John Edwards: Showing our Military How Much He Hates Them

[Below you will find contact information for a variety of places to let your voice be heard]

Following up on Saturdays Cross Post from Lew over at Right in a Left World, we see some reactions from our military veterans in response to Edwards disgusting act of calling for a war protest on the one day set aside to honor our military, Memorial Day.

A day meant to honor our fallen soldiers and John Edwards in an act of utter disrespect to our troops encourages, in fact, calls for.. a war protest.

Memorial Day is much more than a three-day weekend that marks the beginning of summer. To many people, especially the nation's thousands of combat veterans, this day, which has a history stretching back all the way to the Civil War, is an important reminder of those who died in the service of their country.

We first heard about this disgusting site that John Edwards set up at The Victory Caucus Forums, where Lew posted about it and we were all encouraged to either write about it or cross post Lews, which we did.

Bob from Gathering of Eagles noticed it and added it as a topic to the GOE Forums.

Needless to say, our Veterans got highly pissed off, with very good reason. Just read the forums and my own comment section from the last post to see exactly how pissed off they got.

Bob started sending this around to everyone:

"First of all, thanks for the links Spree and Snooper.

I just forwarded Edwards' web site to HotAir, Michelle Malkin, and the Illinois Review. I hope they do something with it.

By the way, this may be another situation where we want to contact our local newspaper."

I will go at this again by contacting TV and radio stations.
Bob

Then his next comment:

I am so not done with this. I just sent an email to Bill O' and John Gibson at Fox. Hope they do something with it.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Dear John and Bill,

I am sure you are aware, by now, that John Edwards is asking his supporters to protest the war at Memorial Day Parades.

As a Veteran, I am disgusted. Memorial Day is a day that we honor our fallen heros who gave their lives to defend this great nation of ours. It is hard for me to concieve that Edwards is so Anti-American that he can not, for one day, Memorial Day, decide to do something that is honorable.

From his "10 Things You Can Do Over Memorial Weekend to Support the Troops and End the War" posted on his web page.

“Get vocal. Buy a bunch of poster-board and markers. At a picnic or with family and friends, make signs that say “SUPPORT THE TROOPS - END THE WAR.” Bring them to your local Memorial Day parade. Then take a digital photo of yourself and your family or friends holding up the poster and tell us about it. We’ll include it in a “Democracy Photo Album” on our site.”

The link to his web page http://www.supportthetroopsendthewar.com/

I am not sure how you "END THE WAR" short of Victory or Defeat. It just amazes me that the Democrats want defeat while the troops who are the front line, our young men and women, want victory. Re-enlistments are well over the military goals. I think the troops have a better view of the world than many of our elected officials.

If Edwards, Pelosi, Murtha, Kerry, Reid, etc. really want to do something good for this country, they should resign.
Hot Air picked it up. (Make sure to read their comment section also)

Black Five has some choice words about John Edwards, all of them richly deserved.

Oh that's special John, we as a nation set aside one day to recognize the ultimate sacrifice made by so many better men than you, and you feel free to push them aside so you can grab some spotlight. You miserable empty suit, you pathetic, girly man, you lying, cheating, petty, little narcissist. And don't tell me to stop calling him names, he has earned a grand total of zero respect for anything he has done and earned trainloads of disgust for his shameful, disrespectful actions. If you want reasoned commentary check in with George Will, I'm Uncle Jimbo and I serve up the beatdowns.

NewsBusters is also discussing this and and shows us that Wahington Post is not only encouraging this but has also promoted and helped advertise for John Edwards with this latest piece of trash (and the liberal papers wonder why they are losing money and advertisers?)

Wizbang is also all over this.

Now we are caught up, but we are not done by a long shot.

The writer of the Wapo piece of garbage is Anne E. Kornblut and here is her email contact form, so we can let her know what we think of her promoting this type of dishonor and disrespect to our fallen heroes.

A few reactions from the GOE forums.

TJHMOM:

Here's my reply to Edwards, emailed seconds ago.

As a patriot, the mother of an active duty Marine, the sister and wife of two men who proudly served in the Air Force during the Viet Nam Era, and the daughter of a WWII Navy Veteran, I am appalled at your suggestion to protest the war on Memorial Day. You claim to support the troops, yet you choose the very day set aside to honor those who have died in service of their country, to encourage people to negate the meaning behind those who gave all in Iraq. Your actions attempt to dishonor our fallen and those currently serving. If you really want to support our troops, campaign for them so they get the funding needed to complete the job. We demand victory! Please lay aside your political ambitions and do what is best for this country.

seo3:

Here is what I sent him:
Quote:
You are pathetic. Memorial Day is to honor our veterans - not a political opportunity. You dishonor all those who have made the supreme sacrifice by turning this solemn day into a political referendum. You should be ashamed......

Everything is 100% politics with these folks. Nothing is more important, eh? Certainly not national security! How utterly revolting and disgusting!

Blue Star Rider:

Doubt you can see the smoke coming from my ears here in California - what a sacrilegious and appalling move on the part of this jacka$$. I'm off to vent a little steam on Edwards.

Thanks for the heads up.

Snooper:

Your feigned patriotism is criminally laughable. I am a “troop” and I find your ridiculous attempt to link true patriotic organizations to yours is indicative of a deep psychological malaise.

Please remove your links. You won’t find ANY of them supporting the troops by protesting the war protecting YOU on Memorial Day, a day to celebrate those fallen in the name of Freedom and That Which Is Right.

Your using or misusing the term Do The Right Thing is an insult to a True Patriot’s web site: http://dotherightthing.townhall.com/

We True Patriots have contacted the web sites you have linked to and the fireball has begun.

edwards…you are out of touch with the American people. Your political party has the lowest approval rating in history and you vaunted majority is the lamest duck CONgress in history. Hang your head in shame as you cost more lives and further embolden the enemy.

God Bless America

This was my comment to the Breck Boy:

Congratulations on your idea to turn a holiday tributing our veterans and military into a day of protest. Only the sickest, most vile of minds and cowardly of hearts could have come up with such a disgusting concept. God help me you'll not win an election if it comes to THIS veteran voting for you. Go have yourself a nice little spa day, you don't have the intestinal fortitude to run this country.

To whom do they swear their allegiance? My guess would be Marx...

It still goes on, so stop by and read the letters that are being sent to John Edwards from our veterans.

We are not done with Edwards by a long shot.

Snooper has contacted the local Conservative Talkies on WBAP with this data and Bob has this to say:

This just went out to the below newspapers. LOL, I used the newspaper link provided by the DNC

http://www.democrats.org/page/speakout/OutOfTouch

To Chicago Sun-Times, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Daily Herald, Daily Southtown, Herald-News, Beacon News, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, The Journal Times, Northwest Herald, Courier-News, News-Sun

Subject Politics and Memorial Day
Message Can the politics stop long enough to honor our nations heros? Not in the case of John Edwards.

The below is just a small part from his site http://www.supportthetroopsendthewar.com/

"Get vocal. We’ll include it in a “Democracy Photo Album” on our site."

This is a day to honor our nation's heros. Is John Edwards so Anti-American that he can not stop for one day - Memorial Day?

Keep the pressure up folks, if everyone cannot take one day and do nothing but honor our fallen heroes on a day that has been set aside for this purpose since the Civil War, then what kind of country are we?

Count on the fact that there will be more to come about this.
