Mahdi, Mahdi, whose got the Mahdi?

In a speech on November 16th, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spoke of his belief in the return of the Twelfth Imam. One of the differences between Sunni and Shiite Islam is that the latter, who dominate Iran and form the majority in Iraq, believe that Allah shielded or hid Muhammad al-Mahdi as the Twelfth Imam until the end of time. Shiites expect the Twelfth Imam, which Jews and Christians would recognize as a messianic figure, to return to save the world when it had descended into chaos.

This then is the nature of the enemy we face. This is the basis of their belief system. The inevitable and apocalyptic Return of the Mahdi. This is the mindset of the world class leader whom our new liberal government expects to sit down and negotiate with. A soon-to-be nuclear armed nation waiting for the end of time and the promised reappearance of the Mahdi.
It is, however, important to remember that there have been several such divinely-inspired Mahdis throughout the violent history of Islam. Here are some of them.

Eighth century
Salih ibn Tarif
Ninth century
Muhammad ibn Hasan ibn Ali
Tenth century
Said ibn Husayn
Twelfth century
Muhammad ibn Abdallah ibn Tumart
Fifteenth century
Syed Muhammad Jaunpuri
Nineteenth century
1 Siyyid 'Alí-Muhammad (the Báb)
2 Muhammad Ahmad
*
3 Mirza Ghulam Ahmad
Twentieth century
1 Sayyid Mohammed Abdullah Hassan
2 Juhayman ibn-Muhammad ibn-Sayf al-Otaibi

Till now, the most famous of these occulutions was perhaps Muhammad Ahmad, the "Khartoum Mahdi".

Muhammad Ahmad ibn (August 12, 1844 – June 22, 1885) was a religious leader, in Sudan, who proclaimed himself the Mahdi — the prophesied redeemer of Islam who will appear at end times. Under his religious authority the divided clans...into an alliance dedicated [surprise, surprise] to establishing an "Islamic" state as the first step in a universal Islamic state. In 1881, he declared a jihad against the British-backed Egyptian authority in Sudan. Ahmad raised an army and led a successful religious war to topple the Egyptian occupation of Sudan. His most successful and final battle was the siege of Khartoum in Sudan, an effort to totally obliterate Egyptian (and Sudanese) resistance. The only thing that stood in his way was the legendary British General Charles "Chinese" Gordon.

In 1873, General Charles Gordon had been appointed Governor of the Equatorial Provinces of Sudan. For the next three years, General Gordon fought against a native chieftain of Darfur, Zobeir, who had erected, on the basis of slave-traffic, a dangerous military power. Zobeir's organisation was eventually dismantled. Although unsuccessful at total pacification, Gordon was successful in limiting the power of the slave traders. Thus, he was made Governor-General of the Sudan in 1877. Soon after he arrived at his new post he started to end the slave trade, which at that point dominated the economy and was controlled by the tiny minority of Arabs. Before his arrival some 7 out of 8 blacks in the Sudan were enslaved by the tiny minority of Arabs; the native Africans formed well over 80% of the overall population. Gordon's policies were effective, but the effects on the economy were disastrous, and soon the Arab Social Ascendancy came to see this not a liberation from slavery, but a modern-day European Christian crusade and a threat to Muslim and Arab social dominance.

The Siege of Khartoum lasted from March 12, 1884 to January 26, 1885. Khartoum was besieged by the Mahdists and defended by a garrison of 7,000 Egyptian and loyal Sudanese troops. After a ten-month siege, the Mahdists finally broke into the city and the entire garrison was slaughtered.

What lessons can we learn from all this? What insight into our present circumstances can this look back in time afford us? Can we perhaps begin to understand the real nature of this so-called War on Terror we are presently engaged in?

What was the single biggest grievance that the Arab world had against the West in the Nineteenth Century? The West -- in the person of General Charles "Chinese" Gordon -- had the temerity, the arrogance, to interfere with, and eventually bring to an end, the lucrative slave trade in Sudanese blacks which had been the very foundation of their economy. This Christian Crusade against slavery was the unforgivable affront against the Arab world, the spark that lit the Jihadist flame.

Thus, long before the hegemony of oil, long before the birth of George W. Bush, long before the dark machinations of Dick Cheney's fearsome Blackwater crusaders, the stage was set for battle. The inevitable clash between the dark, backward-looking vision of Islam and the enlightened West began with the birth of the Prophet. This great battle is indeed a classic Clash of Civilizations, civilizations which are diametrically opposed to one another, which cannot, by their very nature, co-exist in peace. All of the calls from our newly-sanctified left for love not hate, all of the diplomatic missions, all of the ecumenical conferences in the world will not ameliorate the danger of the crisis we face. Today, just as it was in 1881, Islam is "dedicated to establishing an "Islamic" state as the first step in a universal Islamic state." To refuse to accept this historical truth, to attempt to avoid the moral implications of these fundamental and unchanging Islamic precepts, to somehow justify our political or military inaction by convincing ourselves that we are the cause of this monumental schism, that it is we who have to change, is to completely misunderstand the significance of this existential threat.

Today, January 20, 2009, the world is cheering, it is cheering because those who embrace this disastrous geopolitical misconception have legally assumed the reins of power. Where will their fatally flawed delusions take us? Will we be able to survive their willful ignorance?

God bless America. - rg

Ayers The Guy Nobody Wants

Cross posted by Findalis of Monkey in the Middle

Bill Ayers, noted educator, friend of Barack Obama, and unrepentant terrorist, was politely told you're not welcome here by of all places: Canada.
William Ayers, the 1960s radical whose ties to President-elect Barack Obama caused trouble for his campaign, was turned away from Canada Sunday night as he tried to enter the country for a series of educational events.

Jeffrey Kugler, the executive director for the Center for Urban Schooling at the University of Toronto, said Ayers was deemed not admissible after being pulled aside by Canadian immigration officials while trying to clear customs at the Toronto airport.

Ayers had been invited to speak before the center. He was also scheduled to meet with the Toronto District School Board and do interviews with Canadian television and radio stations, Kugler said.

Kugler said the center sent e-mails notifying guests who planned to attend Ayers' talk that he had been turned back. Kugler said the center will try to reschedule Ayers.

Ayers, a co-founder of the violent Weather Underground group and current education professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, told the Toronto Star that he didn't know why he had been turned away.

According to Kugler, Ayers was told he could request a hearing but that would mean some sort of detention and a possible two week wait. Ayers opted to return to Chicago.
That is the second time in a week that Canada has done the right thing. What ever Canadians are doing keep it up. You should be very proud of yourselves and your nation. A great pat on the back is in order.

Its Shari'ah, Stupid #15

This is number fifteen in a series on offensive Jihad in Fiqh. [ Emphasis added for clarity. ]
Fadl-Ullah bin Ruzbihan Isfahani, d. 1521, shafi’i. Suluk ul-Muluk (övers. Muslim Conduct of State, Lahore 1974)
A brief account of the duties which are obligatory on the Imam and the Sultan with regard to (their offices of) the Imamate and the Sultanate. (s. 61)
His sixth duty is to fight with those who opposed Islam. But before taking such action he should invite them to surrender and if they refuse then fight with them until they surrender or are obliged to compromise. (s. 62)
You must be aware, that the literal meaning of Jihad is ”to strive” or ”to endeavour according to one’s ability and strength.” But in the religious sense it means ”to strive in war against the non-believers according to one’s ability and strength.” (s. 455)
You must be aware, that Jihad against the non-believers is an obligation. As regards the Hanafite opinion it has been cited in the Hidaya that Jihad is a duty in general on all the Muslim community. If a group of Muslims observe this duty the rest of them are exempt from it; and if none of them observe it the whole community commits a sin for their negligence. Whenever there is a general call for Jihad it will become a duty for all. A general call may be put in this way; that, on account of the strength of the non-believers, an Imam calls all the Muslims to arms so that they may drive the non-believers out of the land of Islam. The fight against the non-believers is an obligation even if they do not commence fighting. But the Jihad is not lawful against children, slaves, women, the blind, the crippled and he who has not come to the battle-field.
If enemies invade one of the lands of Islam, the Jihad will become an obligation to all Muslims for their self-defence. (s. 462)
As regards the Shafi’ite laws of Jihad, it has been cited in the Anwar that during the lifetime of the Prophet, the Jihad was an obligation in general on all the Muslim community. In our days there are two kinds of Jihad as it is an obligation on each and every Muslim and at the same time an obligation in general on all the community.
Whenever the non-believers invade one of the lands of Islam or besiege one of our towns with the intention of its conquest, it is the duty of the inhabitants of that town to repel the invaders at any cost. (s. 463)
The second kind of Jihad is an obligation in general on all the Muslim community. For example, if the non-believers who are well-established in their own country intend to fight against the Muslims, and they refuse to check them, the whole community commits a sin. But if some of the Muslims, whose strength is sufficient to repel the enemy, come forward, the rest of the Muslims will be exempted from Jihad. The sufficiency is achieved by two means. Firstly, the Imam should block the incursion of the non-believers by appointing a group of the soldiers well enought to face the non-believers on the opposite side. Moreover, he should build forts, dig trenches and take similar other steps. […] Secondly, the Imam himself should lead incursions into the Dar-ul-Harb or send someone capable of carrying out this business. The minimum number of incursions in a year is one. It is not permissible to abandon Jihad and let a year pass without an incursion except, God forbid, for the reason of weakness in the Muslims, the large number of the enemies and finally the lack of fodder for the horses on the way. (s. 464-5)
It has been cited in the Hidaya that whenever the Muslims invade a Dar-ul-Harb and besiege a town or fort they should first of all invite the besieged to embrace Islam. If they accept Islam the Muslims should give up fighting. If they refuse to accept Islam they should be asked to pay the Jizya, but this choice is only for those non-believers on whom the Jizya may be imposed. The Jizya should not be imposed on the apostates and Arab idolators. There is no need for collecting Jizya from them. (s. 466)
When [Muhammed] used to despatch an expedition, he used to advise the commander that before starting to fight he should lay a choice before the non-believers, either to accept Islam or leave that place. If they refused to accept Islam, they should be asked to pay the Jizya. If they refused all these terms, seek help from God the Excellent and start fighting. (s. 474)

This damnable dedication to eternal warfare makes Islam intolerable. The world must be rid of it!

The minimum number of incursions in a year is one. It is not permissible to abandon Jihad and let a year pass without an incursion except, God forbid, for the reason of weakness in the Muslims, the large number of the enemies and finally the lack of fodder for the horses on the way.

Bring Out Your Dead

Cross posted by Findalis of Monkey in the Middle
It is said that whatever you do will eventually catch up to you. Some call this Karma, others fate. What ever you call it, for good or evil, it will bite you on the butt. Just as it has done to members of AQLIM (al-Qaeda in the Land of the Islamic Maghreb).
At least 40 al-Qaeda fanatics died horribly after being struck down with the disease that devastated Europe in the Middle Ages.

The killer bug, also known as the plague, swept through insurgents training at a forest camp in Algeria, North Africa. It came to light when security forces found a body by a roadside.

The victim was a terrorist in AQLIM (al-Qaeda in the Land of the Islamic Maghreb), the largest and most powerful al-Qaeda group outside the Middle East.

It trains Muslim fighters to kill British and US troops.

Now al-Qaeda chiefs fear the plague has been passed to other terror cells — or Taliban fighters in Afghanistan.

One security source said: “This is the deadliest weapon yet in the war against terror. Most of the terrorists do not have the basic medical supplies needed to treat the disease.

“It spreads quickly and kills within hours. This will be really worrying al-Qaeda.”

Black Death comes in various forms.

Bubonic Plague is spread by bites from infected rat fleas. Symptoms include boils in the groin, neck and armpits. In Pneumonic Plague, airborn bacteria spread like flu.

It can be in the body for more than a week — highly contagious but not revealing tell-tale symptoms.

The al-Qaeda epidemic began in the cave hideouts of AQLIM in Tizi Ouzou province, 150km east of the capital Algiers. The group, led by wanted terror boss Abdelmalek Droudkal, was forced to turn its shelters in the Yakouren forest into mass graves and flee.

The extremists supporting madman Osama bin Laden went to Bejaia and Jijel provinces — hoping the plague did not go with them.

A source said: “The emirs (leaders) fear surviving terrorists will surrender to escape a horrible death.”

The bubonic plague is an infection of the lymphatic system, usually resulting from the bite of an infected flea. The fleas are often found on rodents, such as rats, and seek out other prey when their rodent hosts die. Once established, bacteria rapidly spread to the lymph nodes and multiply. Yersinia pestis can resist phagocytosis and even reproduce inside phagocytes and kill them. As the disease progresses, the lymph nodes can hemorrhage and become necrotic. Bubonic plague can progress to lethal septicemic plague in some cases.

The most famous symptom of bubonic plague is swollen lymph nodes, called buboes. These are commonly found in the armpits, groin or neck. The bubonic plague was the first step of the ongoing plague. Two other forms of the plague, pneumonic and septicemic, resulted after a patient with the bubonic plague developed pneumonia or blood poisoning.

Other symptoms include spots on the skin that are red at first and then turn black, heavy breathing, continuous blood vomiting, aching limbs and terrible pain. The pain is usually caused by the actual decaying, or decomposing of the skin while the infected person is still alive, when death begins the person will get spasms.

According to the World Health Organization, there are 1,000 to 3,000 cases of bubonic plague worldwide each year. There are no known cases in Australia or Europe. Areas where cases occur are in Russia, the Middle East, China, Southwest and Southeast Asia, Madagascar, southern and eastern Africa, the Andes mountains and Brazil.

Treatment is usually given as soon as symptoms appear. Streptomycin or tetracycline are the standard antibiotics given. A vaccination is available to prevent this disease.

The Taliban and al Queda both shun vaccinations as being from Satan and therefore anti-Islamic.

I expect that the Taliban and/or al Queda will be issuing statements condemning the US and claiming that the Americans are using biological weapons.

But what can you expect when you live in a cave and never bathe?

Sorry I just couldn't resist. And the set does look like an average Taliban town.

I have a dream

Today IS a day set aside to celebrate the work of Martin Luther King Jr, and I can't help but wonder what he would think of Obama. Obama is a man who screamed "racist" long and loud during his road to the White House, if anyone dared to mention that he may be black. Obama is NOT black, but now sees fit to wrap himself in the mantle of injustices done to all black men. Yes, America does have a sorry history in her treatment of blacks, but from where I sit, being black has not held back many, many blacks from achieving their highest, most noble goals. For many, their ascendancy to positions of influence - where they have made a lasting difference to their communities and their country - has been because of their own dreams, efforts, and hard work.

Never mind that many people elected Obama because of the colour of his skin, (ultimately aided and abetted by the msm, of course.) Am I the only one who finds that more than ironic? From where I sit, it is irrelevant what colour Obama's skin may be. As the resident of the White House, surely what matters the most is his dedication to his country, his ability to unite all Americans in the common goal towards maintaining the US Constitution.

In his soaring rhetoric, Obama carefully appealed to those dissatisfied Americans looking for someone else to blame for the flaws, deficiencies, in their own lives. On the most basic, obvious level, can we say "bailout"? At a time when gazillion dollars are being handed over as a reward to failed business models, and California is unable to pay to the elderly citizens of that state even the baic living needs that they paid into, Obama's inauguration is set to be the most expensive, lavish, in US history. Never mind that when President George W. Bush held his $40 million inauguruation celebrations, Obama's own party screamed "excess." Guess times have really changed, but that is not 'change' I can believe in....
