checking her cell phone, pouted and ran to daddy for advice. McCorkle plotted.
Click the link to read more. Not even a local, far left rag is under any illusion of the Grijalva regime.

And the policies keep getting more and more biased in favor of illegals and against citizens. I don't know a whole lot about Adelita, but I can surmise the example she had growing up. Her father stays in the shadows--he didn't even get his degree (Bachelor of Arts, Sociology, University of Arizona) until 1988. His curriculum vitae can be found here in pdf format. Yet, from the shadows, and much like the snake he is, he insinuates himself into absolutely everything to do with illegals, America be damned, and does all he can to put roadblocks in the way of enforcement of border laws. He's even insinuated himself into a lawsuit--a lawsuit that's ongoing, and in which he only has one side of the story--but it involves an illegal so he's there--facts be damned.

I can only surmise--like father, like daughter. Tucson needs to shake the Grijalva legacy and MoveOn.

Lupita Sanchez: Been There, Done That--Illegal Immigration From An Immigrant's Point of View

I have posted before about my friend and colleague who is an immigrant to Arizona. She started out illegal; however, she paid her fines and did it legally. She became a legal citizen December 15, 2006. She has a son serving in the U.S. Navy, she works hard, not just a full time job, but 3-4 part time jobs as well.

She has finally reached her tipping point on the immigration issue in Tucson, the fuse finally being lit by the sob story of an illegal at Catalina High School and the student protests following the deportation of said student (who had been arrested for alleged possession of illegal substances and appearance of being under the influence of a narcotic, a 17 year old FRESHMAN--see how accommodation works, people?) and his family. They had been in Tucson illegally for six years. By the way, who employed this illegal for 6 years?

This is Lupita's (she has given me permission to reveal her name) story, written by her. If anyone can speak to point in this issue, it is her. For those who don't like what she has to say, too bad--she's ready to take y'all on. As she says, "the bigger the wave, the better the surfing."

    ********************
If I hear one more time about a high school kid and his family being targets of deportation, the way the local authorities became involved and how the local authorities handled the protests being held by students and residents, I'm going to be literally sick. No...really...I will get up and go and throw up.

Since yesterday [November 7, 2007], when the story broke and I heard it on our local TV network, KGUN9, I have only heard--once--why this kid and his family were "targeted" for
    deportation.

KGUN9 broke the story saying that a local high school student from Catalina High School had been caught with marijuana. OK, so naturally, as in any other school (I hope), the school contacted the local authorities who in turn contacted USCIS; thus their involvement in the deportation matter.

So, now I'm up early in the morning and again, all I'm hearing about is this student and family being deported, about the people protesting and how unfair the local authorities have been in their involvement throughout this. No mention of drugs.

I've heard all about how outraged all the people protesting this deportation are. I've seen students outside the school proudly waving the Mexican flag in honor of one of the "fallen ones".

Let's see--this dumb ass gets caught, in school, with pot and now he and his whole family--who have been here illegally--are going to be deported.

Okay. For those who got lost in the "Civil Rights Movement" protests, let me break it down. HE WAS CAUGHT WITH DOPE, DRUGS, POT, ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES ON SCHOOL GROUNDS. If he were Mexican, Anglo-Saxon, African-American, Asian--who the hell cares? His ass belongs to the local authorities.

If I were this dumb shit's mom, you better believe I'd be beating the pure crap out of him right now for getting the whole family deported. But we seem to have lost track of that.

Here is what I know and yes, THIS IS FOR ALL YOU DO-GOOD LIBERALS OUT THERE:
It is against the law to cross our borders illegally! It is against the law to carry illegal substances! It is against the law to consume illegal substances!
Now here is what I think:
Don't think for one minute by turning illegal aliens into victims you are making things better for them. You are only helping ignorance grow. You are the cause of the Spanish speaking immigrants becoming pussies and you are only making us the targets of further hate.

You extremists, who have nothing better to do but raise your arm of justice to defend the helpless, are turning these proud, hard working people into wimps. You are single-handedly destroying thousands of years of culture and generations of people full of pride and honor and are now raising a new breed of puppets who have become nothing but victims of society.

You want to do some good? You want to make this great American country better? Why do you lobby in favor of those of us here, living in it? Here's something you can help change: Child Support enforcement and stronger laws against dead beat parents! How's that for a challenge?

You want to make a difference in the world by helping those on the outside of your own home first? How ridiculously dysfunctional.
As I understood it, Democracy stood for Righteousness, for the right to live free from oppression and tyranny, for the right to work hard and be respected, for the right to speak and be heard and for the right to fight to make a better life for yourself, among other things.

People migrating to this country hundreds of years ago did not do so because they heard they could get free health care and free welfare, even if you weren't a citizen of this country. Those newly arrived Americans came here with pride intact and worked hard to build a new world.

Liberals like those fighting for this kid's "civil rights" are slowly destroying all the pillars that built this great country into what it is today. [Emphasis mine]

Let's not lose focus here. Democracy does not stand for "If you f-up, you won't have to pay." There are consequences to everything and please don't believe for one minute all those illegal immigrants crossing our borders don't know about consequences. They lived under the constant arm of consequence. Consequences that make you disappear from one day to the next, simply by speaking out.

Extreme is called just that, for a reason. How sad all these people running from a world only a few can imagine, come into this one where Extreme Liberals, standing right on the border, are greeting them with great big signs reading, "Come on in. You are welcome no matter how you come in, no matter why or no matter carrying what. You will be protected, defended and you will be given--not earned--the right to become a part of our society, even when you break our laws."

Immigrants are here for the right to EARN a better life. Democracy, when proposed and executed, was not done so with the intent of stripping another human of their pride.

Democrats! What a joke! [Emphasis mine]

If you ask, "And what earns you the right to speak for all of those we protect?" I have EARNED the right by being one of them. I came here illegally but I paid my penalties when I did and I applied for residency to stay here legally. Further, I had to wait for YEARS to EARN the right to become a Citizen, and, make no mistake, I have EARNED every bit of my becoming a Citizen.

I have EARNED the right to speak out when I am working a full time job and 3-4 part time jobs at a time, only to supplement for the lack of child support I receive from my ex-husband who's sitting on his ass choosing not to pay child support.

I have EARNED the right when, instead of lobbying for putting dead beat dads like my ex-husband in jail, Liberals are out prancing around filling themselves full of shallow pride for becoming the great defenders of the undefended. [Emphasis mine]

You Democrats out there reading this, want to EARN my newly-EARNED right to vote? Help me lobby for stronger laws against dead beat parents, beginning with the state of Arizona.

    ********************
Can any of you out there say it any better than Lupita? Can any of you speak to her experience from her perspective? She knows what she's talking about because she's lived it. Walk in her shoes and see it from her point of view before you decide you're going to be a "do-gooder" out to save all those poor illegals.

When I met her, her English was flawless. I had no clue English was her second language. She credits her success--and make no mistake, the woman is a definite success and a decided "winner"--with IMMERSION NOT ACCOMMODATION.

When are all you idiot feel-good liberals going to start listening to those who know what they're talking about? The troops, the people who elected you, the people living the situations...wake up and start listening--as Sister Mary Louise used to say, shut your mouths and open your ears. You might learn something.

Since When do Students Dictate Police Policy? Or a School District Determine Who Can Go On Church Property?

If you've been anywhere near Southern Arizona this past week, you'll understand that's just what happened at a local high school. If you listen to or watch O'Reilly, you'll have heard the story. Free Republic and Lone Star Diary have the story as well.

What you see above is the school this took place at--Catalina Magnet High School, in Tucson Unified School District, Tucson, AZ.

It all started November 1, 2007 when a student was caught in possession of illegal drugs. He also appeared to be under the influence of narcotic drugs. The police were called to the school to make the arrest. It was determined during questioning the student was also an illegal. His family had been here for six years, illegally. Tucson Police Department ("TPD") called Border Patrol. The student, his brother (a junior high student) and his mother were deported. His father is being held for formal deportation proceedings.

On November 6, 2007, approximately 100 of his fellow students protested, showing up on school grounds ready to protest instead of attend classes. The protest led 5 miles to the police department headquarters downtown.

Their complaint? The presence of the police and border patrol on a school campus and the deportation of the family.

NOT the fact the juvenile allegedly had illegal drugs on his person. NOT the fact the juvenile appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic substance. NOT EVEN THE FACT THE JUVENILE WAS 17 YEARS OLD AND A FRESHMAN (how's that accommodation working out for you?).

No, they were upset because they don't feel safe in school when Border Patrol and the Police come on campus.

Now, were these little truants locked up? Of course not. Most of them had parent permission slips "excusing" their absences that day. MY parents would have beat my ass and I wouldn't have been able to sit down for a month.

So what happened? The Superintendent of Tucson Unified School District ("TUSD"), Roger Pfeuffer, "met with the students" to "talk over" their concerns and then met with the higher ups at TPD.

    From the Tucson Citizen:

In Arizona, public school districts are forbidden by law to deny an education to any school-age child living here, Tucson Unified School District officials said.

The district's stance on the issue was clear: "We don't want immigration laws enforced on our campuses," said TUSD Superintendent Roger Pfeuffer. [Emphasis mine]

    [...]

Pfeuffer said Villaseñor came out to speak with students after their meeting and pointed out that police never would have called the Border Patrol if police hadn't been called to the school for criminal activity. [Empnasis mine]

Villaseñor said police have to ask the question of citizenship when they are taking someone into custody.

Community activist Isabel Garcia questioned that action. And, she added, "You should not have called Border Patrol onto campus."

Villaseñor said Tuesday afternoon that TPD would no longer call the Border Patrol to churches or schools, although it will cooperate with the Border Patrol. [Emphasis mine]

My question? What on earth did a school protest have to do with TPD changing its policy to include CHURCHES? No one is touching that question.

    Students reactions were typical:

Araceli Sanchez (14, 9th grader): "... conceded the arrested 17-year-old student and his family were in the United States illegally, "but, he was just another student."

Jorge Guerrero (18, senior): "How can we learn if we've scared the Border Patrol is going to come for us."

Mario Portillo (16, junior; identified by students as co-organizer of protest): "No matter if you're an illegal alien, you have the right to an education."

Notice anything about those kids? Not one white surname among them. Not one. A concession the snowball started with the possession of illegal substances, but it was turned around into a sob story for illegals. A police department changing policy, now stating publicly they will NOT DO THE JOB THEY ARE PAID TO DO BY THE LEGAL TAXPAYERS OF TUCSON so the "kids will feel safe". The school district tying the hands of the police and border patrol from doing their jobs--much like congress ties the hands of our military in combat. And the school district now somehow dictating policy regarding churches.

A local radio station in Tucson has organized a counter protest as stated above. Tucson is a powder keg because of this and the taxpaying citizens are saying ENOUGH to the activists. YOUR VOICES HAVE BEEN HEARD AND IT'S OUR TURN. AND WE'VE HAD IT.

This was the blurb from O'Reilly:
After marijuana was found in his backpack, a 17-year-old Tucson student was reported to police, who discovered that the young man and his family were here illegally. The family was deported to Mexico, setting off a protest by other students and school officials. The Factor welcomed Arizona Republic columnist Joe Garcia, who accused immigration officials of overzealousness. "Does the punishment fit the crime? In this case, I don't think it does. Even his brother was yanked out of middle school and deported. There has to be some compassion and humanity and logic." But The Factor endorsed the deportation. "Any illegal immigrant who commits a crime has to go, which is why I have no sympathy for the boy and his family. They shouldn't be here in the first place."
This has nothing to do with being a "hater" or a "bigot" or a "racist". This has everything to do with enforcing the laws on the books. This has to do with the minority, an illegal minority at that, dictating police policy. This has to do with a bunch of snot nosed kids telling the police what they can and can't do. This has to do with a power hungry school district refusing to cooperate with authorities. And the people have said--ENOUGH.

Jon Justice is the radio personality bringing this story to the public's attention. Go to the website at 104.1 The Truth for more details. You can email Jon from the site and you can go to the lower left hand corner of the site to view the newscasts. Only one local news station, ABC affiliate KGUN9, covered the story.

    This is from Jon's page:

    Friday Morning 11/09 9am

A Rally to Support Enforcement of Illegal Immigration Laws.

Military Plaza 6th Ave S. in Downtown Tucson

The people of Tucson who oppose the addition of a policy that states TPD cannot call immigration authorities to schools or churches (TUSD Policy 2119) are getting together Friday morning to show support that they want this policy removed. They also want confirmation that TPD will call immigration authorities whenever an arrest is made of an illegal immigrant, regardless of location. During the rally they will march to TPD.

If you cannot make the rally or want to join the caravan to Military Plaza, listeners to 104.1 The Truth are welcome to come to the radio station 3438 N. Country Club Rd. Tucson, AZ 85716 starting at 6am to sign a petition that will be given to TPD. This petition asks that the policy above put in place Tuesday Nov 6th by TUSD and TPD be removed.TPD needs to be allowed to enforce immigration laws and contact immigration officials in any circumstance.

BREAKING NEWS: TPD responded to a call from Rincon High School Wednesday morning over a student caught with Marijuana. The student is an ILLEGAL ALIEN. In accordance with the new policy change immigration authorities WERE NOT CALLED. He was booked into juvenile detention. Proof that our laws are not being enforced and TUSD has tied the hands of TPD.
