Political Science 101 anyone

Much is being written these days about Obama. No, I am not referring to the sycophants in the msm who have swallowed his empty rhetoric hook, line and sinker. I mean the stuff written by Americans who have a brain, and who use it to question, think for themselves. I found an interesting - FACT filled piece - which should be read far and wide before America goes like lemmings over the cliff.

Obama For Sale

Obama announced he would become the first major party candidate to forgo public financing ....we all know this. It means he will garner funding from "private" donors.

Who are the "private donors?"

Obama raised $22 million in May for his presidential campaign, his weakest fundraising month this year, and ended the month with $43 million cash on hand....interesting.

Hillary Clinton's loyal donors have already contributed the maximum to her campaign, so she needs some new sources of money to settle her debts. That's where Obama comes in _ his donors help her out, her donors help him. Suspicious.

People have forgotten that Obama has Oprah in his back pocket for a funding source.

Who else does Obama have?

Who are the "private donors?"

Are the "books" cooked?

Can the public see where the money train ends in the private sectors? We can see the PUBLIC records--the link is below. What about the private records?

Hypothetically, is it possible that since Obama is so well loved in places like Hamas, Iran, Cuba, ORGANIZATION OF THE PEOPLE'S HOLY WARRIORS OF IRAN, NATIONAL COUNCIL OF RESISTANCE (NCR), PEOPLE'S MUJAHEDDIN ORGANIZATION, Islamic radicals, Yousef al-Khattab.....that a large portion of his "private funding" have end-roads with these groups?

I say again, OBAMA FOR SALE.

OBAMA FOR SALE----To the best donors, with the deepest pockets and best script writers....

You think that this kind of information might have to do with WHY Senator Obama flip flopped from his original position of supporting public funding for campaigns, to now private funding? I guess I, too, would go for private funding if I had such money backers. And yes, there are names in this piece. The rest can be found at Poison Pen here. Go, read, and be educated.

An Open Letter To Jack “Cold-Blooded” Murtha

By Online Tuesday, July 1, 2008

From: warofwits.org
Congressman Murtha,

Were I you sir, I would hang my head in shame and pray to my Creator, begging His forgiveness for the pain that I’ve caused innocent people. And then I would perform some serious personal introspection to see what I could possibly do to begin the process of restitution for my crimes.

But you won’t because you have no shame.

As a member of the House of Representatives, you took a solemn oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. Despite what you may believe personally, taking that oath also means upholding the constitutional rights of the ever-expanding list of US Marines and other service-members who are unfortunate enough to have their tactical battlefield decisions dissected and judged by people in the comfort of air-conditioned facilities thousands of miles away.

You appeared on national television, looked the American people in the eye and told us that you had it on good authority that four Marines committed murder and four others covered it up.

It is you who murdered the truth in cold blood. You lied and you’re covering it up....

You’ve brought incalculable anguish upon the parents, spouses, siblings and children of eight innocent men based on nothing more than enemy propaganda planted by a Sunni agent of al Qaeda. And while you were busy trying to kill the rest of our military in Iraq; starving them of food and ammunition by tying up war funding with a morass of beaurocracy; people like me were busy listening to the anguished father of a Marine as he poured his heart out over the injustice perpetrated against his son. People like me were busy listening to the pleas of patriots such as Dave Wuterich, Andrew Grayson and Darryl Sharrratt, as they simply asked America not to prejudge these cases. But I found myself in a very tiny minority and it was due –in large part– to your public pronunciation of murder in cold blood, the stain of which your hands shall never be cleansed of....

That piece is written by Jayme Evans, U.S.N(Ret.), and he has much more to say about Murtha.
He adds an eloquent voice of condemnation to the chorus calling Murtha on his actions. You really should read the rest on Canada Free Press here.

In my opinion, it is the DUTY of every American voter to inform themselves on the issues, and their political hacks (mmmm, I mean 'representatives' of course.lol). The future of America is far too important to have not only an abysmal voter turnout at the polls, but to have that electorate make uninformed choices. Class is ended - for now!

In a Nutshell

For all the loons who think Weasel Clark is just soooooooo cool in his disrespect of a former POW, who think it's the correct thing to do to belittle someone for having been a POW, here's a little something to put it in perspective:

While Clark was busy kissing politicians asses, McCain was locked up and tortured. Clark isn't fit to wipe the dust from McCain's shoes. If you don't like it, too damn bad.

I personally will not tolerate the belittling of someone, the purposeful smearing of someone by the Obama camp, someone who gave a lot more to this country and for this country, someone who KNEW what he was in for and the fact he may not survive it, someone who CHOSE to stay in that horrendous situation rather than sell out his fellow prisoners than either Clark or Obama ever thought about in their smug, self righteous, elitist, self centered lives.

Why I Support John McCain

HT to Snooper at ANewtOne for this gem. Also cross posted at Do The Right Thing.

Commentary by Dennis Prager at World Net Daily, July 01, 2008

Last week, a conservative magazine reported that I would not vote for John McCain for president. The magazine based its claim on a column I had written in May 2007 about why I could not support John McCain for the Republican presidential nomination.
The magazine was wrong. Though I did not support Sen. McCain in the Republican primaries, the moment he became the presumptive Republican candidate I endorsed him wholeheartedly for president of the United States.

Having not been a supporter from the outset, perhaps my endorsement of John McCain will carry more weight among conservatives who are still undecided about whether to vote for John McCain.

My bottom line is this: The gulf between John McCain and conservatives is miniscule compared to the gulf between John McCain and Barack Obama.

This is true regarding virtually every issue of significance to America. The America that a President Barack Obama would shape, with the help of a Democratic Congress and a liberal Supreme Court, would be very dissimilar from the America shaped by a President John McCain.

Conservatives who will not vote for McCain are well-intentioned utopians. They are comparing McCain to a consistently conservative candidate. The reality, however, is that McCain is not running against a consistently conservative candidate. He is running against a consistently left-wing candidate. And America cannot afford to have its first leftist president ever. It can afford liberal presidents – such as Bill Clinton, or Jimmy Carter (who governed as a liberal but became a leftist after leaving the White House), or John F. Kennedy, or Lyndon Johnson, or Harry Truman – i.e., all the Democrats who have been president since World War II. But the Democratic Party has moved well to the left of liberalism. And Barack Obama is at the left of that left-wing party.

Furthermore, given the strong possibility of a Democratic House, a Democratic Senate and a liberal Supreme Court for decades to come, given the number of Supreme Court appointments a Democratic president will be able to make, an Obama victory will move America more radically leftward than ever in its history.

That is why the argument that an Obama administration will be so destructive that Americans will reject the left and then elect a real conservative to undo the damage done in an Obama presidency is deeply flawed.

First of all, other than impeachment, there is no way to undo Supreme Court appointments, two or three of which a President Obama would likely make. And given how active most liberal judges are, it won't matter much if the country has some conservative epiphany and then elects a Republican president and Congress. Because even if the Congress and the president will not pass liberal legislation, a liberal Supreme Court will. On almost any social issue that matters – the right to bear arms, late-term abortion, the definition of marriage, capital punishment and many others – a liberal Supreme Court will rule on these issues, and there will be nothing that a post-Obama Republican president, even with a Republican Congress, will be able to do about them.

Moreover, the argument that Americans will have a conservative epiphany after four years of an Obama presidency is predicated on America being greatly damaged by his policies. What kind of mindset welcomes such damage to the country it loves for the sake of potentially gaining politically after the damage is done? Is it, for example, really worth a considerably weakened economy (which Barack Obama's tax and other economic policies would likely lead to), with its widespread suffering and unforeseeable social and political consequences, just to – hopefully – get a conservative into the White House four or eight years later?

And the damage won't necessarily be undone. Even Ronald Reagan, the most popular conservative to ever serve as president, could not roll back most liberal creations. He never could get rid of the useless Department of Education, for example. Nor could a then-popular President George W. Bush do a thing about Social Security even when he had a Republican House and Senate.

And how will Barack Obama's successor undo the damage done to Iraq, the Middle East, the war on Islamic terror and the credibility of America's assurances to allies once Iraq slides into chaos as a result of America's precipitous withdrawal?

Therefore, as well-meaning and sincere as many conservatives are, this mode of thinking – let the country suffer under a left-wing president, Congress and Supreme Court and then it will come to its conservative senses – will likely lead to a downward spiral from which it is hard to see the country escaping for a generation, if it is lucky.

There is one person who can prevent this unhappy future – John McCain.

He will not raise taxes, the last thing we should be doing in a weakened economy.

He will reduce government spending, and thereby prevent the state from controlling even more of American life.

He will ensure that America wins in Iraq. That will make one of the biggest and richest Arab states the freest of the Arab states. And it will hand Islamic terrorists the biggest defeat they have ever suffered. It will teach potential enemies not to attack America (whether Iraq did so directly is irrelevant to the point). And it will reassure America's allies around the world, many of whom, as in Iraq, risk their lives for America and liberty, that America will never abandon them.

He will appoint conservatives to the Supreme Court and to federal benches, thereby depriving the left of its most powerful weapon in reshaping America in its image.

He may attract enough Hispanic votes (while securing the borders) to prevent that critical constituency from identifying with the Democratic Party, something that would ensure left-wing victories for decades to come.

He will develop nuclear power, environmentalist (read leftist) opposition to which has been morally indefensible. We would all love to have a solar-powered or wind-powered country.

However, on planet earth at this time, nuclear power may be the cleanest source of energy we have. That is why France, not heretofore known as politically conservative, relies on nuclear power for nearly 80 percent of its electricity.

However noble their intentions, conservatives who do not vote for John McCain will be morally complicit in what happens to America during an Obama presidency.

Oh Canada - Vigilamus pro te

Today is Canada's 141st birthday. Don't we look good? lol.. Today, on this Canada Day, I am thinking even more than usual about our military. As everybody must know, we have troops in Afghanistan and in other hot spots. As we here in Canada celebrate our freedoms, be it with bbq's and fireworks, our men and women are serving our country, and facing dangers so that we don't have to.

I am blessed to know a number of Canadian soldiers and veterans, and have made it a point to write about them and their mission quite a few times here on Tanker Bros. At the end of last year, I named General Rick Hillier one of my Heroes of the year, alongside US General David Petraeus. In case you missed that one (gasp! lol) you can read it here. I also wrote about General Hillier when he resigned as Chief of Defence Staff here.

General R.J. Hillier, C.M.M., M.S.C., C.D

Chief of the Defence Staff

General R.J. Hillier, CMM, CD

Today is General Hillier's last day on the job as our Chief of Defence Staff. He is set to take over as the Chancellor of Memorial University in Newfoundland. He has served our military and our country well, and all Canadians owe him a great deal of gratitude for his service. I wish only great things for him and his family in the future.

Lt.-Gen. Walt Natynczyk is one of the top candidates to replace outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Rick Hillier.
Lt.-Gen. Walt Natynczyk
Matthew Fisher/Canwest News Service

Lt. General Walt Natynczyk is the man who takes over as Chief of Defence Staff. He is no slouch:

Lt.-Gen. Natynczyk has the experience; he is one of the few Canadian soldiers to have served in Iraq. He also shares Gen. Hillier's ability to communicate; as a colonel, Lt.-Gen. Natynczyk was given the job in 1999 as the chief Canadian Forces spokesman for the NATO-led air war in Kosovo....

Lt.-Gen. Natynczyk is a veteran of numerous peacekeeping stints in the Balkans in the 1990s, including as a commander, but he also distinguished himself by serving as a deputy commander of the U.S. army's III Corps at Fort Hood, Texas, part of a unique exchange program with the United States.

Gen. Hillier and Lt.-Gen. Natynczyk are among only three Canadian officers to take part in that exchange program, and the experience allowed both to hold a senior position on the largest U.S. military base, which at 60,000 strong, is roughly the size of the entire Canadian Armed Forces.

In 2004, Lt.-Gen. Natynczyk was also deployed to Iraq for one year following the U.S.-led invasion and served as the deputy commander of the Multinational Corps there. "Even though I am a contingent of one, I am able to attend some senior forums and proudly show the flag," Lt.-Gen. Natynczyk wrote in one dispatch back to Hillier, reflecting on the fact that he was taking part in a military mission that his county had refused to support.

In his current post, Lt.-Gen. Natynczyk has been charged with implementing the Forces ambitious restructuring plans, the so-called "transformation" that Gen. Hillier began....[here]

Lt. Gen. Natynczyk has already served our country well, and I am sure he will continue to be an ardent advocate for our military in his new role.

So yes, there are changes today, but also one major constant. As we here at home celebrate our nation's birthday, we would do well to be mindful of the men and women throughout our history who have stood on guard for us. Another constant, for me, is that I will always honour our troops who ensure we have a free country. I stand on guard - with gratitude, WITH all our troops.

HAPPY CANADA DAY!

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

(and yes, go here for more on the history of our national anthem)
