One Marine's Thoughts

This is a copy of a letter from a former Marine who served and was wounded in Vietnam. It was written shortly after September 11, 2001 and sent to me. Some of the language may seem harsh or foul, so this is fair warning-- be prepared.

I share this with you respectfully and out of honor to this man. He may still be out there somewhere and I wonder what he is thinking today. The letter is relevant even now. Some of the points brought up in his letter may be useful in our cause. At least the ideas may be another base for formulating or including in an attack plan. This letter has been floated around the internet and sent via e-mail since 9-11 so you may have seen it.

When asked about the the terrorists who hijacked planes for suicide missions and so many calling them cowards, here is his response.

Cowards....? Nope.

'Jacking a jet and driving it into a high-rise at 300 knots...no, not cowards. I wouldn't do it. They don't have an air force so they used our training and our planes, and with great execution...

Far better than our fiasco in the desert to save the hostages in Iran.

Although glued to the TV for the last 48 hours, I haven't heard any talking heads speak with anger and outrage. They act like it's "Columbine" and we have to cope with this "tragedy" with counseling before resuming our lives...

My guess is you don't hear that talk from blonde air heads on Israeli TV...'course they have Uzis in their briefcases...they are a nation with some cajones.

This is the picture of America after more than a decade of 'sensitivity' classes; of "hate speech"; of training males and females together in the Army, Air Force, and Navy (and thank God NOT in the Marine Corps); of Shannon Faulkner; of a Navy sub captain crying his eyes out on national TV after his boat took out a fishing vessel; of the last US President having to be taught by aides how to salute because; as a draft dodger, he never learned; of our TV and motion picture "heroes" vowing to leave the country because an election didn't go their way...then not leaving; of having no draft; of modifying escape and evasion training at the Air Force Academy because some female threatened to file a lawsuit (after accepting a $750,000 education courtesy of the US taxpayers) because she felt "sexually harassed"; of a female Army Blackhawk pilot who refused to fly because it was her kids "constitutional right" to breast feed...AND her Army Blackhawk pilot husband helping her bring the lawsuit against the Army; of the meandering definition of what "is" is; of career military officers getting Master's degrees at taxpayer's expense...yet have no idea how to "fix bayonets", let alone lead the charge; of Hillary Clinton as a role model; of the Air Force disallowing the painting of pin-up nose art on the aircraft of men who might just be required to fly said aircraft to their deaths...all because some lesbian from the National Organization of Gals (NAG) threatened a branch of the United States Military; of Bobbie has two daddies" and "Lisa has two mommies"; of a 15 year old needing parental permission for a tattoo but not for an abortion; of our tax money being used to pay an "artist" to immerse a crucifix in a jar of urine; of American citizens complaining about the noise military jets make when flying over their house...and going to court to get their target runs changed...and succeeding; of a citizenry that can't distinguish between an admiral and a chief petty officer...or between a pilot and a clerk for that matter.

We don't have John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart...we have Jason Priestly and Yanni.

We don't have Ernie Pyle and Walter Cronkite...we have Peter Jennings.

In short...we have been feminized...not in the Maggie Thatcher/Golda Meir kick-your-ass way...but in the whining, ACLU get-in-touch-with-your-feelings-men-are-enemies kind of way and, therefore, we cannot, repeat, MUST NOT deploy troops on a large scale to some place like Afghanistan...our military (except for a few elite units) does not have "the fire in the belly" it requires...Our enemies have not taken any sensitivity classes.

And, thanks to Bill Clinton and his ilk, we have an eviscerated combat force that is top heavy of fat ass, butt boy flag officers and short on NCO's willing, capable and prepared to skewer Osama bin Laden with a bayonet.

We will now "pay the piper" for electing Bill Clinton twice...

It will be clear when we mount whatever military response we eventually choose...Smart bombs, cruise missiles will only make us look more impotent and less committed...

And yet Bill Clinton will still have his defenders despite the fact that because of him we cannot defend ourselves in the manner required of the world’s ONLY superpower.

And NOW the same people that voted for this moral and physical coward, want our servicemen and women to go in harms way...pay the price with one arm tied behind their backs.

It's been over three decades since I fired a shot in anger in a war we weren't firmly committed to...and yet we were in a far better mind-set to do what has to be done today than the poor kids we're going to send to do it.

Thank God curbside check-in has been abolished...I'll sleep better tonight

One Marine's Eloquence

My friend "AF" sent me this picture and the story behind the picture.

The official caption to the picture is this:

Jeff Bundy / Omaha (Neb.) World-Herald Gunnery Sgt. Michael Burghardt signals his defiance after being struck by an improvised explosive device on Sept. 19 near Ramadi, Iraq. The Marine refused to be carried away on a stretcher and walked under his own power to a waiting medevac. Among those attending to the Marine are Spc. John Adams (far left in front) and Pfc. Darin Nelson. The caption and picture come from Stars and Stripes here.

This is the story:

Leading the fight is Gunnery Sgt. Michael Burghardt, known as "Iron Mike" or just "Gunny". He is on his third tour in Iraq. He had become a legend in the bomb disposal world after winning the Bronze Star for disabling 64 IEDs and destroying 1,548 pieces of ordnance during his second tour. Then, on September 19, he got blown up. He had arrived at a chaotic scene after a bomb had killed four US soldiers. He chose not to wear the bulky bomb protection suit. "You can't react to any sniper fire and you get tunnel-vision," he explains. So, protected by just a helmet and standard-issue flak jacket, he began what bomb disposal officers term "the longest walk", stepping gingerly into a 5ft deep and 8ft wide crater. The earth shifted slightly and he saw a Senao base station with a wire leading from it. He cut the wire and used his 7in. knife to probe the ground. "I found a piece of red detonating cord between my legs," he says. "That's when I knew I was screwed."

Realizing he had been sucked into a trap, Sgt. Burghardt, 35, yelled at everyone to stay back. At that moment, an insurgent, probably watching through binoculars, pressed a button on his mobile phone to detonate the secondary device below the sergeant's feet. "A chill went up the back of my neck and then the bomb exploded," he recalls. "As I was in the air I remember thinking, 'I don't believe they got me.' I was just ticked off they were able to do it. Then I was lying on the road, not able to feel anything from the waist down." His colleagues cut off his trousers to see how badly he was hurt. None could believe his legs were still there. "My dad's a Vietnam vet who's paralyzed from the waist down," says Sgt. Burghardt. "I was lying there thinking I didn't want to be in a wheelchair next to my dad and for him to see me like that. They started to cut away my pants and I felt a real sharp pain and blood trickling down. Then I wiggled my toes and I thought, 'Good, I'm in business.' " As a stretcher was brought over, adrenaline and anger kicked in. "I decided to walk to the helicopter. I wasn't going to let my team-mates see me being carried away on a stretcher." He stood and gave the insurgents who had blown him up a one-fingered salute. "I flipped them one. It was like, 'OK, I lost that round but I'll be back next week'."

Copies of a photograph depicting his defiance, taken by Jeff Bundy for the Omaha World-Herald, adorn the walls of homes across America and that of Col John Gronski, the brigade commander in Ramadi, who has hailed the image as an exemplar of the warrior spirit. Sgt Burghardt's injuries - burns and wounds to his legs and buttocks - kept him off duty for nearly a month and could have earned him a ticket home. But, like his father - who was awarded a Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts for being wounded in action in Vietnam - he stayed in Ramadi to engage in the battle against insurgents who are forever coming up with more ingenious ways of killing Americans.

Senator Reid's Amnesty for Terrorists Bill

The facts demonstrate that illegal alien amnesty bills have already helped five terrorists kill Americans! FSM Contributing Editor Andy Selepak asks, "Why do we tolerate the spectacle of our government officials putting our lives at risk?"

Family Security Matters

By Andy Selepak

After the capture by federal authorities of six alleged Muslim terrorists, three of whom were illegal aliens, charged with planning a terrorist attack on the Fort Dix military base in New Jersey, Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) was quoted by ABC News on May 10, 2007, as saying, “I think it would be a real tragedy if we tried to make this immigration debate one dealing with terrorism.”

Reid thinks it would be a tragedy if the debate over immigration addressed how potential terrorists enter the United States? Isn’t the purpose of an immigration bill to regulate and restrict who enters this country? Shouldn’t it be a given that terrorists are to be kept out of the U.S.?

On one level, Reid’s statement might be seen as a gaffe or misstatement. Politicians make them occasionally. But in light of the Fort Dix case, his statement must be seen as far worse. It should be viewed as designed to ignore a problem that continues to pose a mortal danger to every American. That’s why the Senate’s amnesty legislation has to be derailed before politicians make a bad situation even worse.

Nevertheless, Reid got away with this shocking statement because the media, like the Democrats, President Bush and some Republicans, have a blind spot on how America’s immigration policy has facilitated the entry into the U.S. of people who want to kill us.

We should recall the facts about the so-called “Fort Dix Six.” They included Mohamad Ibrahim Shnewer, 22, from Jordan; Eljvir Duka, 23, Dritan Duka, 28, and Shain Duka, 26, all from the former Yugoslavia and ethnic Albanians; Serder Tatar, 23, from Turkey; and Argon Abdullahu, 24, from the former Yugoslavia and an ethnic Albanian. Abdullahu is charged with helping the Dukas illegally obtain firearms. Only Shnewer was a U.S. citizen, Tatar and Abdullahu were described by the Post as being “legal residents,” and the three Duka brothers were all residing in the U.S. illegally.

The Star Ledger reported on May 10, 2007, that “The Duka family entered the United States illegally through Mexico in October 1984,” including the three brothers’ mother and father, Zurata and Ferik Duka.

Senator Reid’s statement about separating the immigration debate from terrorism represents a break with reality. Why isn’t he held accountable by our media for this blindness?

Although three of the Fort Dix Six were illegal aliens, they were not uncovered by the U.S. immigration system, the Patriot Act, the FBI, or the CIA. According to the May 9 Washington Post, the would-be terrorists were “undone after attempting to have jihad training tapes copied onto a DVD.” The paper noted that “Had they not offered up an alleged jihadist video to be duplicated at a nearby Circuit City, they might never have been spotted.”

It should not have come down to the terrorists’ stupidity that led them to be caught. The fact is that the Duka brothers would never have had the opportunity to train in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, or film their training, if it were not for a broken U.S. immigration system. And all this only six years after 9/11, when terrorist attacks carried out by foreign nationals, here both legally and illegally, killed nearly 3,000 Americans.

The 1993 World Trade Center bombings and September 11thshould have prompted an immediate overhaul of our badly broken immigration system, but Reid doesn’t want the terrorist threat to get in the way of allowing millions of illegal aliens to stay in the U.S. and making a large number of them U.S. citizens and Democratic Party constituents. Short-term political gain trumps keeping America safe.

In the Fort Dix case, American soldiers and civilians were needlessly put in danger and almost killed because our government refuses to enforce our immigration laws.

Hundreds could have been killed and/or wounded, and the blame would have fallen onPresident Bush, both political parties and both Houses of Congress. Our immigration system is broken, but so is our government. We have a federal system of government unable or unwilling to protect and defend our borders.

While the Dukas had evaded immigration authorities for 23 years, they had not avoided the New Jersey police. They had been stopped dozens of times a year for speeding, illegal passing and driving without a license. In addition, on May 10, the WashingtonPost reported that Dritan Duka pleaded guilty in 2000 to possession of drug paraphernalia and Shain Duka to possession of marijuana.

The article continued that “Only one brother had a driver’s license, and only briefly. But they drove anyway and were ticketed regularly by Cherry Hill police…” In fact, “The three had their driving privileges suspended¯meaning they could not even apply for a license¯54 times in less than a decade.”

Incredibly, the Post reported that “William Kushina, a Cherry Hill Police Department spokesman, said the department could do nothing about serial unlicensed driving except continue to issue tickets and suspend privileges.”

The incompetent enforcement of our immigration laws at the federal level is also evident at the local level. Meanwhile, the American people remain vulnerable to attack. Illegal aliens, including potential terrorists, seem to break laws at will, confident they will never be caught, or if they are, never deported.

In this case, it was a clerk at Circuit City that prevented what would have been a massive attack on a U.S. military base on U.S. soil. Thankfully, an individual with a conscience saved the day. Our government at many levels failed us. But now the federal government wants to give amnesty to even more illegal aliens on American soil who may be potential terrorists.

The fact that illegal aliens were planning a deadly attack on American soldiers and on U.S. soil at a military base is lost on supporters for amnesty for illegals. ABC News reported that Democrats, for instance, “reject the argument” that the Duka brothers or Abdullahu prove anything.

Sadly, this is an old story of the government providing amnesty to illegal aliens and ignoring the consequences. Our government never learns, essentially guaranteeing another terrorist attack.

According to a Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) report from September 2005, “of 94 terrorists who operated in the United States between the early 1990s and 2004, including six of the September 11th hijackers…about two-thirds (59) committed immigration fraud prior to or in conjunction with taking part in terrorist activity.” But they stayed in the U.S. anyway. The September 2005 CIS report discloses that, in 1983, “9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM)…enrolled first at Chowan College, a Baptist school in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, and then at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro. There, one of his classmates was Ramzi Yousef’s brother, who himself later became an al-Qaeda member while Yousef planned the 1993 World Trade Center and Bojinka plots with KSM.”

In a report entitled “The Open Door, How Militant Islamic Terrorists Entered and Remained in the United States, 1993-2001” the CIS reported that “Past amnesties for illegal aliens have facilitated terrorism. Mahmud Abouhalima, a leader of the 1993 Trade Center bombing, was legalized as a seasonal agricultural worker as part of the 1986 amnesty.”

The report says that Mohammed Salameh, another conspirator in the 1993 Trade Center bombing, “applied for the same amnesty as Abouhalima and was denied” but “continued to live and work in the United States illegally and ultimately took part in the 1993 attack.”

The bottom line is that illegal alien amnesty bills help terrorists kill Americans.

The September 2005 CIS report also states that “The 1986 amnesty program was fraudulently used five times in attempts to establish residency. One terrorist, Mir Aimal Kansi, sought amnesty under the 1986 law for illegal entrants. Four others, three convicted for their roles in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and one in the 1993 Landmarks case, sought amnesty under the Special Agricultural Workers Program. Three who sought amnesty under this program attained it.”

Nevertheless, Senator Reid, with White House support, wants to push a similar amnestybill. The new bill includes all the same enforcement provisions that were included in the 1986 bill but never carried out. The only difference between then and now is there are now more illegal aliens in this country. There were less than 3 million illegal aliens in the U.S. in 1986. But, depending on estimates, there are now between 12 and 20 million illegal aliens in the U.S.

So here’s the question: if five terrorists used the 1986 Amnesty bill in attempts to establish residency, what happens now that there might be ten times as many illegal immigrants in this country? Could there be 20 terrorists illegally living in the U.S. right now who could be granted amnesty by a new “comprehensive immigration reform” bill? Could there be 50? 100? Or More?
Voting in favor of an amnesty bill under these circumstances is tantamount to turning a blind eye to terrorists on American soil plotting to kill Americans. Why do we tolerate the spectacle of our government officials putting our lives at risk?

Let’s build the fence and identify and isolate the illegal aliens. Then, at the very least, let’s immediately deport those with terrorist ties before they try to kill us again. This is the only “immigration reform” that makes any sense.

Why can’t Bush, Democrats and Republicans agree on that? Why do they insist on putting us all in danger? And why won’t the media do their jobs and insist on a solution that will protect America from another terrorist attack?

Dean

Why? Because Allah ordered it done. Would I write that without proof? No, I am not a damned fool. Anyone who says "Islam is a great religion of peace." is a fool or a liar, I am neither.

  • 8:67. It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war (and free them with ransom) until he had made a great slaughter (among his enemies) in the land. You desire the good of this world (i.e. the money of ransom for freeing the captives), but Allâh desires (for you) the Hereafter. And Allâh is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
8:67 establishes great slaughter as a prerequisite for ransoming prisoners. In so doing, it sanctifies genocide. Allah desires that Muhammad enter Paradise. Great slaughter is the price of admission. Read and re-read this ayat until you understand it.

  • 47:4. So, when you meet (in fight Jihâd in Allâh's Cause), those who disbelieve smite at their necks till when you have killed and wounded many of them, then bind a bond firmly (on them, i.e. take them as captives). Thereafter (is the time) either for generosity (i.e. free them without ransom), or ransom (according to what benefits Islâm), until the war lays down its burden. Thus [you are ordered by Allâh to continue in carrying out Jihâd against the disbelievers till they embrace Islâm (i.e. are saved from the punishment in the Hell-fire) or at least come under your protection], but if it had been Allâh's Will, He Himself could certainly have punished them (without you). But (He lets you fight), in order to test you, some with others. But those who are killed in the Way of Allâh, He will never let their deeds be lost,

Do you comprehend what you just read?

  • until he had made a great slaughter

  • till when you have killed and wounded many of them

  • Thus [you are ordered by Allâh to continue in carrying out Jihâd against the disbelievers till they embrace Islâm

  • But those who are killed in the Way of Allâh, He will never let their deeds be lost
Allah is talking about killing Kuffar, not subduing your passions with peaceful internal struggle against temptation. You do not get killed talking down a woody. Of course, those declarations are empty verbiage, nobody ever did anything like that in Allah's name, did they? Why is that mountain pass named Hindu Kush? Do you have a clue? Does "where the Hindus were slaughtered" give you a clue? But surely not in modern times! No, not since World War Two. Of course not.

But those actions are perversions of the peaceful doctrines of Islam. Yeah, right. Muhammad perverted his own doctrine, like this:

  • Bukhari Volume 5, Book 59, Number 512:
    Narrated Anas:
The Prophet offered the Fajr Prayer near Khaibar when it was still dark and then said, "Allahu-Akbar! Khaibar is destroyed, for whenever we approach a (hostile) nation (to fight), then evil will be the morning for those who have been warned." Then the inhabitants of Khaibar came out running on the roads. The Prophet had their warriors killed, their offspring and woman taken as captives. Safiya was amongst the captives, She first came in the share of Dahya Alkali but later on she belonged to the Prophet . The Prophet made her manumission as her 'Mahr'.
Do you comprehend this? Muhammad sent an extortion letter to a peaceful settlement, then he invaded it. He killed all the men after they surrendered and enslaved their widows and orphans. He took the chieftain's young bride for his harem.

  • Abu Dawud Book 38, Number 4390:
    Narrated Atiyyah al-Qurazi:
I was among the captives of Banu Qurayzah. They (the Companions) examined us, and those who had begun to grow hair (pubes) were killed, and those who had not were not killed. I was among those who had not grown hair.
What did Muhammad do to the adolescent boys? Did he give them dates & honey? No, he whacked their heads off!

  • Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 280:
    Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri:
When the tribe of Bani Quraiza was ready to accept Sad's judgment, Allah's Apostle sent for Sad who was near to him. Sad came, riding a donkey and when he came near, Allah's Apostle said (to the Ansar), "Stand up for your leader." Then Sad came and sat beside Allah's Apostle who said to him. "These people are ready to accept your judgment." Sad said, "I give the judgment that their warriors should be killed and their children and women should be taken as prisoners." The Prophet then remarked, "O Sad! You have judged amongst them with (or similar to) the judgment of the King Allah."
Who do you believe:

  1. George W. Bush

  2. Muhammad's Excellent Companions?
My guess is that the former has never read the traditions of the latter.

Of Hobbits and hillary

So, there I was, watching the LOTR series the other night. And while watching the movies, my mind was ruminating on Billary's latest nonsense of ending "an on-your-own society” and replacing it with "we're all in it together society" where prosperity is "broadly shared".

Two quotes follow:

Election 2008: Sen. hillary clinton shared on Tuesday her vision of the U.S.
economy under her executive stewardship. She should change her party
affiliation - or the name of her party. Speaking in New Hampshire, clinton
acknowledged that instead of the “ownership society” that George W. Bush has
promoted throughout his presidency, she prefers a “we’re all in it together
society” where prosperity is “broadly shared".

“We must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what is
best for society.” [hillary clinton, 1993]

So while watching my movies and ruminating on the stalinista's latest ramblings, I started seeing parallels.

The crux of the movies (and of course, the books) is the whole of Middle Earth depended on the actions of ONE TINY HOBBIT. Not Middle Earth broadly sharing the responsibility--ONE TINY HOBBIT.

The Elves couldn't do it. The Dwarves couldn't do it. The Ents couldn't do it. The Rohirrim couldn't do it. The Men couldn't do it. The Wizards couldn't do it. Neither Sam, nor even eight of the nine, could do it. Only Frodo. AN INDIVIDUAL.

Frodo got plenty of support while on his journey, yes. BUT NO ONE ELSE COULD ACCOMPLISH WHAT HE NEEDED TO--NO ONE.

Whether or not Peter Jackson knew just what he was illustrating, I have no idea.

Let's look to another example of someone who was the only one who could accomplish something.

This person was born 2,007 years ago by modern reckoning (taken from His birth, as a matter of fact) and He died 33 years later. He had plenty of help from a loving mother, a wonderful foster-father and the King of all Fathers. He was smart, knowledgeable, spiritual beyond pale--yet down to earth, common sense, loving, kind and compassionate. He understood the flaws of humanity and forgave them. He laughed, cried, loved, and became angry at nonsense (doing business in temples comes to mind).

Instead of the fellowship of 9, He had twelve devoted friends. How many of us can say that?

He promoted INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY through His Father's 10 rules (also known as Commandments, not suggestions) and His own 1 rule (the 11th Commandment). He advocated a hand up, not a hand out.

And yet...persons who think like the stalinista and her buddies (pelosi, reid, murtha, et. al.), who claim to know Him, don't seem to get it. But here's the kicker...once again, He and only He could do the job He was sent here for.

It was He who had to taste the lash, He who had to wear the Crown, He who had to die. Not the 12 together. Not society as a whole. He and He alone.

He was, of course, Jesus Christ, full Son of God, who died for OUR redemption and taught us how to work towards our own salvation.

Two individuals--one fictional, Frodo, who saved all of Middle Earth; one real, the Son of God, our Savior.

Two individuals who made a difference. Two individuals who saved their respective worlds. Not a collective such as a termite colony--a collective that centers around a queen and lives on destruction.

Do you prefer to be an individual or part of a destructive collective? A vote for billary is for a destructive collective--make no mistake.
