You Might Be A Liberal If:

~Snooper~

With special permissions from Political Vindication:
You might be a leftist if...

You think that if someone is getting richer, someone, somewhere, must be getting poorer.

You think that protesters outside nuclear power plants are dedicated activists, but protesters outside abortion clinics are dangerous zealots interfering with a legal activity.

You believe that more federal regulations will make your life better.

You believe that even though the top 20 percent of taxpayers pay 80 percent of income taxes, that the rich are not paying their "fair share".

You think that Rush Limbaugh's listeners are mindless dittoheads, but you have never doubted anything that you heard from Michael Moore.

You believe in global warming today just as firmly as you believed in global cooling back in the 1970s.

You believe that the network news is a better indicator of what "real" news is than talk radio, Internet news sites, and blogs.

You believe that there was never, ever a problem with biased news coverage until FOX News went on the air.

You believe that Mikhail Gorbachev deserves more credit for losing the Cold War than Ronald Reagan deserves for winning it.

Your parents gave you an acre of preserved rain forest for your first birthday.

You cannot name a single NASCAR driver.

You mentally subtract 100 points from someone's IQ if the person speaks with a Southern accent.

You think that Dan Rather got a raw deal.

You panic if you discover that you're out of chickpeas.

You think that the phrase "separation of church and state" is in the Constitution.

You pride yourself on your global awareness, global sensitivity, and global outlook, but can't name your state legislator or school board representative.

You are dedicated to helping the poor, the downtrodden, and the less fortunate, but you have never given blood.

You have not seen The Passion of the Christ, and you don't know anyone who has seen it.

You believe that a woman should make it on her own, without depending on her husband (except for Hillary Clinton).

You believe that professional, working women should never be judged on their appearance (except for Katherine Harris).

You believe that rich people should not be allowed to contribute so much money to candidates for office (except for George Soros).

You believe that government should make a special effort to hire members of traditionally oppressed groups, such as African-Americans (except for Clarence Thomas, Colin Powell, and Condoleezza Rice).

You feel a deep sense of common cause with oppressed groups, such as Hispanic immigrants (except for Cuban-Americans fleeing Castro).

You believe that a mother's wishes for her child, especially a mother's last, dying wish for her child, should outweigh the wishes of a father who had long before deserted his family (unless the child is named Elian Gonzalez).

You think people in south Florida, who can't figure out how to work a butterfly ballot, ought to have the final say in choosing the president of the United States.

You have no problem with Hollywood movie stars flying around in private jets to give speeches on the evils of SUVs.

You think that raising taxes will reduce the budget deficit.

You deplore prejudice and bigotry in all its forms, but think that everyone in the "red states" is an idiot.

You are more concerned, more often, with the rights of convicted felons than you are with the rights of small business owners.

You uphold a woman's right to choose, unless a woman chooses adoption, chooses to be a stay-at-home mom, chooses to homeschool, or chooses to start a business.

You are more concerned with Vice-President Cheney's links to Halliburton than with Saddam Hussein's links to international terrorism.

You have used the phrase, "in Europe, the government pays for health care and vacation," without irony.

You are worried about how the French view Americans.

You believe that nativity scenes should be banned from public view, but that anyone objecting to pornography "only has to look the other way."

You think that consenting adults can engage freely in every activity except capitalism.

You named your children Moonglow and Arizona.

You think the really alarming violence takes place outside the abortion clinic.

You've ever referred to the "root cause" of something.

You pray to "The Woman Upstairs."

You think we never gave peace a chance.

You had to be told that "Manhattan," "menopause," and "boycott" were not sexist words.

You begin sentences with the words "I feel."

Your driver's license has a hyphen, because for you one last name just isn't enough.

You don't think All in the Family is a very funny program, but watch it anyway because Meathead makes a lot of sense.

You think OJ is out looking for the real killers.

You think Julia Sugarbaker is an astute social commentator.

You think it takes a village.

You think that the words "to promote the general welfare" in the Constitution mean to promote welfare generally.

You think that, even though more people voted against him than for him in both the 1992 and the 1996 presidential elections, Bill Clinton had a mandate.

You think that conservatives, like preservatives, ought to be federally regulated.

You ever wore earth shoes.

You have ever wondered out loud, "Why can't we all just get along?"

You think the New York Times prints all the news that's fit.

You spent Columbus Day reading Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.

You reach the limits of your talent and then complain that you ran into a glass ceiling.

You wear more ribbons on your lapel than in your hair.

You think that the really dangerous McCarthy was Joe, not Eugene.

You blame the Unabomber's parents.

You fail to see the connection between Lenin and Lennon.

You have ever agreed with Martin Sheen or Barbara Streisand.

You refuse to admit that you're a leftist, and accuse anyone of calling you a leftist of McCarthyism.

Unsung Heroes: Doing What Most Won't

~Snooper~

There are three key operations in the ITO, three of many, but these most recent, which have brought about the beginning of the end of Al Qaeda in Iraq. Don't get me wrong here...the war is far from "over" but Victory is at hand.

Operation Phantom Phoenix, Operation Marne Thunderbolt, Operation Iron Harvest

These operations have exacted justice on the remaining hard-core pockets of AQI and mopping up exercises, albeit dangerous, is under way. The video of the latest Shock and Awe air strikes can be seen here or here. You can check out the excellent work of our troops at The Long War Journal.

As our own jackals in DC whine, piss and moan about how the Iraqi Political "benchmarks" go undone; as their own benchmarks and earmarks drain the citizenry dry; we find that unbeknownst to them and, rightfully so...God forbid the NYT finds out about it...the Iraqis have been working feverishly behind the scenes, more than likely under the tutelage of those "nasty and mean military people", to undermine the terrorist groups inside Iraq and they have succeeded. (Don't forget to send cards of condolences to the anti-Americanist groups within CONUS up to and including half of our CONgress.)

HEADLINE:

Iraq: We've Penetrated AQI -- But Apparently Not The American Media

Reid: STOP THE WORLD! I WANNA GET OFF! I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!! Well, no. He hasn't said that openly but I bet he sure does think it and maybe even whines to his wife...if she can still stand him...and most assuredly to his partner in defeat Nanny Pelosi.
At the same time that the Iraqi National Assembly passed its long-awaited de-Ba'athification reform, the security services have apparently cracked al-Qaeda's organization in the country. Muslim World News, a Muslim news agency in India, reports that the Iraqi Interior Ministry formed a unit recently dedicated to attacking AQI and will shortly take out the entire structure (via AJ Strata):
OH MY!! It was a good thing that the NY Slimes and the Washington Compost didn't know about this ahead of time, eh? They would have tipped off their buddies in AQ!! Instead, Iraqis did the work themselves showing the dumb American idiots in CONgress that can't even do their own damn jobs how to succeed. Well done!

This story can be found here and here.

Iraqi official says Al-Qaeda in Iraq is penetrated, has become an open book Iraq Announces The Defeat Of al-Qaeda Is At Hand, Time To Celebrate

Now we know The Why and the How Did They Know in regards to the recent air strikes. I wonder if that idiot over at StupidMuttDrip feels like the idiot we all know it to be now?

I have often wondered when an AQ Tet Offensive was to come seeing that was their only chance since the Surge has routed them out from just about everywhere. Apparently, their regrouping into these areas may have been the beginnings of that and the Iraqi penetration stemmed that tide and nipped it in the bud. We shall see.

If ops like this keep happening day after day, I think Wizbang may be correct: Iraq may be moot point in campaign after Bush deal... read the story here as well...

Sorry, Barack, You've lost Iraq.

For the complete idiot and dumbest President we have ever had...so say the various anti-Americanist groups around the globe...GWB sure does outfox them at EVERY turn, doesn't he? I wonder if the idiots that get trounced by GWB on a regular basis still feel superior...
The Bush Administration expects to sign a new deal with the Iraqi government this summer which will replace the UN Security Council Resolutions in governing our relationship, and could also take Iraq off the table for the fall elections - as well as for the next Administration. Michael Hirsh reports for Newsweek: [...]
[...] Even on his way out the door, Bush wins again.
OUCH!! That will leave a mark...

As Ed at CQ states:
[...] If the Iraqi government has penetrated AQI, doesn't that mean something for their ability to fight terror and to stand on their own two feet? Isn't a free and stable Iraq the victory we have awaited, and doesn't this suggest that we're coming close to achieving it? Doesn't the joint military operations conducted in Iraq this week tend to confirm this Interior Ministry statement?
The silence is becoming deafening.
There's those damn crickets again...

Catch the buzz here...LOL!!

The List of 45: Something You Should Consider As You Choose Your Elected Officials

~Snooper~

The List of 45

Years ago, a brave soul or two tried to bring to the attention of the American People that the Communist take over of America was well under way. They were chattered down and pretty much ignored through space and time. Much like today. Yet, we see every day or, at least which are tuned into reality, our political machinations stripping away at our freedoms time and time again.

It is called Identity Politics. It is called Multiculturalism. It is called Why Can't We All Get Along? It is called all manner of colored and disguised names and titles. Now, in these modern times, one can also include Cultural Jihad.

In today's rough and tumble and troubled times, we see that the ignorance of the masses has indeed brought about MANY policies of which, left unabated and unchallenged, will see the dreams and goals of the First Czarina of The United Socialist States of the Former United Free States of America. That Czarina would be the Madame Rodham, her supporters and her like-minded politicos.

Below is what I have called, The List of 45.

In the comments section, if you have a mind to, please list the items that you have seen become a reality. I have my list and it is truly eye-opening. Do you have a list? If not, you need to establish your list so you can Fight the Good Fight. Our very survival is at stake.

The communist goals were entered into the Congressional record by Albert Herlong, Jr. (a Floridian who served in Congress from 1949-69).

1) US acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2) US willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3) Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the US would be a demonstration of "moral strength."

4) Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5) Extension of long term loans to Russia and Soviet Satellites.

6) Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

7) Grant recognition of Red China, and admission of Red China to the UN.

8) Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev's promise in 1955 to settle the Germany question by free elections under supervision of the UN.

9) Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the US has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

10) Allow all Soviet Satellites individual representation in the UN.

11) Promote the UN as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the UN as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo).

12) Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13) Do away with loyalty oaths.

14) Continue giving Russia access to the US Patent Office.

15) Capture one or both of the political parties in the US.

16) Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions, by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17) Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for Socialism, and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers associations. Put the party line in text books.

18) Gain control of all student newspapers.

19) Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20) Infiltrate the press. Get control of book review assignments, editorial writing, policy-making positions.

21) Gain control of key positions in radio, TV & motion pictures.

22) Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all form of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings," substitute shapeless, awkward, and meaningless forms.

23) Control art critics and directors of art museums. "Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art."

24) Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.

25) Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography, and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and TV.

26) Present homosexuality, degeneracy, and promiscuity as "normal, natural, and healthy."

27) Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch."

28) Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the grounds that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."

29) Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30) Discredit the American founding fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man".

31) Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of "the big picture": Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32) Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture - - education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

33) Eliminate all laws or procedures, which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34) Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35) Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36) Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37) Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

38) Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand or treat.

39) Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

40) Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41) Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42) Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special interest groups should rise up and make a "united force" to solve economic, political, or social problems.

43) Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44) Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45) Repeal the Connally Reservation so the US can not prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike.

The nitty-gritty details can be read and studied in the book, The Naked Communist.

The goals that he read were taken from "The Naked Communist" by Cleon Skousen, which can be purchased from Amazon:

Next, we will look at the Communist Manifesto

Circa 1956, or so, the Top Dog of the USSR, Nikita Kruschev pounded his shoe on the podium of the United Nations and shouted to the West, "We will bury you!"

Many had no idea what this meant and said openly that they would have to have that translated. Some scoffed at the concept at the USSR burying the West but hind sight is now 20-20. It shows that we should NEVER take for granted that this and that can never happen to us and to take all threats seriously and keep a watchful eye on the enemy in both peace time and during war. I would go as far as saying that it would be wiser to keep a more watchful eye on the enemy in peace time whether than war time.

Cooler heads prevailed and with the USSR waltzing through Europe and the Middle East, the United States proceeded to build up the United States military and created the most powerful military in the world and in history. Thus remains true to this date. Unfortunately, while the military gained prominence in the world, we allowed our political machinations go unchecked and naturally assumed that the politicians knew what they were doing. Some did. Some didn't.

There were and, still are, two kinds of those that did know what they were doing. Some were devout socialists that penetrated the American political scene and some recognized that threat but were scorned and frowned upon because certainly, this socialist take-over surely could not happen. No one would choose socialism/communism over the American Federal Republic. They have been proven wrong and it is time to wake the hell up. There are many kinds of politicians that have no idea what they are doing and it is very much evident when you hear them speak.

Liberal activists, read that communist operatives, gained positions of political office throughout American on the local, State and Federal levels. Impossible you say? Conspiratorial you say? Perhaps; but the evidence puts to rest the conspiratorial over tones.

American law making processes have gradually, through the years, and nearly assimilated into American society laws that will give a natural and seemingly painless pathway to drift into full-blown Communism in downtown America. â€Å“The Communist program from the start has been one which sees their revolution of 1917 successful only upon total domination of the world. (See Brain Washing, A Synthesis of the Russian Textbook on Psychopolitics)

We Americans are the singularly most compassionate in the world, the most benevolent and the most naive people there have ever been. We even believe that Communism is dead because the Berlin Wall came down. Communism ain't dead. It is called something else. It is called "progressive". It is called "Social Democracy". It is called "Democracy". Some even call it "International Democracy"…think George Soros here. Political Correctness has blind-sided those that merely go along with the emotionally weak.

There are others that claim that DC has become part of the New World Order of atheist governments. Whereas that can be argued, I would not go that far but I do see a resemblance of this in the current political climate. The Iron Curtain has come down in Europe and there are indeed proponents within the United Sates that would like to raise it here at home and give birth to what I have come to call the New United Socialist States of the North American Continent, including Canada, seeing that parts of Canada has indeed succumb to socialist ideals and thought and speech control.

With that said, it is a matter of record and fact that our American Politicians have supported and passed legislation during the years spanning from the early 1960s to 2008. They are anti-Christian, anti-American statutes and regulations on the federal, state, and local levels. They are oddly reminiscent of the original ten planks of the Communist Manifesto written by Karl Marx in 1848.

Listed below are 10 key "laws" which have become part of the every day life of the American populace. "The American people have truly been 'buried in Communism'" and they do not even know it or not aware of it. Not one "main stream" political party is to blame. Both Democrat and Republican parties are to blame with the majority of socialistic yearning members being in the DNC and a great number in the GOP…we call them RINOs and I now dub the socialist Democrats DINOs.

Each of the Ten Planks is noted below with annotations of laws passed in the US Legislative Processes. Be afraid and wake the hell up.

1. Abolition of private property and the application of all rent to public purpose.
The 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution (1868), and various zoning, school & property taxes. Also the Bureau of Land Management.

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
Misapplication of the 16th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, 1913, The Social Security Act of 1936.; Joint House Resolution 192 of 1933; and various State "income" taxes. We call it "paying your fair share".

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
We call it Federal & State estate Tax (1916); or reformed Probate Laws, and limited inheritance via arbitrary inheritance tax statutes.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
We call in government seizures, tax liens, Public "law" 99-570 (1986); Executive Order 11490, sections 1205, 2002 which gives private land to the Department of Urban Development; the imprisonment of "terrorists" and those who speak out or write against the "government" (1997 Crime/Terrorist Bill); or the IRS confiscation of property without due process.

5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.
We call it the Federal Reserve which is a credit/debt system nationally organized by the Federal Reserve act of 1913. All local banks are members of the Fed system, and are regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

6. Centralization of the means of communication and transportation in the hands of the State.
We call it the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Department of Transportation (DOT) mandated through the ICC act of 1887, the Commissions Act of 1934, The Interstate Commerce Commission established in 1938, The Federal Aviation Administration, Federal Communications Commission, and Executive Orders 11490, 10999, as well as State mandated driver's licenses and Department of Transportation regulations.

7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State, the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
We call it corporate capacity, The Desert Entry Act and The Department of Agriculture. As well as the Department of Commerce and Labor, Department of Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Mines, National Park Service, and the IRS control of business through corporate regulations.

8. Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of Industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
We call it the Social Security Administration and The Department of Labor. The National debt and inflation caused by the communal bank has caused the need for a two "income" family. Woman in the workplace since the 1920's, the 19th amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, assorted Socialist Unions, affirmative action, the Federal Public Works Program and of course Executive Order 11000.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the population over the country. We call it the Planning Reorganization act of 1949 , zoning (Title 17 1910-1990) and Super Corporate Farms, as well as Executive orders 11647, 11731 (ten regions) and Public "law" 89-136.

10. Free education for all children in government schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc. etc.
People are being taxed to support what we call 'public' schools, which train the young to work for the communal debt system. We also call it the Department of Education, the NEA and Outcome Based "Education".

So I ask you...does changing the words, change the end result? By using different words is it all of a sudden OK? We are so "smart," aren't we??

Ladies and Gentleman, not only are we in a war; a Global War On Terror, we are in a war right here in the Continental United States and her "offspring" and territories.

What are your freedoms worth? What price is your soul? To whom and to what do you swear your allegiance to?

Excerpt from The Communist Manifesto of 1848 by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels:

Of course, in the beginning, this cannot be effected except by means of despotic inroads on the rights of property, and on the conditions of bourgeois production; by means of measures, therefore, which appear economically insufficient and untenable, but which, in the course of the movement, outstrip themselves, necessitate further inroads upon the old social order, and are unavoidable as a means of entirely revolutionizing the mode of production.

These measures will, of course, be different in different countries.

Nevertheless, in most advanced countries, the following will be pretty generally applicable.

1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.

5. Centralization of credit in the banks of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.

6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the state.

7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the state; the bringing into cultivation of waste lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.

8. Equal obligation of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of all the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the populace over the country.

10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labor in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, etc.

When, in the course of development, class distinctions have disappeared, and all production has been concentrated in the hands of a vast association of the whole nation, the public power will lose its political character. Political power, properly so called, is merely the organized power of one class for oppressing another. If the proletariat during its contest with the bourgeoisie is compelled, by the force of circumstances, to organize itself as a class; if, by means of a revolution, it makes itself the ruling class, and, as such, sweeps away by force the old conditions of production, then it will, along with these conditions, have swept away the conditions for the existence of class antagonisms and of classes generally, and will thereby have abolished its own supremacy as a class.

The meaning of peace is the absence of opposition to socialism. -- Karl Marx, German political Philosopher and revolutionary, 1818-1883

Rest Easy, Friend, Patriot...Major Andrew Olmsted

~Snooper~

My friend, fellow soldier and blogging soldier, Major Andrew Olmsted, was KIA yesterday in Iraq.

He was killed defending a village under threats from rabid murdering Men of Peace. The village was primarily composed of innocent women and children. So brave these Men of Peace are.

Some time ago, he composed a blog entry to be posted upon his death. That post is at Obsidian Wings and at his own web site, Andrew Olmsted.

Rest in peace, Soldier.

I include a poem located in the comments section of Confederate Yankee.

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The soldier stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

Damn, how I hate Islamic murdering shits.

WHERE DO YOU FIND MEN LIKE THESE?
~Loki~

What I don't want this to be is a chance for me, or anyone else, to be maudlin. I'm dead. That sucks, at least for me and my family and friends. But all the tears in the world aren't going to bring me back, so I would prefer that people remember the good things about me rather than mourning my loss. (If it turns out a specific number of tears will, in fact, bring me back to life, then by all means, break out the onions.) I had a pretty good life, as I noted above. Sure, all things being equal I would have preferred to have more time, but I have no business complaining with all the good fortune I've enjoyed in my life. So if you're up for that, put on a little 80s music (preferably vintage 1980-1984), grab a Coke and have a drink with me. If you have it, throw 'Freedom Isn't Free' from the Team America soundtrack in; if you can't laugh at that song, I think you need to lighten up a little. I'm dead, but if you're reading this, you're not, so take a moment to enjoy that happy fact.

Rest well, my friend.

Benazir Bhutto Reported Dead: UPDATED with Reactions

~Wake Up America~

[Updates below] Reactions & Al-Qaeda tries to take credit for Bhutto's death.

NYT, SkyNews, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, and Washington Post are all reporting that Benazir Bhutto has been assassinated and a deadly suicide bombing attack that has killed at least 20 people.

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan - Pakistan opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was assassinated Thursday in a suicide bombing that also killed at least 20 others at a campaign rally, a party aide and a military official said.

"At 6:16 p.m. she expired," said Wasif Ali Khan, a member of Bhutto's party who was at Rawalpindi General Hospital where she was taken after the attack.
Evidently she was shot in the neck and chest and as she was getting in a car to leave the rally, the initial reports are claiming. Her husband later told media she was in surgery.

Pakistan is already in a state of emergency declared by Musharaff earlier in the year and there had already been an assassination attempts on Bhutto at a rally in October and again yesterday, police stopped a would-be bomber with explosives around his neck.. There is also speculation that this assassination might postpone the parliamentary elections scheduled for January.

According to ABC, early reports were that Bhutto was safe, but reports have now come out that she is dead.

The Washington Post is reporting that at a different rally, a sniper opened fire on supporters of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, leaving four dead and five injured.

MSNBC reports that Musharaff had forced Bhutto to cancel a previous rally, citing security fears and that security at this rally was tight, "hundreds of riot police manning security checkpoints with metal detectors around what was Bhutto's first campaign rally since returning from exile two months ago."

Not tight enough obviously.

The New York Times give a bit of history regarding Benazir Bhutto:
Ms. Bhutto, 54, returned to Pakistan to present herself as the answer to the nation’s troubles: a tribune of democracy in a state that has been under military rule for eight years, and the leader of the country’s largest opposition political party, founded by her father, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, one of Pakistan’s most flamboyant and democratically inclined prime ministers.

But her record in power, and the dance of veils she has deftly performed since her return -- one moment standing up to General Musharraf, then next seeming to accommodate him, and never quite revealing her actual intentions -- has stirred as much distrust as hope among Pakistanis.

A graduate of Harvard and Oxford, she brought the backing of Washington and London, where she impresses with her political lineage, her considerable charm and her persona as a female Muslim leader.

But with these accomplishments, Ms. Bhutto also brought controversy, and a legacy among Pakistanis as a polarizing figure who during her two turbulent tenures as prime minister, first from 1988 to 1990 and again from 1993 to 1996, often acted imperiously and impulsively.

She faced deep questions about her personal probity in public office, which led to corruption cases against her in Switzerland, Spain and Britain, as well as in Pakistan.
Daily Mail has pictures of Bhutto right before the attack and many photos of the carnage afterwards.

This will do nothing to stabilize Pakistan and will, in fact, destabilize it further as accusations fly and fingers start pointing.

The Pakistan Spectator is reporting clashes between police and supporters:
In Rawalpindi, right in front of Rawalpindi General Hospital where Late Benazir Bhutto died and her dead body is present right now, workers of People's Party are sitting and weeping loudly. In other areas of Rawalpindi like Faizabad, Saddar and Murree Road, angry crowd is burning shops and vehicles and shouting slogans against the terorists.

On Dusht Road, Peshawar, angry crowd has blocked the main road.

All the roads leading to capital Islamabad have been barricaded and blocked and there are reports of collision of police with protesters.
More photos can be found at Getty Images.

Pakistan is a nuclear power which makes this type of instability a very dangerous situation for the international community as a whole. This also could spark a complete civil war in Pakistan.

Photos of the streets on television news shows protests, rioting and they are saying Bush has been informed and more than 40 other people are being reported as injured.

These are just initial numbers from multiple reports and I will update as more news comes out.

[Update]

Reactions from Presidential Candidates:

Guiliani:
"assassination of Benazir Bhutto underscores a need for the U.S. to increase its efforts to combat terrorism."

"Her murderers must be brought to justice, and Pakistan must continue the path back to democracy and the rule of law. "Her death is a reminder that terrorism anywhere _ whether in New York, London, Tel-Aviv or Rawalpindi _ is an enemy of freedom. We must redouble our efforts to win the terrorists' war on us."
Huckabee from his website:
“I am deeply troubled by the news accounts this morning of Pakistani opposition leader and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s assassination in a suicide attack. This is devastating news for the people of Pakistan, and my prayers go out to them as we follow developments regarding this dire situation.

”The terrible violence surrounding Pakistan’s upcoming election stands in stark contrast to the peaceful transition of power that we embrace in our country through our Constitution. On this sad day, we are reminded that while our democracy has flaws, it stands as a shining beacon of hope for nations and people around the world who seek peace and opportunity through self-government.”
McCain email release:
"I was deeply saddened today to learn about the death of Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto."

"My deepest condolences go out to the family and supporters of this remarkable woman, an individual who paid the ultimate price for her embrace of moderation and rejection of extremism.

"The death of Benazir Bhutto underscores yet again the grave dangers we face in the world today and particularly in countries like Pakistan, where the forces of moderation are arrayed in a fierce battle against those who embrace violent Islamic extremism.

"Given Pakistan's strategic location, the international terrorist groups that operate from its soil, and its nuclear arsenal, the future of that country has deep implications for the security of the United States and its allies. America must stand on the right side of this ongoing struggle.

"In my numerous visits to Pakistan -- to Islamabad, to Peshawar, even to the tribal areas of Waziristan -- I have seen first hand the many challenges that face the political leadership there, challenges so graphically portrayed by today's tragedy. There are, in Pakistan, brave individuals who seek to lead their country away from extremism and instability and into the light of a better day. America, I believe, must do all we can to support them."
Romney email release:
"We are still learning the details of today's tragic events in Pakistan, but this is a stark reminder that America must not only stay on high alert, but remain actively engaged across the globe."

"Pakistan has long been a key part in the war against extremism and radical jihadists. For those who think Iraq is the sole front in the war on terror, one must look no further than what has happened today. America must show its commitment to stand with all moderate forces across the Islamic world and together face the defining challenge of our generation –- the struggle against violent, radical jihadists.

"At this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers go to the family of Benazir Bhutto, and to all the people of Pakistan who are fighting against extremist forces that would commit such heinous acts as the whole world has witnessed today."
From the White House Website, President Bush's reaction:
Laura and I extend our deepest condolences to the family of Benazir Bhutto, to her friends, to her supporters. We send our condolences to the families of the others who were killed in today's violence. And we send our condolences to all the people of Pakistan on this tragic occasion.

The United States strongly condemns this cowardly act by murderous extremists who are trying to undermine Pakistan's democracy. Those who committed this crime must be brought to justice. Mrs. Bhutto served her nation twice as Prime Minister and she knew that her return to Pakistan earlier this year put her life at risk. Yet she refused to allow assassins to dictate the course of her country.

We stand with the people of Pakistan in their struggle against the forces of terror and extremism. We urge them to honor Benazir Bhutto's memory by continuing with the democratic process for which she so bravely gave her life.
One has to wonder what this type of tragedy will mean for our own primaries and caucuses coming up, because it does highlight the need for strength on National Security.

[Update #2] Hat tip to Hot Air for pointing us toward this article reporting that al-Qaeda is tying to lay claim to Bhutto's murder.
A spokesperson for the al-Qaeda terrorist network has claimed responsibility for the death on Thursday of former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

“We terminated the most precious American asset which vowed to defeat [the] mujahadeen,” Al-Qaeda’s commander and main spokesperson Mustafa Abu Al-Yazid told Adnkronos International (AKI) in a phone call from an unknown location, speaking in faltering English. Al-Yazid is the main al-Qaeda commander in Afghanistan.

It is believed that the decision to kill Bhutto, who is the leader of the opposition Pakistan People's Party (PPP), was made by al-Qaeda No. 2, the Egyptian doctor, Ayman al-Zawahiri in October.

Death squads were allegedly constituted for the mission and ultimately one cell comprising a defunct Lashkar-i-Jhangvi’s Punjabi volunteer succeeded in killing Bhutto.

Fair Play for Israel at the United Nations

Please sign the petition with first and last names - no families and no initials or nicknames. Background information is available at http://www.zionism-israel.com/issues/UNPetition.htm..

To: The Secretary General of the United Nations, US Ambassador to the United Nations and EU Ambassador to the United Nations:

We, the undersigned, are concerned that the UN has been subverted for decades into an instrument to persecute a member state, Israel. This violates charter guarantees of equality for all states and detracts from the ability of the UN to function as a fair and impartial mediator in the Middle East. Precious Secretariat resources for human rights are diverted into one conflict and one problem out of many. We insist that Israel be given equal treatment with all countries at the UN.

The UN Human Rights Commission, even after reform, issues endless condemnations of Israel, supported by notorious human rights violators such as Libya, Cuba, Iran, and Syria.

Israel is the only state that for decades was not part of a regional group and could not participate in UN bodies and consultations, and its membership is still restricted.

One of the seven Secretariat divisions for the entire world is a separate Division for Palestinian Rights. There is no separate division for any country or any other issue. There is no division for women's rights or basic freedoms, and no separate divisions for Tibet, Cyprus, West Sahara or other crisis areas.

Notorious examples of UN sponsored anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic NGO activities abound. They include the odious Durban conference that condemned Zionism as "Racism." A conference in Cairo supported the Hamas government and tried to torpedo efforts to force the Hamas to recognize Israel and participate in conflict resolution.

The Division for Palestinian Rights (DPR) and the committees it controls conduct an unrelenting campaign against Israel. The DPR fosters Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) that promote racism and attempts to impede peace efforts. These activities and related anti-Israel initiatives have damaged the credibility of the UN as a force for peace and a neutral mediator.

We call on the UN to abolish the Division for Palestinian Rights and the associated Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Human Rights Practices Affecting the Palestinian People and Other Arabs of the Occupied Territories (SCIIHRP) and the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP).

Likewise, we call on the UN to complete the reform of the UN Human Rights Commission and correct its anti-Israel bias, and to allow the integration of Israel into the UN as an equal member which can serve in all UN institutions and committees.
Sincerely,

CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR'S GREETINGS AND THE STATE OF THE NATION

~Snooper via SonLitKnight~

Today is the shortest day of the year and the beginning of winter. Among the godless barbarians, it
has long been a celebration of the Winter Solstice. It is that point of the year where, even as you are entering the coldest, most inhospitable portion of the year, the mechanism is already in place to extricate us from it. For, with each passing day of bitter cold, snow, sleet, hail, freezing rain, slush and biting wind, we can take comfort in knowing that each day is a little bit longer and a little bit closer to Spring.

Now, I don't wish to be misunderstood here but I am sure I will be. The purveyors of atheistic snobbery will sneer and hrrmph my words and protest that there is certainly nothing wrong with facing a furious blast of winter with the longing for a warmer day. Well, I agree, there isn't, so long as your hope and longing extends beyond that.

What makes atheism such an empty ideology is that one spends one's entire existence seeking to escape one unpleasant current reality, only to replace it with another. They never seek for anything larger.

The same atheist who curses January's bitter cold, curses the oppressive heat and humidity of June. The atheist cannot have joy because he has bet his life on a losing wager. That wager is the proposition that he deserves and can, through his own efforts achieve, a long and lasting happiness on this earth. He is, in the words of the prophet, ever embroiled in a chase after the wind. The wind, as it were, cannot be caught and it couldn't be grasped if it could. Time and tide and fate and destiny are merciless and relentless foes and they are undefeated.

Only he who understands and embraces this reality can know the path to joy.

Just as the same gentle wind that pushes the kite in May, slashes the gulf with a hurricane surge in September and buries the north in a blizzard whiteout in February, the same will it be with your life.

Some years ago, there was a song that went;

If we make it through December, everything is gonna be alright I know.
It's the coldest time of winter, and i shiver when I see the falling snow.
If we make it through December, I've got plans to be in warmer town come summertime.
maybe even California. If we make it through December, we'll be fine.

The problem with this is that we cannot know if we will make it through December or, if we do, whether January will be more brutal many fold. The worst mistake you can make is to imagine that things cannot get worse. Trust me on this, I know.

The problem with the atheist/secular humanist/ liberal crowd is that they are forever promising that January of relief from our current December of woe. That promised utopia has been called many things by the left. It has been called everything from a New Deal to an Age of Aquarius to a place called hope. Yet, it never arrives and it never will because the human control that it requires simply doesn't exist. There lies the frustration, disappointment and anger that must forever accompany liberalized/secular humanistic/atheistic ideology.

It is not that the LSHAs aren't looking for anything different than are we. We are looking for the same things. A life free from sorrow and anguish and suffering. A life of happiness and contentment and joy and fulfillment.

What separates the LSHA from the Christian is that the LSHA seeks for these things where he has no hope to ever find them. As the Scriptures say, you simply cannot make a silk purse from a sow's ear. Those who seek lasting happiness in this life seek that which they cannot possibly find.
They have bought into a lie oft repeated with the full fervency of the false religion of self from where it rises. For all of their gold, for all of their many words, for all of their facial creams and exercise machines and expensive cars with a big shiny bow, they will grow old, they will fall from favor they will die.

These are the facts.

The LSHA spend their lives free-falling towards the ground while convincing themselves that they can fly. Every single LSHA will die penny-less, powerless and alone.

Every Single One.

The Christian will die as well, of course. Yet, for the LSHA, death is a bitter and painful separation for, with death, comes the death of hope and the realization that the best existence he will ever have experienced is rapidly fading to gray. For the LSHA, life ends with the revelation of how foolishly he wasted his life seeking only his own gain only be confronted by the paradox of what life is, as prescribed in scripture.

He who seeks to save his life shall lose it.
He who loses his life, for My sake, shall find it.

Don't be a fool. Wake up from your dream. Your money and your strength and your many words will provide you no consolation at your moment of death. You will find no hope in the changing of the seasons for the changing of the seasons cannot assure you even another breath.

The changing of the seasons are only markers within which hope can be seen. For, the markers of the season's change are only commemorations of He who stepped out of eternity and into time for you.

The 21st of December (or in rare occasions like this year, the 22nd) is a day that holds no hope for you. The 25th of December holds your hope, for it is on this day that we commemorate the birth of a child like no other.

Simply stated, it is only the birth of Christ that gives real hope to a fallen world. All other hope is a false hope.

If you have pinned your hope on the Prophet Mohammed or the Age of Aquarius or on yourself, you have bet on a losing horse. You will die in your sin and be damned to an unimaginable and fiery hell. Those are just the facts.

The Christian life is not a life without pain. The Christian life is not a life without suffering. The Christian life is not a life without sorrow and disappointment. Trust me that I can vouch for this personally.

The damnable lie from the bowels of hell is that the LSHA escapes these things. He does not.

LSHAs die in car accidents. LSHAs get sick. LSHAs have broken families. LSHAs have children who disappoint them, friends who betray them, objects of desire who reject them, and tragedies that rock them and traumatize them. LSHAs deal with all the pains and sorrows that Christians do.

The difference is that, unlike the LSHA, the Christian finds joy in the knowledge that life's stings are not the final answer. They live with the light of hope. The LSHA often turns to addiction to anesthetize himself from the pain of life. His entire life, the lure and false promise of drugs, alcohol, sex, money and power have the same effect of a person fanning himself from the heat. The second you stop fanning, the heat returns.

The Christian understands, as Pope Benedict so eloquently wrote, that suffering is something that we cannot always escape but it is something that we can overcome.

Pain, sorrow, suffering and death are as inevitable as rain and sun. Hope lies not in getting around all the sorrows of this world but in getting through them. It is no surprise that the LSHA is against the war in Iraq. They spend their entire lives running from the battle, only to find a worse battle facing them later.

Finding torture chambers in Iraq is just that much more proof that this was an enemy that had to be defeated. The enemy that targets the innocents in Iraq also targets you and your attempted avoidance of the fight only strengthens the enemy and emboldens him.

This is life in it's entirety. A vicious struggle between a patient mercy desiring your salvation and a violent malevolence in relentless perusal of your destruction. Your problem is that you think you can purchase a selfish freedom by siding with the enemy. You will learn too late that the scriptures were right when they foretold that the beast you ride in your spiritual harlotry, is destined to turn and devour you.

Nowhere has this truth been more manifestly obvious than in the war in Iraq. The coalition of the unhinged rose to power in the House and Senate on the back of a monstrous lie- that the war was too hard, too long, too hopeless, couldn't be won, shouldn't be fought, boo hoo friggin' hoo.

If we cut and run and hide like little baby sissies, all we be wild and wonderful and all the Al Queda terrorists that we created will slither back into the spider holes from whence the crawled. Those of us who live in the reality based community know different.

We took our worldview- that evil cannot be appeased, that it must be confronted- and used it as a backbone to a backlash against the dorks who carried signs and bitched and whined and moaned.

We defended the surge, we fought back, we won.
Life is not about fighting the enemy or not fighting the enemy. That decision has already been made for you and you had better sober up and realize this. The only decision is whether or not you are going to win that battle and that can only be decided by how willing you are to fight it.

I come to you, not as a Saint or a Prophet or a Martyr. Far from it. I write you this day as a fellow soldier in the war against evil. Make no mistake, the evil that seeks to destroy me seeks to destroy you just as surely.

If you succumb to the folly that you can save yourself by destroying me, you will find that you will do neither. In fact, you should already have learned this.

So, Now I Am A War Criminal?

~Snooper~

This moron just pissed off 95% of the military, thank you very much. If...IF...we are War Criminals, is it really a good idea to piss off heavily armed "criminals". Just sayin'.

Not too long ago, the US wasn't winning because the tribal peoples of Iraq were doing all the fighting of AQI. Now, since that tactic bombed out, the breaking out of peace all over Iraq is due to us involved in Ethnic Cleansing.

I really do wish these morons would make up my mind.

As a member of Vets For Freedom, I stand with my Brothers and Sisters in uniform...and out...to annihilate this idiot.

Vets For Freedom has released the following statement:
"Sure there's less violence, but that's because we've ethnically cleansed most of Baghdad" - Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA)

(Washington, DC) Vets for Freedom condemns the recent comments by Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA) on the floor of the House of Representatives in which he stated that American troops "ethnically cleansed Baghdad." The United Nations, along with the rest of the civilized world, commonly refers to ethnic cleansing as genocide.

"Once again, Congressman Moran demonstrates how far from reality he has fallen," said Executive Director of Vets for Freedom and Iraq Army veteran, Pete Hegseth. "Jim Moran has a long history of putting his foot in his mouth, but this time he has gone too far. The men and women who make up our nation's military are decent and honorable citizens who bravely serve to fight our enemies who threaten our national security. Insinuating that they are war criminals is outright despicable."

He continued, "I call on all Members of Congress to follow Vets for Freedom in our condemnation of these irresponsible accusations, as well as on the constituents of the 8th District of Virginia to stand up to such nonsense and support the men and women whose very sacrifice allows Moran to run his mouth."

Vets for Freedom is a nonpartisan organization established by combat veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Its mission is to educate the American public about the importance of achieving success in these conflicts by applying our first-hand knowledge to issues of American military strategy.

Your days are numbered dirt ball. I sure so strongly desire to place my real thoughts here but, I have repacked my Go Bag instead.

Journalistic Malpractice: Crickets

~Snooper~

~Snooper~

When a theoretical Main Stream Media, as they like to be referred to as, purposefully "buries" a Good News story developing in the GWOT, it can be argued that the journalistic entity is conducting journalistic malpractice.

We have Medical Malpractice. We have Legal Malpractice and in recent times, we have Accounting Malpractice. I think we are due for some good old Journalistic Malpractice. It can be argued that such "cover ups" create a false perception, damaging morale within the Armed Forces and the American Public as a whole. A good attorney could have a Field Day second to none in this regard. Get a good Crash and Burn firm to lead the charge to hold the journalists to a standard to which they hold all others...except their moppets, naturally.

We in the New Media have shown that the Media Darlings are never held to as a higher plateau of honesty and integrity they demand so much of from others. It doesn't mesh with their personal agendas or tenets of dishonesty.

Case in point: Musa Qala, Afghanistan. Where is the "Main Stream Media"? A blog at ABC has some good coverage, does it not? Or, not.

The "Main Stream" coverage "IS" "Rather" relegated to the Boredom Pages...why is that?

The self-vaunted "Main Stream Media" said that the rebels fled or Afghan Troops over-ran a rebel position and 50 rebels were killed where the truth is this: the Taliban was seriously routed, defeated and crushed by overwhelming and superior firepower.

Ace of Spades:
The US Military had a "temper tantrum," I guess ABCNews would say.

A wonderful temper tantrum. "Hundreds killed," not the 50 or so reported earlier. [...]

[...] Now you may wonder why a major victory in the, ahem, "Forgotten War" (the first forgotten war Afghanistan, and not Forgotten War II, Iraq) isn't being reported by the media.

It's because they're Patriots, buddy! They don't want to leak out the sensitive intelligence to the Taliban that they just got their asses kicked unholy. They might not know yet, so keep it on the QT, all right?

All hail the Patriotic MSM for its discretion. Huzzah, sirs!

Thanks to dri.

IBD Editorials:
Coalition forces captured the Taliban's biggest stronghold on Tuesday in a major military victory. Funny, isn't it, how the good guys winning doesn't make banner front-page headlines?

Musa Qala was the only town in the strategically vital Helmand province under Taliban control. The enemy had seized it in February after the collapse of a local truce between the British military and Afghan elders. But this week Afghan and NATO-led troops changed that by killing, wounding or capturing hundreds of Taliban fighters, including several commanders, in retaking the town.

On Pearl Harbor Day, Dec. 7, U.S. infantry were participating in one of the biggest air assaults in Afghanistan since the toppling of the Taliban government a few weeks after 9/11. So many of the enemy were killed that Afghan Defense Ministry spokesman Zahir Azimi told reporters, "We are still busy collecting dead bodies from Musa Qala." Azimi also said an important Taliban meeting in the mountains of Sangin and Musa Qala district was also bombed, resulting in many casualties. [...]

[...] Far from just an important Taliban command post, Musa Qala was also a training base for both Afghan and foreign Islamist militants. Azimi has said hundreds of foreign terrorists had gathered there. That makes this week's victory a big win in the global war on terror.

On top of that, though, is the fact that the town was home to as many as 70 heroin labs, profits from which were used to fund Taliban terrorism. Afghanistan makes over 90% of the world's opium, more than half of which is grown in Helmand province. So chalk up a victory in the war on drugs, too. [...]

[...] Major media outlets are only too happy to report things falling apart in Afghanistan, while Democrats just complain that Osama bin Laden hasn't been caught yet. This week we saw all the signs of a major victory in the global war on terror, and a victory for freedom for the Afghan people. That's nothing to be quiet about.
Simply amazing and, this DAV now has a burning hatred for the Leftinistra and their idgits in the now defunct and untrustworthy once Main Stream Media.

Yes. It is time for Journalistic Malpractice to become a reality.
